Managed cloud services have helped accelerate experiments with flexible configuration options
Sometimes the costs associated with spinning up a service, especially managed services, have implications. For example, if I create a Glue job, that will create S3 buckets and other resources that have cost implications, but once I clean up a Glue job, it does not delete the other accessory resources. Sometimes, I have to go hunting for what resources Amazon AWS might have provisioned and how it is costing behind the scenes. It can be complex depending on your level of expertise. It is not as easy to get started, especially when it comes to secure practices. Amazon AWS is more hands-on than other platforms.

Enjoy cost-effective hosting with flexible deployment and room for payment model improvement
I use only one feature, which is the droplet, and it has been satisfactory. The droplet feature is valuable for hosting my applications as it is particularly cost-effective and serves my needs well. I also have total freedom over what I use, and I have a better user interface and documentation compared to Oracle.

Real-time data processing and good support with room for market-driven improvements
SAP RFX and overall SAP solutions provide a very intuitive and integrated solution within finance, leading procurement, and other business scenarios. The real-time data processing and the ability to track all leasing processes and contracts are particularly valuable. SAP's capability to integrate with other systems like GIS and non-SAP applications also stands out.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"They are enterprising and pretty good in terms of features. It has good security. Its availability is also pretty good. It is available everywhere in the world. It has pretty good integrations, and it is working well. They have done a lot of improvements, and its UI has improved a lot."
"The solution offers a low footprint. We don't have to come up with a data center ourselves. We basically don't have to own any hardware. We just rent a slice of their platform and we have everything we need."
"It's easy to manage. We can use a wide range of technologies with AWS."
"It has many choices of computer options, storage options, and even database options."
"There is less work for the DBAs. Everything is handled in AWS itself."
"Macie is great. It is a service that makes recommendations on a data layer for cybersecurity. It is a great service."
"The most valuable features of Amazon AWS are the high level of capabilities, cloud-native environment, developer-friendly, intuitive interface, and automation. The solution overall is easy to learn from the resources available."
"They release new solutions almost every quarter and you don't get that kind of innovation from an enterprise company."
"The solution's app platform simplifies many tasks a developer must handle manually. For instance, when serving a website, the app platform uses NGINX to manage the app's serving, caching, and automatic rerunning in case of failure."
"The customer support team are very responsive."
"The solution is easy to set up."
"It's been a good choice for us for some services. We generally have several deployments. For instance, for some static Angular applications, it was a clear choice to run them on Cloudflare, which performs very well in this context. All the assets go on DigitalOcean."
"The Droplets feature is beneficial and easy to use."
"The team was particularly satisfied with the flexibility of the service and the rules for managing virtual machines on DigitalOcean."
"The user interface is nice, and it is very easy to use. Anyone can use it."
"DigitalOcean is much cheaper compared to Oracle, Amazon, and Google, making it a better option for a startup."
"The processes and the way we take advantage and use assistance are good."
"The most valuable feature is virtual modeling, which is beneficial because you don't really save the data multiple times the way we did in the past."
"Traditionally, SAP worked with Oracle databases, but SAP is getting rid of the other databases and promoting its own. SAP will stop support for other databases around 2026, so everyone is moving to SAP S/4HANA for the performance and because it's the preferred database for SAP. S/4HANA has new features from the front-end or application feature perspective. The idea is to move toward future-ready technology."
"One of the features that I've found most useful is that It's very simple. They take care of the technical aspects of the data, installations, patches."
"There's a minimum amount of downtime when using the solution. This platform is very effective."
"The BTP module is important for digital transformations."
"It has significantly streamlined our operations."
"My company has not had any problems with the product's initial setup phase."

