Centralized monitoring improves security posture through rapid data processing
The processing part of Elastic Security is very interesting for us since we handle almost 7,000 to 8,000 alerts per minute. We require rapid processing speed for alerts and event data, and Elastic Security is very efficient at handling this level of data. Additionally, Elastic Security helps improve the security posture of Pakistan through centralized visibility and real-time processing.

Automation simplifies workflows with no code and excellent support
Reporting and dashboards could be more advanced for deeper analysis. Tines has its own dashboard, which displays information like how many stories have been created and how many automations have taken place. However, the reporting and dashboard are not advanced; they are quite basic, with fewer customizable options. The look and feel of the dashboard could be enhanced. Another area for improvement is in terms of documentation, as every tool and company has its own knowledge base.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is compatible with the cloud-native environment and they can adapt to it faster."
"The intelligence of the system has been very impressive. It's not quite AI, but the technical bit where it correlates information, based on the seen attacks within an organization is good."
"The most valuable feature of Elastic Security is that you can install agents, and they are not separately licensed."
"The solution has a good community surrounding it for lots of helpful documentation for troubleshooting purposes."
"One of the most valuable features of this solution is that it is more flexible than AlienVault."
"Elastic has a lot of beats, such as Winlogbeat and Filebeat. Beats are the agents that have to be installed on the terminals to send the data. When we install beats or Elastic agents on every terminal, they don't overload the terminals. In other SIEM solutions such as Splunk or QRadar, when beats or agents are installed on endpoints, they are very heavy for the terminals. They consume a lot of power of the terminals, whereas Elastic agents hardly consume any power and don't overload the terminals."
"What customers found most valuable in Elastic Security feature-wise is the search capability, in particular, the way of writing the search query and the speed of searching for results."
"The tool's functionality is good for overall security and incident response times."
"The best advantage is the no-code automation, excellent customer support services, and ease of integration with other tools."
"One of the most valuable features is that it’s a low-code solution."
"The tool was vendor-neutral."
"The best thing is that it's no code, so it doesn't require coding knowledge."

Cons

"The solution should generate an automatic product that integrates with ELK Stack to use artificial intelligence."
"Elastic Security consumes a lot of resources, requiring a substantial deployment setup."
"An area for improvement in Elastic Security is the pricing. It could be better. Right now, when you increase the volume of logs to be collected, the price also increases a lot."
"It is difficult to anticipate and understand the space utilization, so more clarity there would be great."
"There is an area of improvement in the Logs list. The load list may need to be paginated as there are limits."
"The solution could also use better dashboards. They need to be more graphical, more matrix-like."
"Improvements in Elastic Security could include refining and normalizing queries to make them more user-friendly, enhancing the user experience with better documentation, and addressing any latency issues."
"This type of monitoring is not very mature just yet. We need more real-time information in a way that's easier to manage."
"Reporting and dashboards could be more advanced for deeper analysis."
"Tines was a little bit more expensive than Torq."
"Maybe Tines can add more features and demonstrations, like videos on how to use the features within the tool."
"They started implementing some AI, and their AI is isolated."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Elastic Stack is an open-source tool. You don't have to pay anything for the components."
"It is easy to deploy, easy to use, and you get everything you need to become operational with it, and have nothing further to pay unless you want the OLED plugin."
"The price is reasonable. It probably costs the same as ArcSight and LogRhythm SIEM. FortiSIEM might cost less than Elastic Security. There are no hidden or additional costs."
"The tool's pricing is flexible and comes at unit cost. You don't have to pay for everything."
"The base product is open-source but if you need advanced security features then you need to pay for the subscription. Elastic Security's price is reasonable in some cases and in other cases it's not."
"This is an open-source product, so there are no costs."
"Compared to other tools, Elastic Security is a cheaper solution."
"The pricing is in the middle. I think it is not an expensive experience if we compare it with big names, for example, QRadar, and also Oxide. I think Elastic Security is quite cheap. I would rate the pricing of this solution a five out of ten."
