What is our primary use case?
My main use case for ONLYOFFICE Docs Enterprise is to have a platform where people can collaborate on their documentation and something that we can secure for our own organization.
A specific example of how my team collaborates using ONLYOFFICE Docs Enterprise involves documentation that we need to work on together. Our process team works with all business and functional units and then shares a lot of documentation which multiple stakeholders need to access and work on. Applications and documentations can be securely sent to each other, and browser-based editing is enabled. People can work on their mobile phones, their tablets, or other devices. The best aspect is that we get to keep control of the data.
Many team members also use the desktop application, which mimics what Microsoft Office provides.
How has it helped my organization?
ONLYOFFICE Docs Enterprise has impacted my organization positively in several ways. While I don't have specific numbers or metrics beyond the cost, the best outcome is that we are now very secure about our data, and we do not have any exposure of our internal data.
The cost-effectiveness has helped my organization significantly because ONLYOFFICE Docs Enterprise comes with many different payment plans and pricing options. When we host it on our own cloud through self-hosting, it is quite affordable for us. Additional features can be added as needed, such as extra backups for approximately $10 and more. This approach works very effectively for our organization.
What is most valuable?
The most important feature for me is that we get to keep control of the data on our end. We can either use ONLYOFFICE Docs Enterprise's server or our own cloud where we can deploy things. This approach is quite cost-efficient and also scalable. Additionally, the ability to work from anywhere means people can collaborate from any location and on any kind of device through online documentation.
Among the features of data control, cost efficiency, scalability, and device flexibility, the most important feature for my team was having security over the data that we have. We have a lot of proprietary processes and financial data and information on our documentations, as well as many things we need to share with the board and our shareholders. Keeping control of the data and being able to collaborate and share with other people has been the most important feature that makes ONLYOFFICE Docs Enterprise worth it.
ONLYOFFICE Docs Enterprise also comes with many integrations, which we have not really tried extensively, but we know that there are integrations for different types of languages and other options. This is something we are looking forward to exploring in the future.
What needs improvement?
I think ONLYOFFICE Docs Enterprise should focus on what it does best rather than trying to have all the features of Microsoft Office. From my point of view, what ONLYOFFICE Docs Enterprise does best is securing the data and enabling collaboration between different teams in different locations. Continued focus on those features and building upon them would be valuable.
Additionally, offering a free tier with more generous limits would allow many more people to explore the product and truly understand that this is a very good tool.
