We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The Log analytics are useful.""The native integration of the Microsoft security solution has been essential because it helps reduce some false positives, especially with some of the impossible travel rules that may be configured in Microsoft 365. For some organizations, that might be benign because they're using VPNs, etc.""The standout feature of Sentinel is that, because it's cloud-based and because it's from Microsoft, it integrates really well with all the other Microsoft products. It's really simple to set up and get going.""It's easy to use. It's a very good product. It can easily ingest data from anywhere. It has an easily understandable language to perform actions.""The AI and ML of Azure Sentinel are valuable. We can use machine learning models at the tenant level and within Office 365 and Microsoft stack. We don't need to depend upon any other connectors. It automatically provisions the native Microsoft products.""It is quite efficient. It helps our clients in identifying their security issues and respond quickly. Our clients want to automate incident response and all those things.""I've worked on most of the top SIEM solutions, and Sentinel has an edge in most areas. For example, it has built-in SOAR capabilities, allowing you to run playbooks automatically. Other vendors typically offer SOAR as a separate licensed solution or module, but you get it free with Sentinel. In-depth incident integration is available out of the box.""In Azure Sentinel, we have found, they do have a store in their capability. AI and intelligence features. We found that to be very helpful for us because some other things we do need to integrate again or find another vendor for the store"

"Our customer acquires the complete report which is kept for future auditing purposes.""Alerting upon file changes is the most valuable aspect of the product.""It is a good and stable solution...It is a scalable solution."

More FileAudit Pros →

"It has in-depth monitoring capabilities and an easy way for setting up dashboards. I can expand in various areas, or I can reduce areas. It supports different types of breakdowns, filters, and rules. It is very simple for an out-of-the-box type of product. It doesn't take a lot of time to figure it out, which is unlike some of the solutions that I have looked at. It meets all the aspects.""The solution helps me to go back in time and search for different events. For example, if you wanted to know who activated an account; you could go back in time and find out.""It performs network behavior monitoring, log monitoring, and disaster recovery monitoring.""SolarWinds is easy to configure, and it provides timely alerts.""SolarWinds' stability is fine. I don't think we've had any software issues.""The most valuable feature of SolarWinds Security Event Manager is the analysis and the knowledge about the incidence that we trace.""The most valuable feature is the ease of use for the end user.""The out of the box reports and dashboard. It was easy to trim down these windows to something we could quickly use."

Cons
"Multi-tenancy, in my opinion, needs to be improved. I believe it can do better as a managed service provider.""Only one thing is missing: NDR is not available out-of-the-box. The competitive cloud-native SIEM providers have the NDR component. Currently, Sentinel needs NDR to be powered from either Corelight or some other NDR provider.""Improvement-wise, I would like to see more integration with third-party solutions or old-school antivirus products that have some kind of logging capability. I wouldn't mind having that exposed within Sentinel. We do have situations where certain companies have bought licensing or have made an investment in a product, and that product will be there for the next two or three years. To be able to view information from those legacy products would be great. We can then better leverage the Sentinel solution and its capabilities.""While I appreciate the UI itself and the vast amount of information available on the platform, I'm finding the overall user experience to be frustrating due to frequent disconnections and the requirement to repeatedly re-authenticate.""Not all information shows up in Sentinel. Sometimes there are items provided in 365 and if you looked in Sentinel you would not see them and therefore think they do not exist. There can be discrepancies between Microsoft tools.""Sometimes, we are observing large ingestion delays. We expect logs within 5 minutes, but it takes about 10 to 15 minutes.""Add more out-of-the-box connectors with other SaaS platforms/applications.""I would like to see more AI used in processes."

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"Whenever someone cuts and paste, it shows as "file is deleted".""The DLP function, including installation of the agent on the workstation and controlling the DLP restrictions, are areas where the product lacks.""The updates management and central management console could be improved."

More FileAudit Cons →

"It can be difficult for users who are inexperienced with the solution.""The solution's technical support is okay, but we don't have an SLA, and sometimes the response times are very slow.""We used the support from SolarWinds Security Event Manager and they are knowledgeable but challenging to get in contact with them.""The only issue is the pricetag. SolarWinds is a costly solution.""It is a very technical program. They can simplify it so that it isn't so hard to deal with.""Training for this solution needs to be improved, as new employees are sometimes unfamiliar with the product.""I imagine we will have to develop our own reports soon, this seems to be more cumbersome.""The company had to use a third party for the implementation of the solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."

  • "FileAudit provides a trial license for 30 days, and after that, customers can choose between perpetual licensing or the annual-based licensing option offered by FileAudit."
  • More FileAudit Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Licensing is on devices, so if you have many, then this may be high."
  • "We do a yearly license renewal. For a year, the solution costs roughly $500,000 USD. There are no costs beyond this yearly fee."
  • "The pricing model would benefit from having package deals with other SolarWinds products."
  • "Licenses can only be purchased in blocks of fifty at a time."
  • "It is in the appropriate mid-range. It is not as expensive as some of the other solutions. It is also not cheap."
  • "The price of SolarWinds Security Event Manager is reasonable."
