Running secure internal banking applications has been reliable and supports fast deployments
I am still working with Oracle products. I am still using Enterprise Manager 14c. I am using Oracle Database, Oracle ExaCC, Oracle EBS, Oracle WebLogic, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and Oracle Linux. I can answer questions about my experience with WebLogic Suite. I use it in my company. I have not used WebLogic's diagnostic tools. I do not utilize its lifecycle management features. I do not have much experience with WebLogic Java EE support, as I just deploy the application and the other team utilizes this server. I am not directly involved in WebLogic. I have been using Oracle Linux myself. The deployment is local, on-premises. I have been working with Enterprise Manager as well. All the components of Oracle I am using are on-premises. I use Oracle 19c database, Oracle ExaCC, Exadata on Cloud at Customer. I have been using Oracle Linux, Enterprise Manager, and databases as well. I have been working with Oracle Database for about 20 years. My experience has been 100% positive with Oracle Database. I have utilized its Real Application Clusters along with Data Guard. I do not use Oracle's Advanced Analytics and machine learning features right now. I have given this review an overall rating of 9 out of 10.

Manages databases in serverless environments and easy to get started with
The main thing I didn't like about PlanetScale was that we couldn't run analytical queries on it. They bill based on the number of rows read, so even a simple count query could easily use up our allocated resources. Apart from that, I actually loved it. It's based on MySQL, so it doesn't have foreign key constraints or cascades. We have to delete manually or use an ORM. As it's based on MySQL, we can use log posters for complex queries, but it only supports MySQL. I feel like Postgres is more useful for custom or complex queries.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The scalability is very good, and it is stable."
"It's very good at handling jobs that have huge datasets."
"I do appreciate having that power to do it, even though 90% of the time I don't use those features, it's nice to have them should I need them."
"As compared to SQL Server, Oracle Database performs better when you have a huge amount of data. We didn't face any problems when we had a huge amount of data. There were also no issues with importing/exporting and migrating the data."
"The product's installation phase was straightforward."
"The solution is reliable and quite stable; there are no bugs or glitches, it doesn't crash or freeze, and the performance is great."
"Oracle Database is a stable solution."
"We currently have 18 people in our organization using this product and I find it to be a stable product."
"I like the solution's developer experience. When you deploy changes to the database in the portal, you can use different deployment strategies and see how things work. You can put changes into different branches, like deployment and staging. This is built into the product, allowing you to navigate changes through different branches."
"The solution is beginner-friendly. Like any new platform, it can be a bit confusing at first. But after spending about an hour with it, you can get a clear idea of what everything is for. It's not very confusing; I think they've improved it recently."
"The database is accessible 24/7, ensuring my project runs smoothly without interruptions."
"I did not face any downtime when using the product."
"I recommend using PlanetScale as it provides ease of access and control over database changes using commands from the local terminal."
"One feature I appreciate about PlanetScale is its ability to handle migrations and commands without the need to run them manually in the database."
"The branching feature is also good for developer experience."

Cons

"For those parts, to be honest, Oracle Database requires more effort than the other databases."
"I would like to see improvements with caching."
"The integration can be made much easier for the Oracle tools, for example, Oracle Database or OPI."
"Once you start with Oracle you become locked into it."
"The initial setup can be simplified."
"Its administration side is very difficult. To install Oracle Database, you need to have some prior knowledge."
"In general, the support is not good since most of the time the person whom you are given to is not so professional."
"Digital support of the product could be improved."
"The main thing I didn't like about PlanetScale was that we couldn't run analytical queries on it."
"I am not sure, but I think recently, the tool removed the free version."
"When I tried to integrate the solution with Firebase for authentication, I faced some interruptions. Also, when using it with Next.js and NextAuth.js for Google and social logins, I had some troubles."
"I used PlanetScale for hobby projects, so my perspective differs from someone using it commercially. Unfortunately, they've removed the free tier in recent months and pivoted to a business-to-business model. This is sad for hobby developers like me because it's a great product, but I understand they have costs to cover."
"I would like PlanetScale to have a feature where the database can be accessed in the cloud with a link, allowing for a more user-friendly interface compared to the terminal."
"We encountered some initial issues during the product deployment, which required me to search for solutions on forums."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Oracle is an expensive product."
"It has an annual subscription. It is an Oracle solution, so it is a bit expensive, but that's fine."
"The tool's price is high. The price is very high in the Asia-Pacific region. The European and US regions don't find the tool's prices high."
"The price of the solution could be reduced."
"It's not cheap, but sometimes, you get what you pay for."
"There is a license required to use Oracle Database."
"The licensing cost is not based on a yearly subscription but rather on the number of devices used annually."
"It was purchased by our client. It might have been a one-time payment. It doesn't seem to be very expensive."
"Last time, when I wanted to use the tool in a project, I could see it was only paid, so I didn't use the service."
"I am currently using the product's free version, which has been sufficient for my portfolio project."
"The solution is expensive for beginners. That's why I wasn't motivated to use it more. But they were already providing many features for free for beginners, which was great."
