We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The interface is available in the edit portal.""It provides all the security to us. Without getting on the internet, we can access our servers. We can access our desktop through our web browser. We don't need to run the mstsc command and login to the VM. All those things are not required.""The product's setup is easy.""As an Azure consultant, for me, it is the best way to give the administrator access as you can manage the permission - including who can access Bastion.""The most significant advantage lies in its runbook features, particularly beneficial for our infrastructure team.""The ability to operate the product with scripting is excellent.""The connection to virtual machines is very useful.""Azure Bastion makes it easy to provide quick virtual machine access to our customers."

"The auto-labeling feature is definitely the most valuable feature. It goes in and labels the documents for you in different repositories. It covers the Outlook and Exchange repositories along with SharePoint and OneDrive. It is really helpful in those areas.""The product can block the uploads to cloud services.""I rate Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention's stability a ten out of ten.""It has helped our clients to reduce the time to action on insider threats because it can be integrated.""The most valuable features are identifying sensitive data and issuing alerts.""For Purview's natively integrated compliance across Azure, Dynamics 365, and Office 365, I would give it a 10 out of 10. It provides all the insights and information.""We can use Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention to manage devices and site policies.""Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention's responses are faster. Its installation is also reliable. The security score helps with the security part."

Cons
"There are some challenges because Bastion is more compatible with Edge but not with the other browsers. As an organization, it doesn't make sense that we have to use only Edge. We should be able to access Bastion over Chrome, Mozilla, or Opera. It should be our choice.""The solution breaks down sometimes.""The protocol speed could be faster.""When you have a boot issue on Windows, you cannot use Azure Bastion to fix it. You have to use the Azure console or the VM console, and it is very limited.""We are not able to copy and paste files directly into the server over the patch host. We have to transfer files over to Azure Storage.""While general support is valuable, having a detailed breakdown of the specific issues would contribute to a more streamlined and efficient resolution process.""You are charged for retrieving your own data."

"There is a lot of ambiguity when you are setting up labels, such as sensitive information labels. It is a little daunting at first if you don't have prior knowledge, and there is a little bit of a learning curve for setting up the labels. Some of the setup wizards could be more helpful from an AI perspective. They can streamline the setup through more AI technologies so that you don't have to jump through so many hoops and different menus and dropdowns. It would be useful to have a setup wizard that is more hands-off and engaging for setting up the information type labels. If you tell them this is what we're trying to protect, it should basically start to lead you down that path of best practices. Such a feature would be great.""Technical support is awful.""I would like Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention to be on the source code or SQL databases. It is difficult to do classification and labeling when you have a third-party source code or a third-party Oracle database. It is seamless when it comes to Microsoft documents but is not so with third-party source codes. Microsoft needs to work on it a little bit more.""They do not provide language options beyond the ones already available, so our language option is missing.""A site can have different containers where you store data. We have always wanted to apply compliance, labels, and policies at the container level, rather than to an outer shell or at the site level. That is something we have been looking forward to and I believe Microsoft is already planning something like that.""The solution should provide better integration with other systems.""There is a need for improvements, particularly in ensuring that file-based recognition is more reliable and comprehensive.""Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention's licensing is expensive."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The pricing is a lower decision point than high-quality security for our organization. Better security comes at a cost, but it's worth it, and that's what we tell our customers."
  • "Azure Bastion's pricing is good."
  • "It does not save money for us."

  • "It is a part of our Microsoft licensing. We pay for a yearly renewal. Its price is reasonable for the size of the organization we are. It is fairly competitive, and you get what you pay for. We have an E5 license, and a part of understanding the E5 license is to see what all you get with it. If you really look at it from that standpoint, you get a lot of value. You have Defender and all its security features in there as well. Their licensing is fairly flexible. They have different programs. We've seen ones where you could pay for up to three to five years in advance. There is also a monthly pay-as-you-go type of deal, but we're doing a yearly renewal and fixing the budget."
  • "Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention is part of a bundle and is not sold as a standalone product."
  • "The product has the best price-to-performance ratio."
  • "It's a little bit pricey compared to competitors, but it's not too high."
  • "We are using the E3 license for Microsoft 365 with the E5 compliance license add-on."
  • "The pricing is reasonable."
  • "I am satisfied with the tool's pricing."
