Easy to use and very basic, but it's hard to manage attributes
Pros and Cons
  • "I haven't needed to reach out to technical support the entire time I've used the product. It's very basic and very simple, and therefore I've never run into any issues I haven't been able to deal with personally."
  • "To be able to extract a report for business project management notations would be ideal."

What is most valuable?

I find it really easy to use.

You can customize the process very easy.

You can also communicate with people ad they don't even need to have the tool. They can see the processes on the internet which makes it easy to collaborate with people that don't actually choose to use the tool.

It's easy to use generally, due to the fact that it's really basic.

It has also a lot of Planteria, I know how to paint in it, however, you can use different samples, depending on the structures that you want to draw. It has a lot of possiblities.

What needs improvement?

I'm working with Visio Plan 2. I find some lags on this tool. For example, I cannot manage the attributes. For example, for each figure of the process map, I cannot add any further information about it. I can't add the activity or the role that I'm using to relate to other activities. It is very limited by the information that I can use. Managing data is quite limited.

I would love to see five samples for each attempt that I include in my process. I would like to be able to add some extra information. For example, to be able to add some attributes for each item.

To be able to extract a report for business project management notations would be ideal. Another solution, ARIS, lets you configure each item that you add to the Visio model process, and you can add some attributes that we cannot currently add. For example, calls to activity, main indicators, or a lot of descriptions, etc.

After that, to be able to export a report that shows the relation between the functions and the roles that you have related would be great. If it were possible to see different functions for each role and export it, that would be ideal.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for a very, very long time. It's been about ten to eleven years at this point.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is quite stable. We haven't had any issues in that respect. It doesn't crash or freeze and it's not buggy or have glitches.

How are customer service and technical support?

I haven't needed to reach out to technical support the entire time I've used the product. It's very basic and very simple, and therefore I've never run into any issues I haven't been able to deal with personally.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I'm actually currently looking into different options as I am finding Visio's capabilities a bit dated and limiting.

What other advice do I have?

I'm just a customer. I don't have a business relationship with Visio.

For how I use the solution, it's quite good and does what I need it to do. It's unique in terms of drawing processes. That said, it is getting a little bit old. There are other solutions out there that offer many more functionalities and users can work with more information on them. That's really useful. Visio, on the other hand, doesn't have the same kind of capabilities.

That's why I'm currently looking for another application to use. I want to be able to export more information from the business process management notations. Visio could potentially improve on this, and, if they don't I will have to look elsewhere for a solution that can handle this.

Overall, I would rate the solution at a six out of ten due to its general limitations at this point.

Great process management with good collaboration capabilities and great stability
Pros and Cons
  • "This functionality ("invite anyone for feedback") has substantially increased visibility over work-in-progress when it comes to process modelling and overall process management and it decreased the time spent on giving and receiving feedback through emails and through sharing screenshots/.ppt files/Visio files etc."
  • "The user management functionality in Process Manager is not as user friendly as the one in the Collaboration Hub."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution as a support tool towards becoming more focused on process management. This high-level goal can be further broken down into increasing visibility over existing processes, facilitating the design and collaboration on to-be processes, as well as cutting down on external consultants costs related to process management.

Furthermore, we are using Signavio for our enterprise architecture as well, in order to increase visibility over how the different IT systems used in the company are supporting different processes.

How has it helped my organization?

SAP Signavio Process Manager has a strong basis for creating a process organizational structure (process owners, process managers).

Visualizing and collaborating in one place on all cross-functional processes has led to an increased understanding of how everything connects (especially through the use of previous and subsequent processes, but also through the use of the "call activity" function within the BPMN models).

The centralized dictionary has further helped with standardization of items such as roles at a global level.

What is most valuable?

One of the most valuable features was the possibility of not only collaborating with the other system Process Managers and also with non-licensed users (whether Collaboration Hub users or other external users).

This functionality ("invite anyone for feedback") has substantially increased visibility over work-in-progress when it comes to process modelling and overall process management and it decreased the time spent on giving and receiving feedback through emails and through sharing screenshots/.ppt files/Visio files etc.

What needs improvement?

The user management functionality in Process Manager is not as user friendly as the one in the Collaboration Hub. The design, although good compare to other solutions on the market, is not as great as that of the Collaboration Hub.

Furthermore, the integration with SharePoint Online doesn't offer the same benefits as the one with SharePoint classic, meaning that when using the search functionality of "search in content" you will not get results of the text within the SharePoint Online documentation.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for seven months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have not experienced many issues (if any) so far, however, we have also only started using this solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The product offers good scalability options, especially with the SAP acquisition.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support offers prompt answers from our initial contact (sales representatives) to the consultant we worked with during the setup and training.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did use 2c8 Apps, which was not user-friendly enough and didn't offer a cloud solution. It also was difficult to collaborate/share content with the rest of the organization.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward, and although we used Signavio's premium rapid deployment, we could've most likely done it by ourselves.

What about the implementation team?

We implemented the product with the help of Signavio (10 days of consultation efforts).

What was our ROI?

