Unified monitoring has provided real-time visibility and simplified network troubleshooting
One area of Auvik Network Management (ANM) that could be improved is that once it discovers network devices, the naming at times is confusing. Auvik Network Management (ANM) does not always bring out the hostname and instead brings out a generic name, which I then need to change. If Auvik Network Management (ANM) could improve this aspect so that when it discovers devices, it correctly retrieves the hostname every time, it would eliminate the need to edit each hostname, especially on PCs and printers. The GUI is fine. Auvik Network Management (ANM) has a level of access control where I can manage access and control user access to Auvik Network Management (ANM) portal. The GUI is acceptable for me. Gaining instant visibility into my network health with Auvik Network Management (ANM) is easy because from the setup, it is straightforward. For instance, I manage different sites, so all I need is to install Auvik Network Management (ANM) collector on any server in the environment. Once I install the collector, I automatically start discovering devices. The beauty of Auvik Network Management (ANM) is that it separates devices into tabs for routers, switches, wireless, computers and hosts, and others. At times it might not categorize some devices properly, but I can move them to the right sub-interfaces. In terms of visibility, it is very easy and fast compared to other management solutions I have used. Most other solutions are agentless, so they do not discover much and you might need to add them manually. With Auvik Network Management (ANM), I do not need to add anything manually as it discovers and updates automatically. Using Auvik Network Management (ANM) is mostly easy. I do not have any challenges. In terms of usability, it is fine. The visibility it provides is top-notch. Deployment is also easy. The only suggestion I would make is to make some of the fonts on the images on the topology bolder. Outside that, Auvik Network Management (ANM) is fine because from Auvik Network Management (ANM) management plane, I can push configurations to my devices, do backups, and many other things. Auvik Network Management (ANM) provides a network map along with its dashboard that gives me a real-time picture of my network. I have tested the intelligence myself by adding a new device on the network and after some minutes, seeing Auvik Network Management (ANM) update its topology. Even down to VPN and SSL site-to-site VPN access to other branches, Auvik Network Management (ANM) pulls out all these connections. When I have a new engineer on my team, I tell them to look at the topology, which is the network topology there. There is no need to draw with draw.io or Visio. It is Auvik Network Management (ANM). Using the network map and dashboard in Auvik Network Management (ANM) to gain real-time visibility into my network is somewhat easy. If Auvik Network Management (ANM) could work on making the pictures bolder, it would help considerably. Sometimes I need to open the topology in another tab and put it on another screen to make it bolder. If Auvik Network Management (ANM) could enhance the pictures to make them more bold, it would go a long way.

Dynamic discovery and effective network topology make IT monitoring valuable
The solution enables dynamic discovery and incorporates a powerful configuration management database, CMDB, along with a strong correlation engine. It covers the entire span of the infrastructure, including servers and network operations. It also adapts well to different environments, showing network topology effectively, making the network monitoring tool quite valuable.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's simplified tasks and made things easier."
"The biggest draw for me is the flexibility of being alerted. If something happens with my critical infrastructure, I get real-time alerts on it in Teams."
"It's incredibly important, given our work as a managed service provider, to have a single pane of glass environment. That is very crucial to being able to identify and diagnose issues with a network and fix them promptly. We don't have to log in to 15 different devices to track down how things are connected."
"The impact of Auvik Network Management (ANM) on my organization has been nothing but positive."
"Auvik's setup time and automated network mapping and documentation provides time-to-value, and the amount of value that you get then in perpetuity relative to the installation is very high."
"Having one piece of software that has all that combined is really nice."
"The network mapping, the logical layout, is the part that I love the most, showing what switch is connected to what switch. I couldn't live without it. That is the big selling point for me."
"Auvik's email alerts are convenient because we're always monitoring email, and it's easier to receive the alerts in your inbox."
"The solution enables dynamic discovery and incorporates a powerful configuration management database, CMDB, along with a strong correlation engine."
"We can detect non-compliant devices and automate remediation actions to cover the gap in the configuration standards."
"When it comes to customization, Micro Focus is more mature than its competitors."

Cons

"The alerts are still a bit noisy. I know they are working on that. They're testing some changes to the data to dial down the noise. Sometimes, we'll get multiple alerts for the same issue until it's fixed. Since it's tied to our ticketing system, it's also generating tickets each time, so we had to turn off the ticketing until we got a better grasp on that."
"The solution can improve by increasing the tech file management capability."
"I wish there was a way to reduce the cost somehow."
"Two weeks ago, we were able to access the support chat via a small button on the bottom right side of the screen. Now, that button has gone away and it has become pretty difficult to access support right now, as long as there is no chat button available."
"It should be easier to see Mac addresses."
"Tying in with the IP address and the network mapping could be improved."
"The automation side needs improvement... A really important one was about a SonicWall firewall that needs to be rebooted every single month. You can do that in the SonicWall GUI, but you can't do it in Auvik. Hundreds of people have endorsed the idea of having an automated command line interface command run on any device that supports it."
"They can implement a more collective network mapping to help reduce any congestive features. When it came down to many of the companies we worked with, their networks were already pre-structured, so we didn't have as much congestion. Given the fact that I could see how that would be an issue, maybe there would be a better way they could collapse or compile the network mapping issues."
"Micro Focus Network Management doesn't support end-to-end monitoring of cloud infrastructure. Micro Focus might have different cloud solutions for cloud automation and hybrid cloud management. There are a lot of products that also support automation. That is different, but it should monitor the cloud from an IT operations management perspective."
"It may need a more customizable UI."
"The user interface is outdated and needs improvement, especially for service and topology maps."
"Micro Focus Network Management doesn't support end-to-end monitoring of cloud infrastructure."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing could be tiered so that you get a discount for more devices. We're fairly early on in the billing process, but it could be slightly cheaper."
"I find Auvik's pricing to be a good value for the features offered."
"I do not have a whole lot of information on the pricing, but our pricing seems to be okay. Internally, we have not had any issues with it, so we have not had the need to discuss pricing."
"I believe we have a special arrangement with them because we, as an MSP, take care of some of their technical services."
"The pricing is good for what it does. It has been a few months, so I do not remember exactly how much it was. I believe for our network here, it was about 2,000 a year, so the pricing was good. A lot of printers and things of that nature are not one of the charged devices."
"It seems that the pricing is a little higher than some of the other solutions, but it also offers more value and data."
"The pricing is reasonable, neither exceptionally cheap nor excessively expensive—it aligns well with what I anticipated."
"It is a little more on the expensive side, but I feel that it is a premium product. It is good."
"Micro Focus' price is on the higher side, but there are other products like CA products and IBM that are more expensive. At the same time, you have to compare the maturity level of the solutions."
