It's easy to set up because you point the DNS to it, and it's working in under 15 minutes
Cloudflare is highly scalable. Cloudflare is a system with a web portal that the end users like me see. It's a console where we can adjust the DNS, caching, and security features all in that console. Cloudflare owns thousands of servers across the world that cache the data. It's a powerful solution. When clients sign up for Cloudflare, they're getting this monster content delivery network, security, and a web application firewall in one. It's all rolled into one, and it's massive. Unless you have your website hosted on a massive hosting provider, there's no way that you can deliver the amount of data that Cloudflare can provide to the end users. If you have static content, there's no way that you can ever match what Cloudflare can do. Obviously, there are competitors to Cloudflare that do the same, but I'm saying other types of solutions. Let's say you go with F5. Great, that's on-prem. That's in your colo. You can't deliver as much data to the internet as you can with a CDN. You don't have to spend $20,000 on a net scaler, F5, or whatever Cisco's selling now. You don't have to buy that. You pay them $50 a month or $150 a month. It's totally worth it because even in five years, you'll never get the performance value, not just the actual ROI. You have to consider how much throughput you can get with Cloudflare.

Easy to install platform with valuable policy management features
We use the product for securing email systems, protecting websites, and safeguarding web-based applications and portals One significant area for improvement in Barracuda WAF-as-a-Service lies in its market positioning and pricing strategy. Additionally, it could operate in a local data center.…

Consistently protect applications with advanced threat detection and active support
We have had a very good experience with Radware Cloud. It has significantly reduced attacks on our applications. All our critical applications are onboarded to Radware, which uses AI to automatically learn behavior patterns and refine security policies. It also provides comprehensive protection against the top ten web application security risks. Importantly, we have not experienced any zero-day attacks because Radware Cloud offers protection against emerging threats. The Emergency Response Team is very active, and I consistently receive excellent responses from them. It's a very comprehensive and user-friendly solution. It's easy to implement and integrate. We also have found it's easy to reach support if we need help. The solution has helped us enhance our cyber security posture. It's good for data protection. We've been able to protect our public-facing infrastructure. We haven't had any incidents or compromises in the entire three years we've used Radware. The Cloud WAF Service blocks unknown threats and attacks effectively. The analytics are very good. The API discovery feature is very helpful, and end-to-end API protection is useful. Everything is encrypted to ensure effective protection. We get Layer 7 protection from it. The API discovery is a very useful feature. It is easy to use. A few months before, I did a demo to learn more. We can see which APIs are being used or not. It helps us discover and remove unused APIs. In our case, we found 20 APIs that were not used by the team. We use the CDN features. It's pretty easy to use the combination of CDN and Cloud WAF. It helps your Radware Cloud connect with the nearest server or the Redware server. We have multiple servers worldwide, so this is useful for us. Integration is very easy. Sometimes, we have 10 to 15 applications hosted on the cloud. It's very easy to add applications. It's not complicated. From the Radware cloud, it's integrated with our SOC. All the logs are received by the SOC.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Smaller businesses have seen great ROI due to the low investment and strong performance."
"Cloudflare offers CDN and DDoS protection. We have the front end, API, and database in how you structure applications."
"The tool is user-friendly."
"When using services like Heroku, Cloudflare is very useful for CNAME flattening. I also use it for their end-to-end SSL with TLS authentication on nginx for securing servers."
"Centralized, full-featured DNS."
"The DDoS protection is the most valuable aspect of the solution."
"From what I've seen so far, there are no negatives to report as of yet"
"The most valuable feature of the solution is external DNS. It is also very secure. They have their own main server and once you configure it, the product takes care of everything. There are no issues in resolving IPs and low latency is also present."
"It provides an ease of policy management."
"I like its ability to identify known attacks, including DDOS attacks. It's valuable because software must be able to stop known attacks. Application attacks are evolving all the time. When it comes to software-as-a-service, we need to have software that knows about all the latest attacks. It should also protect against major unknown attacks."
"The most valuable features of the solution are it is plug and play, has automated policies, a simple configuration, and is easy to create rules."
"The product's bot protection feature is valuable for our company."
"The solution can be used for threat prevention or as a cloud-to-cloud backup system"
"Cloud WAF's interface is easy to use and protects us from OWASP Top Ten threats. Our dev team do QA checks on applications before they go live, but Cloud WAF creates an additional security layer on our website."
"I particularly appreciate the low administrative burden of this solution, as well as the excellent monitoring tools."
"The best feature is the SQL injection signatures, and another is the DDoS protection. Radware is more efficient than other solutions."
"Radware Bot Manager has been very useful. If any user tries to save a password on a mobile or a browser, it blocks that. We can see all the details about the traffic and port requests."
"Importantly, we have not experienced any zero-day attacks because Radware Cloud offers protection against emerging threats."
"The API Discovery is also very good because the application is outsourced, which means that we don't have the code. API Discovery allowed me to discover precisely how to orchestrate the API so that I could see the results."
"DDoS protection is a valuable feature that works efficiently."
"Radware Cloud WAF Service ensures our systems are stable, running smoothly, and blocking all attacks effectively."

