Smart locators and small learning curve streamline test automation, minimizing maintenance and boosting efficiency.
Testim has a specific feature called a smart locator. Anyone experienced in test automation knows this is one of the most complex parts of developing automated scripts. The Testim feature automatically finds the locators, which helps us build stable test scripts. Stable scripts are crucial for receiving faster and more reliable feedback. I have also seen reduced maintenance due to smart locators, as it automatically finds locators for us even with minor application changes.

The best feature of Worksoft Certify is the automatic report generation. Unlike traditional tools like Selenium or Java-based frameworks where reporting often requires custom coding, Certify handles this natively. We are currently utilizing the 14.5 version, which has modernized these capabilities, though we frequently manage backward compatibility for clients still running on the 12.x version series.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The ease of learning and the small learning curve allowed us to scale the test scripts and the test suite quickly."
"The Testim technical support is very responsive and worked with a specific team member on the First Databank side to answer hard technical questions and took enhancement requests as needed."
"We primarily use the solution for business E2E testing, as it is fast and reliable, easy to maintain, and allows for the involvement of QA as well as Dev and BA."
"It is a highly stable solution."
"The feature I like most about Testim is the record and playback capability, which does not require writing a lot of code."
"The stability has been great; we can add stable tests very easily and improve our automation coverage, which allows us to deploy a new version into production every few days with minimum manual labor."
"I have seen reduced maintenance due to smart locators, as it automatically finds locators for us even with minor application changes."
"The automating smoke and regression tests have become easier and handier and manual efforts are saved."
"The tool is easy to use. It is a drag and drop Microsoft type of solution."
"Automation using Worksoft Certify has saved our testing times by 40% to 50%."
"It's module based and it's giving functionality."
"I can confirm that Worksoft Certify brings measurable benefits in terms of cost saving, time saving, resource saving, and efficiency improvements in my projects."
"It is a lot easier to maintain test scripts on Worksoft Certify than on other testing tools that we have had in the past."
"We're getting good value from continuous testing management, and the fact that it's also codeless is valuable."
"The most valuable feature is having a no-code solution for automation, so our QA team and some of our business users can work on automation. Then, they don't have to be developers."
"The main benefit that Worksoft Certify provides for me as an end user is scriptless automation, which is very important because there is no coding involved in it."

Cons

"Faster scripting would be beneficial, as test creation is faster now."
"I get a little bit confused while creating new branches."
"Testim sometimes fails due to stability issues. It doesn't always work consistently, especially after running multiple tests."
"The API testing integration is a bit lacking and can be improved."
"There is currently no room for improvement that I can identify as of now."
"There were some issues in the product's initial setup phase in regard to the area of documentation since it wasn't very easy to understand everything mentioned in it."
"There are common properties between multiple elements that we should be able to edit - such as 'when this step fails,' 'when to run this step,' and 'override timeout'. I should be able to update these properties if I select multiple elements."
"The accessibility reporting features could be more robust to be reported at the script level and allow users to map down to the step level."
"The stability needs help. This is main thing that needs help, and if it's not the stability, then it's Worksoft's ability to respond to issues."
"In version 14.5, there are still many bugs; for example, in CTM, we can see many timeout issues, and additionally, Worksoft Certify sometimes closes windows automatically."
"3 out of 10 -- You submit an email, so there's not really a hotline that you can call to talk to somebody on the other end."
"Sometimes Worksoft Certify works very slowly compared to other testing tools, which is something I want to mention."
"Another negative of this tool is that its license is costly. It is a bit more expensive than other tools."
"Right now, Capture 2.0 doesn't really work for our Business Analysts."
"A year ago, it used to fail miserably."
"When it is unstable, there will be times when a test that we are running in Certify will just stop, and it will say, "Aborted." There will be errors. There will be no explanation as to why it happens. It has now happened maybe one out of 20 times. When it happens, I just tell our QA team to stop Certify and restart it, hoping we don't see it again."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is not expensive."
"The tool offers a fixed pricing model for our company."
"I rate the product’s pricing an eight out of ten compared to other tools."
"We have seen that the initial Worksoft implementation has helped our customers reduce their testing cycle time by 50 percent. With further continuous improvement, we have seen cycle time reduced up to 75 percent. That is the level of productivity achieved using Worksoft Certify."
"Saving money and better quality, these are the benefits of Certify."
"Our ROI is primarily a reduction in testing time. The testing, when we were doing it manually, was 30 to 40 percent of the project's cost."
"Purchasing and licensing are okay. Go for the perpetual licenses. In that way, you own a license, then you can purchase maintenance and support on top of that, so you don't have to pay every year for it. Even if you don't want it a contract with Worksoft Certify in the future, you will have your own license of it. Then, if your usage is not that much, you can have one or two perpetual licenses. However, if you want to run your processes, you will need more licenses, e.g., using the run-only licenses. They are really cheap compared to the full licensing."
"The typical range that we see is between 50 to 90 percent improvement in speed capabilities. Another aspect comes with the depth that they're able to test. It increases their capabilities overall to test at a broader level."
"We would purchase more licenses right now if they were cheaper. Pricing is a little bit of a hindrance."
"We have an annual license for this solution. The product is very expensive."
"We have seen ROI by being able to free up and give time back to the business for other value-added work."
