Cloud backup has reduced storage costs and now delivers fast, reliable data recovery
My overall experience in this field is seven years. The deployment model I have chosen for Druva Phoenix is mostly cloud-based backup. Government authorities and government customers majorly opt for on-premises deployment, but we have a very limited customer segment from that area. Druva Phoenix primarily operates on a private cloud, with some customers utilizing hybrid cloud solutions. If I assess the effectiveness of backup features in Druva Phoenix, particularly in minimizing operational disruptions, I would rate it as a very strong 9 or 9.5 on a scale of 10. I am not using Druva Data Security Cloud. My overall review rating for Druva Phoenix is 9.

Lacks multi-platform support and physical infrastructure but excels in storage optimization
We use it for VM backup and Office 365 backup I find the solution to be user-friendly and easy to manage and deploy. It provides storage for Office 365, which is beneficial, and the deduplication technology is excellent, especially in optimizing storage capacity compared to others. In terms of…

Pros

"Druva Phoenix is easy to use and easy to start with."
"I found the cost-effectiveness of Druva Phoenix to be its most valuable feature, especially when compared to on-premises backup solutions."
"It's patch-based, so you don't have to bother about the backup server or the repository."
"The most valuable features of Druva Phoenix are the simple portal to log in and flexibility."
"We chose the best one that works for us which was Druva Phoenix."
"I would definitively say that we have been able to make our people more productive by at least 30%."
"The initial setup was very straightforward."
"One of the best features in Druva Phoenix for me personally is that it is an air-gapped environment, where you can keep cloud backup on a separate air-gapped environment and save from any kind of ransomware attack, and it is a ransomware safer environment because a customer gets a separate environment."
"Give it a try as it's very easy to setup and works like charm."
"The interface is user-friendly and even if our tech isn't onsite, we can work with the owners to confirm that the data will be restored with no issues."
"Ability to restore to any host."
"The most valuable feature of Altaro VM Backup is its ability to backup and restore various types of data, including Active Directory, application servers, and SQL Server databases."
"Altaro VM Backup is affordably priced, is a best value for its price, and has almost every feature that an expensive, popular product offers."
"The ease of use of the solution is its most valuable feature. The interface is also excellent."
"The intuitive interface allows you to set up and perform backups and restores easily."
"Customer Service: Extremely good, and the turnaround is less than a day."

Cons

"Although, sometimes there is a restriction with the number of OS platforms that this solution supports."
"The ransomware features are limited in Druva. There's a lot of improvement needed. It should extend to Nutanix and Hyper-V. It should extend to Azure as well."
"There is room for improvement in the reporting aspect of Druva Phoenix."
"They were able to give us a very reasonable price considering we were non-for-profit organizations, however, there is always room for improvement on that cost."
"Druva Phoenix should include a few reporting features that it doesn't provide currently."
"They were very much responsive a few years back, but in the last one or two years, I believe the responsiveness has gone down."
"Deploying it in a hybrid cloud model involves some minor complexities, though nothing represents a significant challenge."
"The product's pricing needs to be improved."
"The only issue at the moment is a lack of throttling."
"Improvement areas for Altaro VM Backup include enhancing backup and deduplication solutions for continuous operation and offering an all-in-one solution for hardware backup."
"I had some difficulties activating the product but after the activation phase all went smooth."
"Missing features at the moment are Linux file-level restore, backup from physical machines, German localized version, and probably full tape support (RDX is supported but there is no "real tape" support)."
"The software does have occasional problems with shadow copy but restarting the services rectifies this."
"I need to be able to restore emails to Exchange Live not just to a PST. This is a major drawback as I want to be able to restore individual items or mailboxes directly into my live Exchange databases so the user can see the email right away."
"Storage usage: you have often to manually free disk spaces."
"Being able to backup the actual host machine would be an improvement for us."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's very costly. Normal people wouldn't understand how their credits are calculated. It's pretty complex."
"I assume clients use Druva Phoenix because it is cheaper than other products."
"Druva Phoenix's pricing is based on the service provided, and it's reasonable. The cost of the service will depend on the size of your data and the number of virtual machines being backed up. However, the pricing structure is straightforward and easy to understand."
"We’ve had experience with the data center for a while and we have had solutions that were able to support older versions of the operating systems that we needed. I would like for Druva to support it as well."
"No other product offers these features for this price. The ROI is great."
"Altaro VM Backup is affordably priced. It is a best value for its price and has almost every feature that an expensive, popular product offers."
"Its yearly maintenance fee is fairly high for me to renew for upgrades and support."
"By implementing the solution at multiple locations, significant cost savings were achieved."
"The price is great for the utility you get and the licensing has never caused any issues with my company."
"There is a free version for two VMs. I would advise to study the deployment environment well, prior to committing to order a license per host."
"There is a free version for Hosts with 2 VMs."
"The pricing is okay,"
