Supports flexible hosting needs through seamless upgradability and strong monitoring capabilities
The most valuable features of Dell PowerEdge R-Series for me are the feature richness and the upgradability. I really love the way that it is so dynamically applicable for every situation, and they manage to have an all-in-one solution for every single situation. Dell PowerEdge has supported the growth and operational success of my company through its great compute power and price-to-performance ratio. Every time Dell is at the top of its game for us, and there is just no other brand for us that is able to reach that kind of price-to-performance ratio. Dell PowerEdge R-Series has features that specifically cater to the needs of my small company, such as iDRAC. The iDRAC system is a complete feature set for managing servers and hardware technically and monitoring-wise. It really fits in our system and our ecosystem, and monitoring-wise, it is excellent. They have all these sensors available via different protocols and end points, which I love, and the ability to manage and control everything via the iDRAC interface is just a welcome bonus. In our use case, Dell PowerEdge R-Series is very flexible. It is another computer which helps a lot because of the durability over time. They keep running, making scalability for getting more of those resources in our environment so easy.

With a perfect record for uptime, the solution ensures a return on investment
Since it is a legacy tool, there is a need to change it for flexibility. I think now it has improved because the security is very good. It is very secure for the performance of the machine critical application service, and it is very good. I don't know how to speak more on improvement needed because it's a good enough tool. However, depending on the application, it's limited. Not a lot of applications run on HPE NonStop. It is not flexible because I know that because of the compatibility of Java with HPE NonStop. When we are using Java, the performance is not good.

"Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers scale with the growing needs of my company."
"The OpenMange console is effective."

"Feature-wise, the most valuable one is the fact that it has 100 hundred percent uptime every year. Secondly, it is stable."
"We don't have any issues with the stability of HPE NonStop."
"The stability of HPE NonStop is good."

Cons

"The pricing for Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers would be absolutely better."
"I realized during the session that we had a lot of back and forth before we finally arrived at the solutions."
"All of the marketing terminologies from Dell are very complicated as they have names that sometimes involve the same technology."
"We wanted to have two storage cards during the onboarding process of the solution, which were available only on the more expensive version of the boxes that we usually use for work in our company."
"In older models, for instance, Melanox adapters remain a necessity, and they have sporadically caused complications."
"Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers could improve in clarity when specifying options; for instance, the difference between power supplies can sometimes be a little challenging to understand if you don't already know."
"In terms of storage, bigger storage capacity for Dell PowerEdge R-Series would be an improvement."
"PowerEdge is able to run the latest high-demand applications for our use case. They host our clusters and facilitate the building of environments."

"HPE NonStop could improve by having infrastructure management."
"It is not flexible...Not a lot of applications run on HPE NonStop."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"You can't have computed performance without using more power. That said, when I consider the power consumption and performance of the MX740c, depending on how much memory you install on each blade, you get the best bang for your buck."
"It's a bit of a shock when you have to find the money, but the pricing is very competitive, so I'm happy with that."
"It is very competitive. I have not been too involved in the licensing, but from a hardware perspective, I always find them to be competitive."
"When you compare public cloud solutions to PowerEdge in terms of cost, initially the cost of Dell servers or Dell technology was really high. However, right now it's on par or, maybe, even cheaper when we use Dell hardware. If we don't swap it out in three years and if we stretch it to four or five years, then we can get even more of an ROI versus cloud cost."
"It's a one-time licensing fee for the device and we pay a quota per year for the support."
"Compared to other vendors, the prices are much lower."
"PowerEdge pricing is equivalent to that of all the others in the market."
"The price is good for the quality of the Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is very cheap, and ten is very expensive, I rate the pricing an eight."
"HPE NonStop is definitely on the higher end."
"The price of the solution is too high. If they lowered the price substantially it would open up more opportunities. It's considered a replacement for the old 9000 boxes of HP. If it had a lower price, we would be able to compete in the financial, and other sectors and other solutions such as Terraform. Having a high price makes other solutions more attractive."
