Secure with a quick setup and helpful support
Based on the latest version, there were multiple changes done. It had multiple fixes. However, it's based on the customer's requirements. They have modified and created, and released the changes according to those needs. The UI could be better. The page loading is very slow. The customer wants faster loading. Before releases, it would be nice to be able to upgrade to the new release and check it out in order to see the new functionality and what they have changed.

Real-time responses and reporting streamline vulnerability management
Qualys VMDR provides a real-time response and reporting feature, which is excellent. It allows us to see real-time graphs and reports for every asset, server, and more, which is very user-friendly. Our clients have given good feedback, and they are satisfied with the tool. We use it daily to fix vulnerabilities by connecting with infrastructure to remediate. The feedback from the client side is very good.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It can discover various pieces from hardware, software, custom applications, and tie them together to create a map using ASM."
"It scales easily with future expansion."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the discovery."
"The product is easy to set up."
"The auto-discovery feature is great."
"It can discover almost everything and creates relationship among discovered CIs, along with creating topology modeling."
"Precision, trustworthiness, reconciliation, and user-friendly presentation are the key features I value most."
"The most valuable feature is the QID part, especially of CentralList, which makes it easy to assess new critical vulnerabilities."
"Qualys VM's best features are vulnerability management and customizable scoring."
"The prioritization of vulnerabilities has improved our remediation efforts by around thirty to thirty-five percent."
"The best features of Qualys VMDR are its patch management capabilities and the ability to mitigate vulnerabilities automatically."
"The most valuable features are vulnerability scanning, policy compliance scanning, and tablet for web application scanning."
"Authenticated scans provide different options, including those using or not using the FactSet and adding option profiles."
"It's stable and quite reliable."
"The integrations for this solution are very good. I use a different product for virtual patching of vulnerabilities and Qualys integrates well with that product."

Cons

"The implementation could be simplified."
"Improve the GUI and documentation."
"When we work in an environment, the production environment continuously changes and at that time we should have knowledge about the new server (node). However, the auto-discovery part should automatically discover the new CI (node/servers) in an environment and inform the IT person."
"The page loading is very slow."
"Making it simpler to set up and understand would be a big improvement."
"The user interface (UI) is quite complicated."
"Qualys VM's scanner doesn't pick up every vulnerability, so we have to use multiple scanners to cover that gap."
"This solution could be improved by extending the agent capabilities to different operating systems including Mac and Linux. We would also like the capability to easily check for vulnerability in assets in the IOTs."
"Some of the older features could be polished instead of focusing on releasing new features."
"The price could be better. Asset view is still a legacy feature. I'm not able to extract the information about the asset with complete details. It would be better if they fixed that in the next release. I know Qualys is already working on it, so I'm hopeful it will be available in the next five or six months. That would be something that's changed where I seek improvement."
"They're still evolving their platform in terms of reporting capabilities."
"The reporting section needs improvement as running reports can take several hours."
"Qualys Container Security can improve the interface. It could be easier to navigate and be enriched."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Compared with other solutions, I would say that it's more expensive especially since we have an on-premise version and an older implementation."
"It is competitive."
"I used to work there, so I never paid for the product. As an employee, we get a lifetime license for personal use, and that's what I'm using. It is a comprehensive platform, so there is a lot more to it. There could be other solutions that are probably a little bit cheaper, but it depends on what people need. Different people have different needs. It offers many things on the same platform. If you add all the things up, it should be cheaper, but I have not done any analysis specifically."
"Qualys VM is better suited for medium to large companies because the price can be too much for smaller customers."
"Qualys VM is quite expensive. It's a subscription-based license, and it's yearly. Right now, it's open for me, and I don't have any limitations or caps on the licenses. They are seeing if the product is viable for 4500 users. I can add as much as I want, and at the end of the subscription, they'll let me know how many licenses were actually used and bill me accordingly. On a scale from one to five, I would give their pricing a three. It's still expensive."
"It is a high cost product. Compared to the other solutions, it is around 15 to 20% higher in cost."
"Qualys is cheaper and more affordable than other solutions."
"The price is very reasonable."
"The product is more expensive than that of any other vendor."
"There are no additional fees in addition to the standard licensing fees."
