We performed a comparison between ESET Endpoint Security and Sophos Intercept X based on our users’ reviews in four categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Of the two products, ESET Endpoint Security has more favorable reviews. The solution has very effective threat protection, is reasonably priced, and has great service and support.
"Ability to get forensics details and also memory exfiltration."
"Fortinet FortiEDR's firewalling, rule creation, monitoring, and inspection profiles are great."
"The setup is pretty simple."
"The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration."
"The price is low and quite competitive with others."
"The product detects and blocks threats and is more proactive than firewalls."
"The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers."
"It is a scalable solution...The initial setup of Fortinet FortiEDR was straightforward."
"ESET provides good protection."
"I find the main valuable feature to be the antivirus, it is very effective with removing viruses."
"I would say that this solution has the best support team in this kind of Endpoint protection product."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the protection itself, which works well for us."
"It's scalable."
"I rate ESET Endpoint Security eight out of 10 for ease of setup. Setting up ESET can be straightforward or complicated depending on the customer's environment. The deployment time varies, but it's typically around five days. We have a team of four or five people involved in the deployment. Only one person is needed for maintenance. The only maintenance is adjusting the configuration of the dashboard."
"The maintenance is easy."
"ESET Endpoint Security is stable, I did not have any issues with it."
"The stability on offer is fine."
"The package we use also comes with spam filtering features, which are quite useful."
"The deployment is quick. It just depends on the environment and what you may be replacing."
"The patches on offer are very helpful."
"It is easy to interact with, and its cost is also good."
"There are additional security features in Sophos Intercept X as well as proxy rules and settings that help us in minimizing the sites that our agents can go to, even after their work hours."
"We find the app control and its threat protection to be the best features."
"Ransomware protection is the most valuable feature of this solution."
"I think cloud security and SASE are areas of concern in the product where improvements are required. The tool's cloud version has to be improved in terms of the security it offers."
"The dashboard isn't easy to access and manage."
"FortiEDR could add a separate scanning dashboard. In incident management, we prefer to remove the endpoint system from the environment and scan the system. We typically use Symantec for that, but if we want to use FortiEDR for that, then we need a scanning tab to clarify things."
"The solution's installation from a central installation server could be improved because the engineers had a little bit of trouble getting it installed from a central location."
"The only minor concern is occasional interference with desired programs."
"The amount of usage, the number of details we get, or the number of options that can be tweaked is limited in comparison to that with other EDR solutions"
"We find the solution to be a bit expensive."
"They can include the automation for the realtime updates. We have a network infrastructure with remote sites. Whenever they send updates, they are not automated. We have to go into the console and push those updates. I wish it was more automated. The update file is currently around 31 MB. It could be smaller."
"The integration capabilities might be lacking a bit."
"The interface is good. However, it could always be better. It could be more user-friendly."
"In terms of what is lacking in ESET, it really would need more features for the users when they are working outside of the corporate network."
"The product should provide a one-click option to renew the licenses."
"They need to improve licensing for VMs. When ESET is uninstalled from a VM, the seat stays on the license management server. We have to manually delete the seat from that server because it doesn't know how to handle it. I contacted exclusive ESET support here in Croatia and they told me there is no solution for this yet."
"The management of the solution isn't as clear as it could be. They could adjust that to make it a better product."
"While the pricing is good, they could always lower it a bit."
"Online security could still be improved in ESET Endpoint Antivirus because security is threatened by phishing."
"The EDR could be improved, and perhaps the User Interface."
"Mobile device management is a challenging area, and it can be improved. Some areas in the DLP solution can also be improved. It has the DLP capability, but it is not an all-out DLP program. I would like to see them improve the DLP solution in terms of reporting and possibly network monitoring. Currently, they only do the reporting parts of it."
"It should offer better security updates."
"When there is an event generated by either the firewall or Intercept X, and the originating IP address is the same, these should be merged into a single event rather than two."
"If Sophos Intercept allows users to restrict website access based on specific needs, such as streaming new videos for business purposes, we would prefer to use that."
"The choices offered for the on-premises and cloud-based platforms are the reverse of each other."
"We would like more application control in order to be able to schedule times and access."
"There is some issue with the reporting and refreshing information on resources that have been eliminated."
