Vormetric Application Crypto Suite Reviews

Our company implements this solution for our clients. The use case differs depending on the organization. 

Transfer encryption is a great feature of Crypto Suite. The solution is very user-friendly and enables us to provide the security of a database file folder layer. It's easy to encrypt and manage whatever files, logs, or transition data come into the folder or onto a directory, and we can give access to whoever needs to see sensitive data. Many companies, small and large, are using this product because it's so user-friendly.

We're getting to the end of support for Vormetric and on the implementation side it's already going through CipherTrust. This solution could be more agent-led with options for simplifying implementation. I'd also like to see some automation in the product. Documentation could also be improved when it comes to key management in Oracle.

The solution is scalable and works in a large environment but it's important to be aware of latency issues. 

Customer support is reasonable on the whole but it could be improved.

This is a security solution so the initial setup is somewhat complex and can take a couple of hours. For one physical box, deployment can take around two hours. Implementation throughout an entire organization might take one week. If it's a huge project, then deployment requires input from five or six different people. There might be two on L1, two or three on L2, and one on L3.

The solution is affordable, including for smaller companies. The cost is approximately $3,000 per license, which is quite reasonable. It's a one-off unlimited license. 

DSM will reach the end of support in 2024, and it'll move to CipherTrust Manager and be their main product. This is one of the good products in the security market and I recommend it.
