Customizable solution that provides the ability to ingest alerts from different systems
The price could be cheaper. That was one reason why we switched to PagerDuty. We wanted to switch to something that provided the same features but at a lower cost. We also switched because PagerDuty provided other features like integration with ServiceNow and the scheduling of engineers. Evanios was only for event integration. Evanios created too much noise. For every alert, it would create an incident. We received too many alerts and incidents from monitoring. It wasn't able to intelligently ingest alerts. It created 4,000 incident tickets in a month, which didn't reflect what was happening. If we received an alert, the synthetic monitoring and volume drop would give us the same alert. Evanios should include alert ingestion and de-duplication of alerts and noise reduction. We couldn't have people resolving each and every incident. PagerDuty gives us reports on how many alerts are being ingested, how many are noise, how many have bigger incidents, and which of the alerts are creating noise. It would be helpful if Evanios had metrics on the amount of alerts and types of the alerts to show which ones were serious incidents and which ones were just noise.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is the integration with various alert-generating systems because you might have synthetic alerts or monitoring alerts for volume drops."
"Provided up to a 90% noise reduction in some our noisy monitoring tools."
"The ability to manipulate events via JavaScript getting the exact data that we want."
"FortiMonitor is really easy to use for monitoring the logs on FortiGate...It is a stable product."
"Fortinet's customer support is very good."
"With FortiMonitor, you can get all the logs of the traffic information of the destination or the source."
"The tool continuously improves, adapting to support new vendors and technologies. Importantly, it automates the process, triggering alerts when devices require attention, and eliminating the need for manual intervention."
"FortiMonitor has a very intuitive dashboard, which makes it particularly helpful for analyzing traffic, alerts, and other information."
"The product's initial setup phase is easy."
"FortiMonitor is 100% stable."
"FortiMonitor offers comprehensive monitoring capabilities, allowing me to track network traffic in and out effectively."

Cons

"The price could be cheaper."
"We would like the ability to have an "exit" option for events when they are being processed."
"More complex correlation rules would be nice. The ability to clearly define a parent event in a correlation and nested correlations, specifically."
"FortiMonitor could improve by having compatibility with other operating systems, such as Linux."
"We use FortiToken, and it's a pain to use because you have to send things through your phone and then confirm by email. Only after this can you log in. It's dual-factor authentication. I wish that I could just log in or bring up a dashboard where I could log in from."
"The tool's price in Vietnam is high, making it an area of concern where improvements can be made."
"There is room for improvement in the FortiMonitor report. It is not ideal for showcasing to tech customers or managers, especially when trying to display high CPU usage from logins within a specific range of months or the most recent month."
". Enhancements in the dashboard, such as clearer alerting, maintenance window management, software version tracking, and better visualization, would be beneficial."
"FortiMonitor needs to improve its alert system."
"The solution's initial setup process is time-consuming."
"FortiMonitor's monitoring could be much better. It should be like, in Palo Alto."

"The price of FortiMonitor is approximately $200 annually for 225 users. The price is competitive."
"FortiMonitor's price is very high."
"There are additional costs needed for certain functionality, such as scalability."
"In terms of licensing, while it may not be the most expensive option on the market, it's relatively cost-effective. You can obtain licenses at a lower cost, with the calculation being straightforward. For example, if you onboard around 5,000 devices, you'll need approximately 5,000 licenses, as each device typically counts as one license."
