Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I have found most valuable the automatic scheduled password rotation and remote desktop monitoring. Additionally, the documentation is readily available and easy to find and the dashboard is straightforward.""Number one is the password vault; it's very good. Number two, they have a feature for remote desktops that are created on a per session basis, which is very good for security.""The discovery engine is really robust and flexible. It had some session management features that are better compared to some other vendors. Overall the GUI is very good and straightforward to operate compared to other solutions. For example, CyberArk and Hitachi tend to be hard to navigate.""I like the one-way hash, as well as the ability to store it in the cloud and access it from anywhere.""Technical support is pretty good.""The GUI interface is well-designed and user-friendly.""There has been no downtime this year.""One valuable feature is that it will support a dedicated database. Delinea provides multiple features, like reporting and remote password changes."

Cons
"When working with larger enterprises Thycotic Secret Server becomes a little cumbersome to work with because they do not allow as much flexibility as some of the other competitors, such as CyberArk. Thycotic Secret Server could improve by being more flexible when it comes to customization, and increase the number of API integrations.""The UI needs improvement because the interface is a little clumsy.""The technical support needs improvement. For example, if you have any problems on the server configuring the IIS, they would provide you very limited details and they would tell you the problem is on your end.""The setup for this solution is complex. I'm not going to lie, you need a specialized system security engineer to deploy it.""I think that the main interface should integrate better with non-standard applications and clients, to connect with other systems.""Support could be better. I have heard about a lot of problems in the Bangladesh market. People are saying that there are support issues. So, Delinea should focus on support and services.""It is expensive compared to other solutions in this category and for what it does.""One thing that I wish they would do is to have a Kubernetes or container-based deployment supported, but they're not quite there yet. Containerization or support for containerization would be fantastic."

"It's a pretty technical solution. It's designed for more technical people.""There is room for improvement in making the UI more user-friendly."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The pricing is standard in this business and we have no complaints about it."
  • "Its price is okay. We don't compete on pricing. We seldom use price to win over our competitors. We prefer it this way because if we can sustain the price, we make more margin as well. We don't want the price to go down to the bottom where despite the win, there's no margin at all."
  • "Secret Server is expensive when compared to the cost to some alternatives."
  • "There are different plans and additional licensing costs that can be instituted for add-ons."
  • "There is an annual license fee per user and the price is fair."
  • "It is very expensive, and its price should be lower."
  • "Pricing is comparable to competing products."
  • "When comparing the price of Thycotic Secret Server with other solutions it is reasonable."

  • "On a scale of one to five, with one being expensive and five being competitive, I would rate the pricing of this solution as a five."
