Veritas Enterprise Vault Reviews

My main use cases for Veritas Enterprise Vault are for backup of databases and servers. We use it basically for backup of everything in the environment—different types of databases, flat file servers, Exchange servers, and various workloads within our network. We also use it for recovery and archiving to tape, and the Enterprise NetBackup has a feature that helps archive backups beyond the retention policy. It is agnostic because it can work with other OEM devices.

Veritas Enterprise Vault has its advantages, and it does the work it's supposed to do effectively. In terms of the process, when you follow the process in securing the various keys, it performs very well.

I am using Veritas Enterprise Vault. The company has been using Veritas Enterprise Vault for many years, more than five, maybe even 10, and they have been very happy with it. Until recently, when these parts were acquired by a different company, the cost simply went too high.

In our organization, we have approximately several thousand users.

This is the company's policy; we are actually using Veritas Enterprise Vault for archives, so we are not going to implement any kind of Cloud solution for that purpose for at least two or three years.

It is a very nice product; the problem is that licensing costs in the last two years are just growing higher and higher. Two years ago, compared to today, the costs rose almost four times, and that is why we are not happy with it.

What I have heard from admins working on that environment is that they are very satisfied with Veritas Enterprise Vault, and they are also satisfied with what CommVault solution.

Based on the words I have heard from those people, I would say that performance and UX and those kinds of things are at least nine out of 10. When we are talking about the pricing, then the marks go below the ground. It is two or three or four out of 10.

Veritas Enterprise Vault is used in our organization for email archiving and compliance. 

The data retrieval process was seamless with Veritas Enterprise Vault, as no physical OST setup was required. The product acts as a stub and doesn't let the user be concerned about the data stored in an archive by maintaining transparency at each level.

It's an archiving solution, and it helps us to offload the storage out of Exchange.

We use integrations with Veritas Enterprise Vault to Exchange and Outlook.

We use advanced indexing and search functionalities heavily.

For compliance, audits, and legal requirements, it's helpful for the recovery purposes of corrupted files.

Around 50% of my clients use Veritas Enterprise Vault. A few clients use the solution for archiving, and the remaining clients use it for journaling. Customers who want to keep the data for their purposes use the tool for journaling.

Compared to other third-party products, the solution's most valuable features are its cost and security.

The most valuable feature of Veritas Enterprise Vault is the on-premise recall from your email into Outlook. The solution works pretty easily with Microsoft Office 365 and current Microsoft Office offerings.

Veritas Enterprise Vault is an archive solution for email and files. It provides indexes for searching the archives and also provides integration to Outlook as a plugin. Initially, the solution was to make Exchange smaller to speed up the backup. This was not the case when Office 365 was deployed with the archive mailbox. It has the possibility to archive and protect emails from changes. So, now it's something like legal and ransomware protection.

There were some issues with the product's scalability. We have different problems because the solution's setup is not as straightforward as it used to be. We are now limited by the support of Veritas, which communicates with us during the setup. The quality of support by Veritas has declined in the last year.

The platform's price could be affordable for small businesses.
