Reliable image backups have protected our HMIs and simplified on‑premises recovery
We have not tried the vulnerability assessment feature yet because we have a different set of protocols for our cybersecurity. We conduct audits and plug the gaps as part of our security approach. We are not using AI with the anti-malware from Acronis; we are using it only for backup and recovery. On the backup and restoration side with Acronis Backup, some on-premises AI features which can detect anomalies may be something which would improve the product significantly. Otherwise, we are not very comfortable with cloud-based solutions at this time. We are looking for products which are entirely on-premises, so they remain within our control.

Provides fast access to files and offers a reliable backup solution without compatibility issues
Versioning control helps speed up data recovery by providing easy access to previous versions of files. This is particularly useful when moving backups to off-site storage and deploying them quickly during installations. My experience with Synology Backup's security features includes partitioning for production environments, regular scans for new threats, and support for multifactor authentication. Password security is also emphasized, meeting basic security requirements. Before choosing Synology, consider its sensitivity in your network infrastructure, especially for critical backup and storage tasks. Prioritize security, including testing and recovery procedures, and evaluate the device's performance to ensure it meets your needs effectively. Overall, I would rate Synology C2 Backup as an eight out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The recent release, Acronis 12, is integrated with Cloud Acronis and is useful to backup data while providing a stronger security policy for critical data."
"I can encrypt the data, I can make it send me an email if it fails. It lets me choose which files I want to ignore during backup."
"I don't worry that the backups aren't running or panic when a storm is coming through; it just reassures us because we've seen what it's doing, what it can do, and that it's doing what we're asking it to do."
"There is advanced management where we can do passing, software inventory, and hardware inventory."
"The main reasons that our customers like Acronis are that it is very strong and easy to use."
"It is fast and easy for an image-based backup across all platforms."
"In my opinion, it's the best product for end-users and PCs."
"Buy it."
"It's good for file services."
"I find Synology C2 Backup valuable for its speed, features, and server compatibility."

Cons

"It does not delete locked files."
"The ability to use computing resources, the storage nose is stuck frequently and we have to reboot it, and I'm told that it needs 128GB memory and SAS disk to keep it stable, all of these elements leave me unsatisfied."
"The solution could use a single sign-on integration that can default to the admin dashboard."
"The setup, the initial setup, does different kind of Windows servers and has different kind of agents for different scenarios. Sometimes the initial setup was a little bit complicated."
"The tool's dashboard for daily operations is useful, but I find that it could benefit from enhancements, particularly in terms of reporting. While exporting reports, the format is not fancy as it appears on the dashboard. The exported files are typically in Excel CSV or PDF format."
"It would be nice if it could support more types of storage."
"We are trying to restore from the backups that the supplier help us to create, but we are having problems restoring."
"One improvement that could be made is adding the option to download files in a PST format when doing a 365 or Google Cloud to cloud backup."
"The main drawbacks of Synology C2 Backup are slower processes in certain regions and less frequent updates."
"Improving the pricing would be great."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is significantly higher than it was last year, which is understandable since they have introduced new technology, such as transitioning from backup to cybersecurity."
"The tool is cheap compared to other products."
"I would describe the product as a mid-priced tool for small and medium businesses."
"We pay a yearly subscription fee and the pricing is reasonable."
"I would rate the solution’s pricing an eight out of ten. The tool’s subscription is yearly."
"Its price is quite friendly on the pocket. You need to pay the licensing cost upfront, and then the support charges are on an annual basis."
"The license is a perpetual license. The cost is an area for improvement."
"It is very cost-effective for the SMB segment, especially for start-ups and smaller environments. It is cost-effective for on-premises and on-cloud deployments in such environments."
