Advanced protection has secured critical web workloads and provides clear traffic visibility
From a security perspective, there remains a security loophole, as some browsers in the market can bypass the Turnstile solution, which requires approximately 40 seconds to do so. From a performance perspective, this is acceptable. We also tried Google reCAPTCHA, and that can also be bypassed. From a security perspective, I would say neither solution is completely secured. Regarding uptime, we have faced a couple of incidents due to Cloudflare in recent years, so I cannot say we receive 100% uptime for our region. We sometimes face challenges, including downtime and other issues. As a result, we are not receiving 100% uptime from Cloudflare's solution. Since most of our customers are in this region, we need alternatives. We need something more competitive than Cloudflare. Unfortunately, in Bangladesh, Cloudflare has three points of presence already, and we cannot find any other solution provider in Bangladesh as an alternative, which presents another challenge. Competitor solutions have more attack signatures, which ensure better security compared to Cloudflare's predefined configurations. Customers do not have options to modify any configuration parameters in Cloudflare, whereas other competitor solutions, such as F5 Distributed Cloud, allow customers to tune configurations according to their requirements. Cloudflare could improve in this area. Additionally, regarding visibility, Cloudflare has static visibility, but they could adopt dynamic graph features for their customers.

Excellent DDoS protection with responsive technical support and a straightforward setup
It handles the whole process with a very smart configuration. Just like other F5 components, it runs on the BIG-IP appliance platform, which is renowned for F5 and can manage, along with other F5 components, what they call BIG-IP, an analytics platform. F5 can be probably be referred to as an application security company. They have very, very extensive knowledge on the standard application patterns and behaviors of different kinds of applications and protocols to which an application communicates with. Due to this, they can mitigate very effectively against DDoS attacks. That's something that you don't just find in the industry. The extent in which the solution is very effective is due to its ability to handle not just the most current signatures for malware, but also issues around emerging signatures. The Hybrid Defender has the ability to add a very rich source of intelligence via the F5 Threat Intelligence Chip Subscription and that provides a lot of intelligence. The intelligence is aggregated by a 24/7 research center in F5. The learnings are downloaded to every client of a F5 DDoS appliance, and that gives everyone all the contextual information they need to know to in order to analyze traffic effectively. F5 doesn't just block, it provides users with contextual information to go by. Most competitor's environments will have their appliance do a hard stop. This means they weigh traffic from real customers and that affects the overall business experience. F5, on the other hand, uses contextual information to be able to specify what is malicious traffic and what is real traffic. That comes from its pool of intelligence, and from its threat intelligence team.

Easy to configure and blocks bot attacks for web users
The solution is deployed on the F5 cloud. The solution's real-time analytics help you see what has been blocked. It helps to see whether the attack category was an automation attack or a fake browser. F5 Shape Security has a normal dashboard. We are doing F5 Shape Security migrations for 30 customers. F5 Shape Security uses Javascript. For a lot of competitors, the Javascript can be reverse-engineered by attackers to bypass the protection. F5 Shape Security has machine learning authentication of the Java script. If you had hacked it, the encryption would have been changed. It's really hard for attackers to reverse engineer the F5 Shape Security JavaScript. Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"What I like best about Cloudflare is that my company can use it to trace and manage applications and monitor traffic."
"When using services like Heroku, Cloudflare is very useful for CNAME flattening. I also use it for their end-to-end SSL with TLS authentication on nginx for securing servers."
"Cloudflare DNS is widely used, and it's good for websites. If we use Cloudflare DNS and update one record, it updates in their office instantly."
"Cloudflare improves performance on my websites and is a great partner for cloud infrastructure for anyone who wants to use the security service and other features."
"If it was not for CloudFlare, I would have to hire a dedicated resource to manage all this for me."
"It's a reasonably priced solution that meets customers' needs and it's not too difficult to deploy."
"Using the CDN of Cloudflare improved the speed significantly, reducing the page loading times to appropriate levels."
"Smaller businesses have seen great ROI due to the low investment and strong performance."
"Most competitor's environments will have their appliance do a hard stop. This means they weigh traffic from real customers and that affects the overall business experience. F5, on the other hand, uses contextual information to be able to specify what is malicious traffic and what is real traffic. That comes from its pool of intelligence, and from its threat intelligence team."
"The user interface was recently changed in one of the latest versions, but we find it to be very good. The change was an improvement."

"The user interface was recently changed in one of the latest versions, but we find it to be very good."
"F5 Shape Security's most valuable feature is performance."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is the ease of configuration."

Cons

"There could be more courses with engineers. I like e-learning, however, having a specialist in a classroom is more comfortable for me."
"Support response time could be improved."
"For the services I am using, it is a bit expensive."
"It should be easier to collect the logs with companies like Sumo. However, based on my discussions with the salespeople, I understand that's how they make their money. With the enterprise product, they want people doing those kinds of enterprise features to do the logging. They want them to pay a lot of money, and that's where I have an issue with them. That should be a default. You should be able to get the log no matter what. The logging should be universal."
"I rate technical support quite badly."
"One area of improvement is in the Access Rules. Hypothetically, if we wanted to block or challenge traffic outside of the United States, the only way to currently do that (as far as I know) is to enter every single country outside of the United States."
"The tool needs to improve caching of servers. The product needs to include PFX certificate as well."
"It would be good if Cloudflare could have more servers for better traffic routing or an increase in the traffic routed."
"The solution needs better stability when it's utilized with virtual solutions."
"The solution needs better stability when it's utilized with virtual solutions."
"We've seen the rise of smaller entities, and their requirements grow by the day. Having the ability to give them appliances that fit their needs in terms of that small or medium-sized segment and the pricing they can handle would be something that's great to see."

"The tool's price is high."
"I want the solution's custom exclusion rules to be more granular."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We don't have any issues with the price."
"The tool is a premium product, so it is very expensive."
"I think the pricing is competitive. I think as far as licensing is concerned it's pretty straightforward because it's based on domain. It's just that sometimes domains could be tricky with some customers."
"That is one of the great features. I was able to access the majority of the features and services for free."
"When you compare Cloudflare DNS to other solutions, such as Akamai, the price is reasonable."
"For Cloudflare, I recommend it heavily for small businesses with revenue under a couple of million dollars. Onboarding is easy, and they even have a free plan. This makes it simple for businesses in the $100,000-$500,000 range to try it out and see its value, allowing them to scale up their infrastructure as needed."
"The price is reasonable."
"The product's pricing is minimal compared to other products."