I am unable to give an answer at this point as we are still only starting to work with Signavio.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There is a rather high cost for the Process Manager licenses, however, costs can go down if there are more modules from the Business Transformation Suite added to the contract.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We looked at up to 80 other process modelling solution providers. The top 4 vendors were Aris, Adonis, GBTEC, and Signavio.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Helps identify loopholes and shortcomings in projects, but needs to improve its interface
Pros and Cons
  • "iGrafx gives you the capability of documenting your process and then the ability to use it as a tool for analysis to identify the loopholes and shortcomings of your process."
  • "The solution could benefit from improvements to its interface. More specifically, when compared to other tools, the process modeling features lack symbols or object types that are used to represent the information or data within the process."

What is our primary use case?

My role in my organization is designer and architect. I use iGrafx for process design and process management.

iGrafx is a tool used to implement BPM process management. It streamlines our process and also assists in improving the process.

What is most valuable?

iGrafx gives you the capability of documenting your process and then the ability to use it as a tool for analysis to identify the loopholes and shortcomings of your process.

What needs improvement?

The solution could benefit from improvements to its interface. More specifically, when compared to other tools, the process modeling features lack symbols or object types that are used to represent the information or data within the process. By improving this, the user will have a more varied gamut of tools to showcase the information they have within the process.

Not all processes are the same. We have many types of domains, and all those domains have different types of processes. Adding additional symbols or object types would enable us to better express ourselves, which would result in a more detailed and accurate process.

iGrafx would also benefit from including more diagrams like other solutions offer, along with BNM, which has constructs that can be used.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using iGrafx for one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

iGrapfx is a stable product. I have not seen many outages in the past year.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The product is scalable within limits, depending on your personal requirements. It could be challenging for a large, complex business.

How are customer service and support?

The product is stable, so we have not had too many instances where we needed to reach out to technical support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before using iGrafx, I was using ARIS while working with a previous company.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Our license is a subscription-based model that is per user. The solution is not expensive, I believe a subscription-based model is $10 per user.

What other advice do I have?

iGrafx is a good solution and I would recommend it. Businesses vary in their requirements, if people are looking to implement business process management and have a small budget they should consider this solution. It is a good starting point for their BPM journey.

I would rate this solution a seven out of ten, because the feature list could be better.

Good for collaboration, supports the BPM language, and very stable
Pros and Cons
  • "Collaboration is most valuable. You can collaborate online with many people. People can comment, and you can comment back. It is just like a social network, and that, for me, is very good."
  • "There should be an option to import from and export to Microsoft Visio. Being able to move files back and forth between Blueworks Live and Visio would be good."

What is most valuable?

Collaboration is most valuable. You can collaborate online with many people. People can comment, and you can comment back. It is just like a social network, and that, for me, is very good.

It is easy to make diagrams in this solution. It is running pretty well for me.

What needs improvement?

Anything to support printing out a big diagram would be good. Most often, we like to print the models out on a large piece of paper. It might already be able to do that, and there is probably a button to make a PDF version for an A0 paper size.

There should be an option to import from and export to Microsoft Visio. Being able to move files back and forth between Blueworks Live and Visio would be good.

They can make it less expensive.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for two or three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is very stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We don't have a lot of people using it. It is just for the analyst team. So, we never had to think about scalability.

How are customer service and technical support?

IBM's support is good in Australia. They provide a response to us fairly quickly and within a day or so.

How was the initial setup?

There is no installation. It is an online solution, so all we need to do is log in.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Making it less expensive would be good.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated ARIS and Visio (from Microsoft). We chose this product because it supports the BPM language, and that's what we want to adopt into our business.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution. It is pretty good. I am pretty happy with it.

I would rate IBM Blueworks Live a nine out of 10.

Business process management that provides Office 360 integration and flexibility to use it as a database
Pros and Cons
  • "There were lots of different requirements, and collaboration and review is one of the biggest things. There is also Office 360 integration, and there's flexibility to use it as a database as well."
  • "I haven't used this solution long enough to know what areas could be improved."

What is our primary use case?

We're using this for business process management. We're currently procuring the solution. This is a SAS solution.

There will be five designers and a thousand viewers and collaborators using this solution.

What is most valuable?

There were lots of different requirements, and collaboration and review is one of the biggest things. There is also Office 360 integration, and there's flexibility to use it as a database as well.

What needs improvement?

I haven't used this solution long enough to know what areas could be improved.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's easily scalable. It's almost unlimited.

How was the initial setup?

We haven't deployed it yet, but it sounds straightforward.

Because it's a service, maintenance is done by the vendor and we don't really need to do anything.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We're doing a trial evaluation. It's about 13K to set up and 9K for the license for three months. I think it's about 20K a year, but we haven't firmed up on pricing yet because the price depends on how long we commit to the solution.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We also evaluated ORBIS, Signavio, GB Tech, ARIS.

We chose iServer partly because of the suitability of the product. ORBIS, for example, doesn't do hierarchical structures and also doesn't cater for policy integration into the solution. Some of the other ones were because of price and complexity. ARIS was just way over the top for the use case that we had. GB Tech and Signavio were very close, but I just felt that iServer was better this time.
