Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Stable but bad technical support, and an out of date database
We primarily use the solution to protect our business The solution protects us so that we have regular security from attacks. It prevents disasters from happening on our system. The endpoint protection is the solution's most valuable feature. The database needs improvement. It needs to be…

From my perspective, predictive analysis is an area for improvement. The rules are very rigid. The way protection works for Trend Micro ServerProtect is that you have to specifically apply specific rules to achieve particular actions or use cases. We have had instances where a malware is dropped and that malware executes, it is detected, but because the malware has been altered a little bit, either in naming or slight behavior changes, the system is not able to stop it. This is unless you harden the rule to say block anything that appears out of place. My thinking as a security expert is that malware will typically behave outside of the normal operation of the organization. Instead of saying malware behavior based on malware behavior, I would say use analytics to identify anything that is outside the normal behavior of files and systems in the course of business operation, then flag it so it can go for further evaluation to identify if it is a malicious file execution or otherwise. Today, there are some instances where legitimate operations occur because of the static rule definition, the agent would flag a normal activity as malicious and then sometimes flag malicious activities as normal. They need to work on that area. There is a lot of competition today. When Trend Micro ServerProtect initially came out, they were premium, so there was not a lot of competition. Competition is dropping their price. Trend Micro ServerProtect should also come down on the pricing to meet competition. Though it is a great solution and an integrated solution, I think they should also meet the market competition. CrowdStrike is there, Palo Alto is there. There are many other competitors, but they need to also look at what is happening. They need to work on it. I would not say that they are overly priced, but I think they can be more competitive, especially with their new credit allocation process.

Cons

"Cortex XDR is trickier to configure than other Palo Alto products. This is one area where we are not so satisfied."
"Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth."
"Enhancing UI simplicity and playbook flexibility are areas that could benefit from more low-code automation options for smoother integrations."

"Customer service needs a lot of improvement. They never replied or responded to our queries over the three years we've used it."

"The database needs improvement. It needs to be updated quite a bit."
"There are blurred lines between anti-virus and endpoint detection so I would say it can be confusing when you are considering buying this program."
"There needs to be better integration with the environment, especially for the active directory and also for keeping up with the changes from Microsoft."
"There needs to be better integration with the environment. Especially, for the active directory and also for keeping up with the changes from Microsoft. We use a lot of Microsoft OS. I have noted that sometimes they lag behind Microsoft updates. For example, when with Windows 10. I had some issues with deploying to Windows 10 because the solution was behind in updating their own services to match the Microsoft release."
"One thing I have been facing is that some fake threats have appeared that even Trend Micro was not able to clear up. It couldn't tell you why these threats are happening, where they are coming from and what the costs are."
"What can be improved is that the cost is very high."
"Integration with different platforms could be an area for improvement in Trend Micro ServerProtect, for example, it needs more integration."
"I would like to see SMS notifications sent as alerts, in case we do not have access to our email."
"They need to improve in this area by providing more documentation and custom scripts for bulk enterprise deployments."
"I had some issues with technical support early on, there were some delays and I had difficulties raising a ticket with them."
"The solution should provide features to block devices, specific IPs or URLs"
"Trend Micro could perhaps be more intuitive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Traps pays for itself within the first 16 months of a three-year subscription. This is attributed to OPEX savings, as security teams spent less time trying to identify and isolate malware for analysis as a result of a reduction in malware incidents, false positives, and breach avoidance."
"Our license will require renewal in August, after which the maintenance will continue as usual."
"Very costly product."
"It has reasonable pricing for the use cases it provides to the company."
"The price of the solution could be reduced. I have customers that have voiced that the solution is good for the value but if I want to sell more of the solution the price reduction would help."
"The pricing is okay, although direct support can be expensive."
"It's about $55 per license on a yearly basis."
"The tool's price is moderate."
"There's a yearly cost for licensing. For us, that comes to $1,400. There are no additional costs beyond the license itself."
"Pricewise, this product is okay."
"Pricing is based on the components you choose from the suite to run in your installation. Costs vary by the number of features and the number of servers."
"This product has an annual subscription, but also offers MSP options."
"The product is available at a reasonable price"
"In terms of price, the solution is in the middle; it's neither the cheapest nor the most expensive. I rate it three out of five for cost."
