Process-Level CPU Visibility: Introduce detailed CPU-usage metrics per subsystem (e.g., IPS engine, logging) so administrators can quickly identify and address performance spikes.
Analytics with FortiAnalyzer. Being able to pull in logs not just from our FortiGates but from all our other firewalls and then get them in one view has been a game changer. Whether I’m building an executive dashboard or doing a deep dive forensics session, I get everything I need without navigating consoles.Straightforward Application Control. FortiGate spots and blocks unwanted apps (eq. like BitTorrent or streaming services) with accuracy. Segmentation with VDOMs. We’ve carved our data center into four logical ‘mini-firewalls’ enterprise, core, billing, and WAF—all on one box. Each has its own rules and logs, and any traffic between them still gets inspected. It’s like having multiple appliances without the extra hardware. Always-Up-to-Date Threat Feeds. Daily signature updates and AI-driven threat sensing mean we’re blocking the latest vulnerabilities almost as soon as they’re announced.

Secure internet access has reduced threats and simplifies firewall management for distributed teams
Threat detection needs improvement; Arista Edge Threat Management NG Firewall should follow Alto and Fortinet. One limitation that I've seen is AI-driven automation which needs to vastly improve. It has fewer third-party integrations, and therefore the adoption amongst very large enterprises is less; it's largely with the SMBs. Customer support can be improved. It's a smaller global footprint that Arista provides, with fewer certified partners in some regions and limited 24/7 support for premium vendors. I've categorically mentioned that it has sophisticated threat detection capabilities but they can be bettered. AI-driven automation can be improved, and therefore, I think the adoption with large enterprises can be much better. I think the current AI capabilities of Arista Edge Threat Management NG Firewall are a bit limited compared to other vendors. It primarily relies on threat intelligence feeds, signature-based detection, and reputation services. Currently, I would rate its AI capabilities as probably a seven out of ten because it does not provide for extensive GenAI or advanced ML-driven autonomous capabilities like some of its competitors. Threat intelligence aspects can be further improved, and I think there's a lot that the product can do with respect to the usage of AI. AI-driven automation and threat detection can vastly improve. I don't think they were purchased through AWS Marketplace. The adoption has to increase amongst large customers, and threat intelligence needs to improve for many customers to adopt, enhancing the security ecosystem that is relatively small.

Automation has transformed reconciliation accuracy and now cuts manual effort across operations
Turbot's best feature is its ease of use and simple installation process, as it is a no-code, low-code platform. It is well integrated with all libraries that can be used directly with drag and drop feature availability, including Excel automation, Outlook automation, reading and writing emails, and automating web portals with the Universal Recorder feature, which records all applications using one single recorder whether it is a desktop application, web application, or mainframe application. The Universal Recorder has positively impacted my daily work and my team's productivity because we do not have to rely on any other recorder and have consistency of the XPath and web element capturing. It automatically captures depending on the target application. Users do not have to do anything else; they just have to start the recorder, click on the actions, and things will get recorded easily. Another feature of Turbot is the low-code Cockpit web application, which provides a real pictorial view of all the bots on the dashboards, showing what is running, what is in progress, what is paused or failed. It has a continuous notification system in case of failures and successful bot executions, and includes a user management feature with role-based access control. Since integrating with Turbot, our organization has benefited by reducing the FTE percentage from 5% of the manual team using it. We have cut down almost 20 FTE resources, which has saved our costs, and the integration of automation with Turbot has served significantly in the cost optimization part. These cost savings and resource reductions were seen within a year of implementing Turbot. The specific process that benefited the most was related to retail operations of reconciliation of the manual books. Turbot integrates well with all other applications such as Excel, Outlook, the S3 bucket of AWS, and other API applications, which can be easily integrated with the help of REST API and SOAP components directly available. It also has a rich feature for developing custom libraries and components which are easily accessible through the toolbox of the application. Turbot has rich documentation with user guides that can be directly followed, and there are YouTube videos now published on Turbot application on how to get started and how to begin with one single RPA bot to convert manual tasks into automation.

Pros

"The solution has improved my organization significantly, with impactful capabilities such as sandboxing and cloud solutions, such as XDR, MDR, and EDR."
"I haven't configured or experienced any stability issues."
"Fortinet's scalability and stability are fine because I have three units across India, and none have gone down so far."
"The features that I have found most valuable are the SD-WAN and their IP4 policy."
"The solution is very user-friendly."
"The fact that Fortinet FortiGate IPS can prevent and log malicious intrusions, tries, and attempts is great."
"Fortinet FortiGate works well for me."
"The most valuable features of Fortinet FortiGate are remote access, web filtering, and IPS."
"Phish Blocker is a valuable feature."
"The product's initial setup phase is easy."
"Arista Edge Threat Management NG Firewall has positively impacted my organization by reducing botnet attacks."
"I would say that if you're a small and medium enterprise or an education institution and you have a distributed organization looking for a cost-effective and easy-to-manage next-generation firewall solution with fairly good security, VPN, filtering, and centralized management, then Arista Edge Threat Management NG Firewall is an excellent choice."
"Since integrating with Turbot, our organization has benefited by reducing the FTE percentage from 5% of the manual team using it, we have cut down almost 20 FTE resources, which has saved our costs, and the integration of automation with Turbot has served significantly in the cost optimization part."

Cons

"Improvement is needed in the Web Filter quotas to restrict users with allocated quotas."
"There's room for improvement in the interface, especially following their upgrade to version nineteen."
"I see room to explore its integration with Secure Service Automation for a more comprehensive security view."
"A sandbox would be good in order to be able to inspect the emails containing spam and be able to validate the emails that contain malware, prior to delivering to the customer."
"In some cases, its initial setup could be hard for customers."
"Their technical support could be improved a little bit in terms of responsiveness."
"At the moment, the main concern is the pricing and the type of licensing. Fortinet offers different types of licensing, and my idea is that the best approach is to have only one, two, or a maximum of three types of licensing."
"Another issue is how deduplication services don't work reliably after enabling deduplication on Fortinet."
"Arista Edge Threat Management NG Firewall can be improved, particularly the user interface, which is not very good, and also the logs, which are not very good."
"The product has a lot to improve in the area of policy implementation."
"Threat detection needs improvement; Arista Edge Threat Management NG Firewall should follow Alto and Fortinet."
"The documentation is not clear."
"The support system of Turbot needs more improvement in terms of raising SLA tickets and maintaining the TAT should get a little more refined, but not in respect to features, as rest of all things are good."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"While slightly more affordable than competitors, it remains relatively expensive due to its inclusive subscription."
"The price for the device and software is high. However, the solution is of good quality and has a lot of features."
"The cost is too high... They have to focus on more features with less cost for the customer. If you see the market, where it's going, there are a lot of players offering more features for less cost."
"The license is too expensive to renew. The license renewal process is also complex."
"The product is expensive."
"If you purchase a one-year subscription with the hardware and then you want to renew for the second year, it is very costly."
"It is around $50,000 per month."
"It is expensive. You need to pay for the subscription every year, which is very expensive. The subscription includes technical support and hardware exchange in case of failure."
"I consider it an averagely-priced tool."
"The tool is quite cheap."
