What is our primary use case?
My company leverages the tool's functionalities for document and file storage. The tool also provides leverage to our company to push documents from outside into our networks or into video applications that can easily consume them, which helps our organization create a good interface for our customers. In general, the tool is useful to push data and information across the organization.
What needs improvement?
If there is a bulk move from the existing archival solutions like OpenText, integration capabilities in Amazon S3 Glacier would be useful. Seamless integration capabilities can help users easily switch from one tool to another. I am unsure if the product provides good integration capabilities. From an improvement perspective, I want the tool to provide easier integration features.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have experience with Amazon S3 Glacier.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It is a scalable solution.
Amazon S3 Glacier is used by my company's 2,500 applications, which have around a million users. Cargill itself is a company worth 1,500,000 USD. My company also has many internal employees who use the product.
There are around 2,500 applications for the product. As time passes by and the business grows, our company will have to have more solutions in place. There will be more users when our company decides to build more applications using Amazon S3 Glacier. In general, the use of the product will increase.
How are customer service and support?
I contacted the technical support team to help me with Amazon S3's database area. Amazon's technical support team is very good because they could help our company deal with the issue in the product, and we are also able to figure out why and what had happened in the tool.
The support was fast, knowledgeable, and customer-friendly.
How was the initial setup?
The product's initial setup phase was straightforward.
The product's deployment phase is taken care of on another platform by another team, who does it for us.
The solution is deployed on the cloud.
The number of staff members required for the deployment and maintenance of the application varies from application to application since some of them are small while others are big. On the use cases and size of applications, different engineers are deployed to help leverage the services of the product.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The price point at which the product is available is pretty good.
What other advice do I have?
My company does not use the product for data archiving since we have other solutions for it.
The low-cost storage solution impacted our budget for data backup, but I can't comment much since our organization is not yet leveraging functionalities. I know that there will be a huge impact on our budget for the solution if we start leveraging the tool for archival and backup.
The features I found most beneficial for secure data stored in the tool range from security availability to the ease of use it provides. I think pretty much everything has been valuable when it comes to the tool, especially if you are able to leverage its features.
The recovery options provided by the product are not used since my company does not use the tool for backup.
The product's scalability has impacted our company's ability to manage large datasets since I see that we are able to scale up, considering the data that increases every single day in our organization. In terms of performance, my company was able to scale up Amazon S3 Glacier's use. I don't think my company is looking out for more scalability features than what is offered by Amazon S3 Glacier.
I recommend the product to others who plan to use it, considering that it is easy to use. The positive factors of the product will fall into place once you start using it. Users can also figure out how the product stands out compared to the other services in the market.
The integration of Amazon S3 Glacier into our company's existing workflows improved data management processes in a pretty seamless manner. If you look at some other third-party tools, you know that no product is purely a cloud solution, and there are a lot of hybrid solutions. Many businesses use third-party middleware or software, like Boomi platform, which has come into play by providing integration between cloud and on-premises solutions.
The value derived by my company from the use of Amazon S3 Glacier is related to how we are able to seamlessly provide an interface for our company's customers to push data, documents, and other stuff, and it helps my company gather information that is required in a very easy manner. There are very few solutions that help our company deal with the aforementioned procedure. The time to market is also pretty small, but the tool has been really helpful in such areas.
I rate the tool a ten out of ten.
