Modern API design has transformed documentation workflows and supports interactive testing
Scalr helps with API testing and client functionality, which includes a built-in Try It tool similar to Postman, allowing developers to test endpoints, manage environment variables, and see request history. The faster response is due to the CI/CD workflow integrating with GitHub Actions and another tool to automatically update and version documentation as the codebase evolves. Other features include data formatting, where I can convert strings to uppercase, trim white spaces, or concatenate first and last names into a full name field. In scientific contexts, a scalar is a physical quantity described only by magnitude with no direction. In environmental aspects, monitoring and measuring temperature, pressure, or humidity, resource tracking, and calculating mass, volume, density, or time duration reflect the best impact on my organization. One specific outcome I have noticed is scholarly publishing. Scalr is also an open-source platform for born-digital, media-rich publishing, allowing scholars to create interactive online books that integrate high-resolution media with sophisticated archival structures.

Automation has streamlined complex financial workflows but still needs more intuitive orchestration
Something to improve in VMware Aria Automation would be related to VCF 9, as I do not know what it is trying to bring because they exposed it as the solution of everything. So VCF 9 will bring VCF Automation and VCF Operations, the new product line of VMware. I have not seen what this brings or what else it includes. Maybe in the area of vRealize Orchestrator, this would be beneficial because VRO can do everything. Perhaps a more user-friendly way to use that tool would be helpful because the possibilities there are endless. I am looking for more user-friendly navigation in VMware Aria Automation.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I was able to deal with requests without needing every server on; I could turn them off."
"After all the years of helping enterprises implement API strategies at SmartBear, I can confidently say Scalr is what the industry has been waiting for."
"If you're looking to deploy virtual machines through a self-service portal, this product works well."
"We have definitely seen an ROI because automation is directly related to productivity."
"The setup was complex in many ways. The first reason is that we have many teams who work on it so it gets complicated gathering all of the people. The second reason is that it can be complicated to install it quickly, within a reasonable amount of time."
"It is possible to completely automatize the creation and removal of a virtual machine."
"We provided the ability to request virtual machines to our end users. Before, this was a very manual process, which took engineers to do. Now, it's an automated process."
"The automation functionality has been most valuable, as with a click of a button we are able to automate provisioning, the build of new hardware, and apply patches, which are all extremely important and differentiated tasks that can be automated in SaltStack."
"Having an enterprise service catalog and being able to automate various parts of our infrastructure are among the most important components."
"The benefit to our organization is time to market; it has streamlined the process so that they can deploy systems, test the systems, and get the product to market faster."

Cons

"We did use AWS autoscaling but Rackspace left something to be desired."
"Regarding licensing, if I buy a licensing key, it is beneficial, but if I have a lesser standing, it is not as good."
"We have seen some issues with upgrades or installations. This means we have to raise a call every time with VMware."
"Upgrade has been a issue, we always have to call in and open up the ticket for assistance."
"I know you can spin up virtual desktops in vRA, but they're not thin-provisioned. I don't know if that's because the other product, Horizon View, is there, but it would be nice to see more integration."
"They can improve on the dashboard representations and the options for non-technical people."
"With distributed, installation is a pain. I have always gotten into errors when employing a distributed environment, which provides High Availability."
"The costing and pricing models of their product."
"I want to see HTML 5. I want to get rid of JavaScript. First off, I know nothing about JavaScript. That doesn't mean I'm going to know anything better about HTML 5, but I do know that we have a lot of issues with Java crashing when we're using vCenter."
"It was a complex setup. We had to use the consultant from VMware to make the solution work well."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The pricing for this solution is roughly 20% lower than the competitive products in the market."
"It made the provisioning of the virtual machines easier and faster. We can react more quickly to customers' demands."
"There is confusion between licensing levels. There are three different licensed versions of vRealize Automation, and there are different things which can happen in each of them."
"We do plan to see ROI with any new implementation of new technologies being implemented within our environment."
"I would rate it high because, compared to other solutions, VMware’s pricing is quite expensive. VMware products have become significantly more costly in recent years, leading to higher costs."
"The tool is expensive since it is an enterprise product."
"The solution is pretty expensive but provides good workload management."
"SaltStack is an open-source product."