Cons

"Faster API response times and an improved console experience would be better. Enhanced performance across APIs and the console would streamline our workflows."
"There's a huge cost for support."
"AWS could be more scalable."
"I think that the interface could be improved."
"The invoicing procedure of Amazon AWS needs to be improved. It can be difficult to manage."
"Some features may be better in Azure or some other portal. AWS could add some of those features."
"Instead of using some third-party solutions, Amazon should include them as part of its offering."
"The pricing could be adjusted to provide more advantages versus current on-premise solutions for business applications."
"The platform could enhance its features, particularly for ETL processes. Additionally, more integration features would be highly beneficial."
"The lack of a proper service provider model ultimately led us to cease operations with DigitalOcean."
"The deployment time can be improved in DigitalOcean. While deployment is automated, the process can take a minute and a half to five minutes, and for more complex applications, this time increases even further. This is not optimal for applications that receive frequent updates."
"I think something needs to be done in terms of technical support."
"DigitalOcean could offer a pay-as-you-go model similar to AWS, where I would pay for what I use rather than having fixed payments."
"I would like to see improvements to the logging and user interface. The verification process could be more streamlined."
"I would like to see an automation feature added to send emails out using the open-source solution."
"The solution could improve by having integration with GitHub."
"Customization is an area of concern in SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud, where improvements are required."
"SAP support isn't on par with products like Microsoft Azure or AWS. It's nowhere close to the competitors."
"The solution is scalable from an infrastructure point of view. However, it becomes more complex over time because technology is changing so fast."
"They should probably offer more cloud services. Most of the cloud infrastructure providers we have make everything pretty transparent, you know what you're getting, you have all these metrics and measurements and everything in the dashboard. Here you have to go through the contracting negotiations and all those things."
"The price of SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud is quite expensive compared to solutions such as Data Fabric in Azure and Redshift on Amazon, which are quite cheap in comparison."
"The only thing that could be improved is the cost."
"SAP should adopt more rapid changes in market processes and customer needs to deliver solutions that meet new industry requirements swiftly."
"Perhaps minor changes to the enterprise structure could be made, but the rest is fine."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Looking at the primary market for AWS, I see that there's a lot of customers who have only mid-level performance requirements, because you will have all these normal applications such as online auction websites, gaming applications, voice applications, and so on. These are not, for example, large monitoring applications, financial independents, or brick and mortar companies. So AWS caters to about 40% of the market when it comes to general applications. As it happens, in many cases, you simply don't need the high-performance offerings from AWS, nor the innovative products from Google Cloud Platform, which can come with large price tags."
"The solution is expensive, and I rate it an eight out of ten."
"The price is quite good; it is a pay-as-you-go option."
"Some customers will provide their own license and others will purchase it directly from AWS."
"The pricing may vary and is often influenced by marketing strategies."
"This is a subscription-based service and there are licensing fees."
"I rate the tool's pricing a six to seven out of ten."
"When we shifted the load to AWS we paid a high cost as the mail stores were hosted on EBS. The storage cost drastically reduced after moving to S3."
"I am using the cheapest option available, which costs $50 per month."
"The tool's pricing is cheap."
"There is no licensing fee but there is a subscription cost based on how much RAM and storage you require."
"I would rate DigitalOcean's pricing a six out of ten, where one is cheap, and ten is very expensive."
"The pricing is cheap."
"The price of DigitalOcean could be lower. It is expensive. it's higher than other solutions available in the market. We pay approximately $20 to $25 a month to use the solution. The price we pay is for the shared CPU option."
"The solution provides the cheapest cloud in comparison to the other cloud solutions."
"The program is cheaper than others."
"The solution could be less expensive."
"SAP may not be the most cost-effective option, but it does offer a comprehensive set of tools and features. When you have the right information, structure, and dashboard in place, it can provide excellent value. Additionally, competition with Oracle might be a factor to consider."
"The licensing of the solution is on a yearly basis. The normal price of the solution is quite high, but I received a special discount by making a purchase near the end of the year."
"The price is on little bit higher. For SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud, we see roughly five crores per annum."
"The price is expensive compared to the competition."
"The price is high compared to other databases, which is why HANA is still not widely used. Some enterprises prefer Sybase, Oracle, or other traditional databases because HANA is a little pricey. Cost is one factor SAP needs to work on to make it more competitive with other databases. Otherwise, they'll never be able to develop a mass customer base."
"If you choose the minimum, it will probably cost around $1,000 USD per month if you take a contract for a year or two."
"It's very, very expensive."
