Sentiment score
6.6
FortiGate customer service is generally good, with varied response times and quality rated between seven and ten.
They offer very accurate solutions.

When we raise a ticket with Meraki MX, they instantly become available to support us for configurations or troubleshooting.
I must study the best version to install to avoid previously found bugs.
I would rate Fortinet's support a 10 because they are excellent and very available whenever we needed their help.
In some cases, you need to come prepared because the people there work by the book and ask for particular things. If you don't have them, you cannot proceed, but if you know what they need, after some time, it's pretty easy to get support or whatever you need.

Scalability Issues

Sentiment score
6.9
Fortinet FortiGate effectively supports scalable deployments, offering adaptability despite potential hardware limits and integration and licensing concerns.
Sentiment score
7.5
Cisco Meraki MX is scalable for SMBs but faces challenges and hardware limitations with significant user demand increase.
Sentiment score
7.5
FortiGate Next Generation Firewall is scalable for medium-large businesses, with strong ratings and excellent SD-WAN integration.
They scale up really well from smaller models like the FortiGate 40 and 50 to bigger sites with the FortiGate 100 for more throughput - up to enterprise datacenters.
The variation comes in terms of the interfaces and throughputs, but from a security perspective, you get the same benefit, irrespective of whether you have an entry-level unit or an enterprise.
We determine sizing based on multiple factors: number of users, available links, traffic types, server count, services in use, and whether services will be published.
When you have hundreds of thousands of people it is very difficult to scale in Meraki.
We have Juniper solutions, and I would say the Juniper solutions can scale better, however, this solution is still very scalable.
The scalability of the FortiGate Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) is quite good; it is easy to make it scalable.
What it allows us in terms of connections to other companies is a straightforward solution that you don't have to use something else.

Stability Issues

Sentiment score
7.4
FortiGate is praised for stability and performance, with minor challenges managed by updates, proper sizing, and support.
Sentiment score
8.4
Cisco Meraki MX is stable and reliable, though some users face occasional issues quickly resolved by support.
Sentiment score
8.1
FortiGate Next Generation Firewall is praised for stability, reliability, and performance despite occasional compatibility and management challenges.
We're experiencing 99.999% availability consistently.
I would rate the stability of Fortinet FortiGate a ten out of ten.
Currently, we are experiencing a general outage of one of the main internet service providers of the Dominican Republic, and we have not been impacted in our operations because with SD-WAN, we have another internet service provider and we are working with the second WAN connection without any disruption.
Regarding next-generation firewalls, I would give the FortiGate Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) a rating of 10 for stability.
In some cases, you need to restart it, but mostly, it's working flawlessly, especially if you have an HA environment, high availability.
In my experience, there are usually no significant stability issues with FortiGate Next Generation Firewall (NGFW).

Room For Improvement

Fortinet FortiGate struggles with integration, user complexity, support inefficiencies, high costs, and feature performance, needing improved documentation and security.
Users want Cisco Meraki MX to improve security, pricing, integrations, support, and features like SSL decryption and API management.
FortiGate Next Generation Firewall requires better licensing, support, SD-WAN, GUI, pricing, tool integration, security features, and scalability improvements.
Investing in a solution that can accommodate such growth would be more cost-effective than repeatedly purchasing new hardware.
The constant daily revisions necessitate meticulous identification of the relevant documents to prevent the use of outdated information that could jeopardize our environment.
While Fortinet claims to offer a comprehensive network solution, it falls short in addressing computer application issues, particularly server security.
It should automatically remediate and find out the issue and then resolve it on its own without interrupting the work of the employees.
Data is the only path, so optimization is essential.
Improvements could be made when companies expand and need better equipment and more licenses.
Configuring these services is quite complex and not very user-friendly, requiring technical steps that are difficult for normal users to understand.
When a site is blocked, it is necessary for me to consult the logs to understand what the Next Generation Firewall policy has blocked.

In terms of pricing, I would say it is not the cheapest, but it was comparable to the others.

A stable solution with an intuitive interface and quick customer service
I have been working with Fortinet FortiGate, WatchGuard, Sophos, and SonicWall. I'm not as comfortable with SonicWall because of their UI and limitations. I prefer Fortinet above all other options. When it comes to configuration, I am confident in my ability to handle various tasks, including creating policies such as firewall rules, web policies, and application policies. Additionally, I can configure VPNs and implement load balancing, among other tasks. Overall, I feel much more comfortable working with Fortinet. Fortinet has made significant improvements by integrating AI with firewalls for threat analysis and prevention. In the past 2-3 years, they have launched FortiSASE and SIEM, and they also provide SOC services. Both Palo Alto and Fortinet FortiGate are excellent. While Fortinet FortiGate comes at higher prices, the functionality and support justify the cost. They promptly resolve firmware issues and inform all support providers about configuration changes.

Experience improved network management with flexible and secure connections
I recommend that Meraki MX should improve to be a better solution for the next release by being more competent so that we can offer it as a primary solution among all other brands, although I don't have any specific feedback, while the competitors are also ahead of these solutions. Enhancing user experience is always required. Enhancing the seamless connectivity is crucial and user experience enhancement is needed daily, otherwise people find it outdated. New features should look and be dynamically connected, and users should not be bothered frequently when connectivity issues occur. It should automatically remediate and find out the issue and then resolve it on its own without interrupting the work of the employees.
