We have been using Amazon Inspector and Amazon Trusted Advisor for monitoring. These tools are especially useful for preventing cyberattacks on our systems. I am actually working with AWS. I am particularly strong in AWS. When I look at the product, I am using S3 buckets, Alexa, VPCs, Lambda, and AWS Trusted Advisor. I am using quite a number of services in AWS. I have been using Trusted Advisor for my AI, especially in terms of costs.
Using AWS, I look at the storage of the objects that I store in the S3 bucket. I had videos and images, and I was using AWS for all these things. I needed to determine how long I should make a lifecycle plan to be cost-effective.
I tried storing these particular things in the same bucket yet with different lifecycle plans. I considered whether I should use infrequent access and how long it should stay before transitioning. I use Trusted Advisor to try to be more cost-effective. We were a small group with four people.
The recommendation feature is really good. It helps me see the cost. I can ask: is this cost-effective for me if I have this infrastructure? How can I reduce it?
With AWS IAM, when I had three people, including two DevOps and me, it helped in access management, assigning particular people to certain roles. I knew who was supposed to access what in Trusted Advisor.
Additionally, the AWS dashboard is not bad. It gives an overview of recent changes and findings. The security check is the most important. Security is crucial to avoid things like SQL injections.
The security check provides insight, ensuring the infrastructure is safe, without hackers or unauthorized access. Assigning specific roles to people is important, and in my opinion, the security check is the most important feature.
Maybe if Trusted Advisor could also help us with IP address issues and the status of our VPCs, it would be beneficial. Perhaps this feature exists, and I am just unaware of it.
I have been using Trusted Advisor for about four years.
Stability is okay. I have never had any issues while trying to scale it.
Of course, you need an AWS account. Search for Trusted Advisor in the AWS services tab. Once it appears, select services, then manage, and tap management and governance. This takes you to Trusted Advisor. From there, select manage Trusted Advisor on the left menu, and enable it. It is straightforward to use.
I have some knowledge of GCP, particularly in security and creating reliable platform infrastructure using virtual machines and databases. Most clients I have worked with were AWS, yet working with GCP clients wouldn't take much time.
I would recommend Trusted Advisor to others. AWS can easily show you how to scale, whether it will be cost-effective for you, and provide savings. It is also valuable for security and recommendations. I would definitely recommend it to developers.

AWS gives baseline security hardening guidelines, which are provided by a trusted advisor. But it goes beyond security, offering advice on building, deployment, cost optimization, infrastructure optimization, and even detailed security optimization.
The Security Advisor is the most valuable feature. It instantly informs you about any system misconfigurations, and the best part is, it's completely free.
Maybe adding more security rules would be great. It comes with around 20-25 baseline rules. If you want more, like 300-400 rules, you'd need to purchase Security Hub from AWS.
So, more built-in rules would be good.

Enabling AWS Trusted Advisor at the organization level involves a few additional steps but is still relatively manageable. When enabling it at the organization level, administrators typically need to access the AWS Organizations console to enable Trusted Advisor across all accounts within the organization. This process usually involves setting permissions and access controls to ensure that the appropriate users can view and act on the recommendations provided by Trusted Advisor.
Many people dont use the paid version, not wanting to pay for the full version, which is a shame. Setup is almost automatic and takes about half an hour. It is ClickOps—plug and play.
I would rate the solution a seven out of ten. It is highly functional and effective, but pricing and other considerations may prevent widespread adoption. While it plays a significant role in workload governance, there are similar offerings available.

The solution shows me a lot of cost optimization areas. It also shows me where to tighten my cloud’s security.

We recommend downsizing or upsizing the EBS volume configuration or EC2 instances. The solution helps us reduce and optimize the cost of upscaling or downscaling the AWS infrastructure.
AWS Trusted Advisor is a tool that we can use to optimize the AWS infrastructure cost. The solution provides security compliance by showing us the open ports.
For EC2 instances, we need to install the AWS CloudWatch agent to get the memory metric because we don't have a by-default memory utilization graph on cost optimization. It will only show the network and CPU utilization, and based on these two parameters, we cannot downsize the infra. We need metrics so that we can make a decision to upsize or downsize it.

Whenever we deploy something or whenever we do some changes in the environment, we normally go in AWS Trusted Advisor and check whether any instances lying idle, any rightsizing we can do, whether we can reclaim any EBS volumes, or whether we can recommission any of the databases which are serving Zero IOPs, or whether there are any security-related loopholes in our entire environment. It gives all the checks related to performance issues and cost. It gives those checks.
The cost optimization and security-related fixes in the AWS Trusted Advisor have been great.
We are new to AWS, so whenever we deploy anything, so we get Trusted Advisor help also. It is automated checks, so it's a single thing where we can get all the information. If any instance or any AWS volume is lying idle, the Trusted Advisor certainly pops up and it also gives us how much cost we can save by doing that particular action. Basically, it helps in reducing billing, and it helps in improving security.
The initial setup is easy.
It's been good so far. We haven't found any weak areas.
Whenever they suggest anything or any changes in the environment, we cannot click and simply implement those changes. We have to go and rectify everything and do the changes manually. It's used quite extensively. It's a part of AWS. However, if you have a Google or Azure cloud, it won't pick up anything on that. It's exclusively for AWS.
Technical support is good. We are satisfied with their level of assistance.
We went for CloudHealth, which is one of the solutions for cost optimization. CloudHealth will make sense when you have multiple clouds in your environment. AWS is good, however, in our environment, only AWS is there, so we're using only AWS as a service rather than investing in CloudHealth, which is working across clouds.
It's straightforward to set up. Even if you go with your email ID to the AWS site and open your own email, or AWS account, you will get the Trusted Advisor basic setup. Once you have the pro license enabled, you will get the entire set. It's just a SaaS service. There is no implementation strategy, there is no deployment. It comes in-built into the AWS service. It takes no time at all.
It's in-built as an AWS product. We did not need help from outside consultants.
We do not see an ROI. It's cost-optimized.
I'm not familiar with the licensing costs. We are platinum partners. We get that licensing in-built.
We did not evaluate any other solutions previously.
There's not any version per se that we are on. If you go to the AWS console, they have the Trusted Advisor as a service.
I'd advise others to use the solution. Implementing it is straightforward. You have to just enable the full-fledged license and it just goes in your entire environment.