Cons

"The timing aspect can lead to it being considered overpriced. This is a particular concern we have with Cloudflare, as they may struggle with accurately detecting the client."
"Cloudflare's console should be made more user-friendly."
"The tool needs to improve caching of servers. The product needs to include PFX certificate as well."
"It would be good if Cloudflare could have more servers for better traffic routing or an increase in the traffic routed. This is what I'd like to improve in Cloudflare."
"Integration involving API with other products could be more user-friendly."
"It should have easier documentation for the configuration. It's very technical and people who aren't technical should also be able to do the configuration."
"Although I think it's quite good, it doesn't provide me with all the features I would expect to have if I were using Imperva."
"Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't be able to buy Cloudflare in my country."
"We found it a bit slow when accessing it through the web browser. The URL also exposed the user name and the hashed password. When I log into my Barracuda WAF user portal, I could see the username and the hashed password on the URL itself. So, it is not very secure, and it is important to take that off."
"The stability of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"One significant area for improvement in Barracuda WAF-as-a-Service lies in its market positioning and pricing strategy."
"It's a very specific solution that is only requested for a customer's web code or their global IT policy."
"The solution can improve by bundling Security Operation Center (SOC) with the WAF-as-a-Service, it would provide a lot more value to customers."
"Radware Cloud WAF Service should provide SSL certificates for its hosting customers."
"The lower-level technical team at Radware could improve their approach to problem-solving as they sometimes are very slow."
"It would be ideal if Radware could offer a bundled package that includes Cloud WAF, web DDoS protection, bot manager, and Alteon for a more comprehensive security solution."
"There is a lot more that is expected from Radware's automated analytics for looking at events. There needs to be more context of where protection is required these days."
"The initial setup was complex and took a long time to complete."
"We've had some issues with putting certificates in."
"If we want to publish services to a limited number of providers and we only want those providers to connect, we need to forward those requests to the Radware support team and they apply them, but it takes some time."
"An area of improvement is the visibility at the attack level."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I believe their performance has improved, but I'd like to refrain from discussing the pricing aspect related to the cloud. The pricing, in my opinion, could be simplified, and I think they should consider reevaluating the pricing for support, as it can be quite high. At times, this cost can make it challenging to choose CARFAGuard or opt for the support."
"The solution is expensive when compared to other products but offers unlimited bandwidth."
"The price is reasonable."
"The solution has many features but there are ones that you need to pay for. Sometimes you have to find out which is available for free and which you have to pay for."
"We are using the free version."
"The tool is a premium product, so it is very expensive."
"So far I use free tier and happy with it. You can subscribe to business package if needed."
"A free version of the solution is available."
"I rate the product's price a five on a scale of one to ten, where one is low, and ten is high. There are no additional costs to be paid apart from the standard licensing fees attached to the solution."
"It's very difficult for me to give an estimate of the cost. All I know is that we sell the box itself as a service."
"The product is expensive but it offers flexible pricing. It could be affordable."
"I am not directly involved in pricing and setup cost discussions, but it seems that Radware offers a more cost-effective solution compared to F5. It is considered a good value for our budget."
"We are paying $20,000 annually for six licenses that provide basic WAF functionality."
"Radware Cloud WAF Service falls within a mid-range price bracket compared to other web application firewall solutions."
"The price is a bulk average."
"We are based in El Salvador and don't have a direct license with Radware; we purchase the license through resellers. The pricing is reasonable, as I managed an Akamai product in a previous position, and Cloud WAF is competitively priced."
"The pricing is fair."
"When compared to Akamai and F5, Radware's pricing and licensing are highly competitive."
"The pricing is fair; it's neither particularly cheap nor expensive."
