Simplify compliance and management of multiple backups with centralized cloud solutions
AWS Backup could benefit from including more services. Currently, it only includes around ten services, while AWS offers over three hundred plus services. Also, it would be helpful if AWS Backup could integrate logs more thoroughly. This would allow not only new users but also experienced users to more easily check logs directly from AWS Backup.

Lacks multi-platform support and physical infrastructure but excels in storage optimization
We use it for VM backup and Office 365 backup I find the solution to be user-friendly and easy to manage and deploy. It provides storage for Office 365, which is beneficial, and the deduplication technology is excellent, especially in optimizing storage capacity compared to others. In terms of…

"Reporting is one of the key elements that are valuable for C-suite executives. In terms of monitoring, the solution provides comprehensive details into ongoing processes, flagging issues and warnings as necessary."
"It works well as a backup and as a service."
"The product has many valuable features for handling backup needs, including replication, live migration, and incremental disaster recovery."
"Excellent compression and deduplication with off-site WAN backup included."
"It is an excellent product. It is easy to deploy, stable, and fast. Their support is excellent."
"I find the solution to be user-friendly and easy to manage and deploy."
"VM backup and the item level recovery are the most valuable features."
"Reverse Delta is Altaro proprietary backup deduplication technology. With Reverse Delta, the latest version of a file is always made available in its entirety, not as a delta file."
"The ease of use of the solution is its most valuable feature. The interface is also excellent."
"Hornetsecurity Altaro VM Backup's most valuable features include its user-friendly interface and the ability to perform data compression updates, which enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness."

Cons

"If AWS Backup were a hybrid solution that also supported on-premises backups then it would be very helpful, especially if you are doing a migration to the cloud."
"AWS Backup could benefit from including more services."
"If AWS could also add some hybrid cloud features to AWS Backup, that would be a significant improvement. For example, currently, AWS Backup only backs up to the S3 and Amazon Cloud, and you can only restore from the Amazon Cloud only. However, some people have hybrid environments. They have some workloads on-premises and some workloads in the cloud."
"There could be a centralized dashboard with a reporting feature notifying us of daily backup status."
"They should work on their visual capabilities."
"The initial setup of the solution is complex."
"This backup tool does the full backup of the entire snapshot server. I would like to have the option to not do the full server backup."
"Its cost could be better than a few of its competitors."
"Basically, how it works is that you have a single local drive, and then you have a cloud backup. It'd be nice if you could rotate the single local backup drive. As of now, you can't."
"The solution needs multi-platform support as it is currently only available for VMware and Hyper-V."
"Stability."
"Availability of physical server backup would be an added advantage."
"To improve Altaro, I would like to see the ability to choose more than one backup location at a time."
"It would be nice to see a feature that backs up the host so that, in case of a server failure, an entire server could be restored all at once."
"The application could include a feature to install a set size of data, such as the ability to store a single application with all its registry information for easy transfer."
"The solution needs multi-platform support as it is currently only available for VMware and Hyper-V. It also lacks support for physical servers and workstations."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's a myth that Cloud is cheap. Cloud is cheap initially, but the cost over time can be equal to your own infrastructure if you consume a lot."
"The pricing is decent."
"AWS Backup is free of cost, but we need to pay for the backup storage being used."
"Price-wise, I rate the solution a six out of ten. One only has to pay for the storage cost of AWS solutions, which is the standard cost provided by AWS."
"The product is inexpensive."
"We don't use a lot of space, only approximately 900 GB, so the price is reasonable. For standing, it's okay. We normally do a payment to SSML, and they are the ones who pay over there. It is around $100 monthly."
"There are no licensing costs for AWS Backup. You pay only for the amount of backup storage you use and then the data transferred between regions. Overall AWS Backup is priced reasonably."
"Its price is much cheaper than some vendors but more expensive than others."
"There is a free version for Hosts with 2 VMs."
"The price is great for the utility you get and the licensing has never caused any issues with my company."
"There is a free version for two VMs. I would advise to study the deployment environment well, prior to committing to order a license per host."
"Altaro VM Backup is affordably priced. It is a best value for its price and has almost every feature that an expensive, popular product offers."
"Its yearly maintenance fee is fairly high for me to renew for upgrades and support."
"Altaro had the best prices and ROI in the whole bunch that we evaluated."
"The pricing is okay,"
"No other product offers these features for this price. The ROI is great."
