Efficient data integration and workflow scheduling elevate project performance
Cloudera DataFlow is used as an ETL or ELT solution within Cloudera's data pipeline. Our organization heavily relies on it for data ingestion, transformation, and warehousing. It is also used daily for operational tasks, and it integrates well within Cloudera's ecosystem for high performance and…

The best features of Talend Data Integration are its rich set of components that let you connect to almost any data design intuitive and its strong automation and scheduling capabilities. The TMap component is especially valuable because it allows flexible transformation, joins, and filtering in a single place. I also rely a lot on context variables to manage different environments like Dev, Test, and production, without changing the code. The error handling and logging tools are very helpful for monitoring and troubleshooting, which makes the workflow more reliable. Talend Data Integration has helped our company by automating and standardizing data processes. Before, many of these tasks were done manually, which took more time and often led to errors. With Talend Data Integration, we built automated pipelines that extract, clean, and load data consistently. This not only saves hours of manual effort, but also improves the accuracy and reliability of data. As a result, business teams had faster access to trustworthy information for reporting and decision making, which directly improved efficiency and productivity. Talend Data Integration has had a measurable impact on our organization. By automating daily data loading processes, we reduced manual effort by around three or four hours per day, which saved roughly 60 to 80 hours per month. We also improved data accuracy. Error rates dropped by more than 70% because validation rules were built into the jobs. In addition, reporting teams now receive fresh data at least 50% faster, which means they can make decisions earlier and with more confidence. Overall, Talend Data Integration has increased both efficiency and reliability in our data workflows.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"This solution is very scalable and robust."
"The most effective features are data management and analytics."
"Cloudera DataFlow is fully compatible with Cloudera's ecosystem and offers high efficiency through native connectors for various ecosystems."
"This solution is very scalable and robust."
"The initial setup was not so difficult"
"DataFlow's performance is okay."
"We’re also able to respond much more quickly to changes and demands from the business, as we can create and change jobs quickly and provide new data for reports within hours."
"With its frequency function, we were able to pick a line of business to be addressed first in one of our conversion projects."
"Talend has allowed us to systematically organise/structure and deploy our staged ETL transformation processes from Development into production, we have tracked our data quality efforts during our runs and supplied comprehensive feedback during our development."
"The features that I find to be the most valuable are the extensibility, the integration, and the ease of integration with multiple platforms."
"The most valuable feature is the data loading and scripting language"
"If your use case depends on heterogeneous sources like Salesforce, SAP, and some other product information systems, I would recommend Talend."
"The most valuable features of the Talend Data Management Platform are the components."
"tLogRows are also great for finding bad data."

Cons

"Although their workflow is pretty neat, it still requires a lot of transformation coding; especially when it comes to Python and other demanding programming languages."
"It is not easy to use the R language. Though I don't know if it's possible, I believe it is possible, but it is not the best language for machine learning."
"It's an outdated legacy product that doesn't meet the needs of modern data analysts and scientists."
"Cloudera DataFlow's UI interface could be enhanced significantly. Memory handling can also be improved to be better than it is today."
"Although their workflow is pretty neat, it still requires a lot of transformation coding; especially when it comes to Python and other demanding programming languages."
"NullPointerExceptions are going to be the death of me and are a big reason for our transition away from Talend. One day, it is fine with a 1000 blank rows, then the next day, it will find one blank cell and it breaks down."
"Processing large volumes of data sometimes consumes a lot of resources."
"Due to using the open-source version of Talend Data Integration, which lacks a scheduler, our current approach involves developing jobs in Talend, exporting them as Java packages, and utilizing an external scheduler, such as Windows Scheduler, to manage the scheduling process."
"Qlik Talend Cloud could be improved with more advanced monitoring and flexible alerts, as well as better job performance visibility."
"I'd be interested in seeing the running of Python programs and transformations from within the studio itself."
"SQL for displaying underlying data in non-match results does not work."
"The pricing is a little higher than what I had expected, but it's comparable with I-PASS competitors."
"I've had some issues with bugs causing crashes, especially when making changes to the system or with the monthly upgrades to Studio they've introduced."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"DataFlow isn't expensive, but its value for money isn't great."
"I have been using the open-source version."
"The price is on a per-user basis. It's a little more expensive than other tools. There aren't any additional costs beyond the standard licensing fee."
"We did not purchase a separate license for DQ. It is part of our data platform suite, and I believe it is well-priced."
"It is cheaper than Informatica. Talend Data Quality costs somewhere between $10,000 to $12,000 per year for a seat license. It would cost around $20,000 per year for a concurrent license. It is the same for the whole big data solution, which comes with Talend DI, Talend DQ, and TDM."
"The tool is cheap."
"The pricing is a little higher than what I had expected, but it's comparable with I-PASS competitors."
"I would advise to first take a look and at the Open Studio edition. Figure out what you need and purchase the appropriate license."
"License renewal is on a yearly basis."
