Th password vault feature has proven to be most effective for managing privileged access
One Identity Safeguard now prevents unauthorized access to servers by eliminating privileged passwords and requiring all connections to go through a PAM-authorized process. This means no one, including hackers, can access servers without explicit approval, significantly enhancing overall security. One Identity Safeguard is easy to use with a good partner to support you, and it can be up and running within a few days. We have successfully integrated One Identity Safeguard with cloud targets, and the process was straightforward. One Identity Safeguard has improved our incident response time by 300 percent.

Good value, easy to use, and easy to deploy
In terms of what can be improved, that is a question I think the end users can tell you better. I'm not the end-user for this system. However, I can say that it needs to be more scalable. I think they already have a good value proposition in terms of being a hybrid model, and the reporting is okay, as well. It could have better integration with other SIEMs, but this integration has to come from the SIEM side, not ObserveIT.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We don't need to use VPN for remote access."
"Safeguard has the ability to record and retrieve in the full-video format."
"It provides secure and centralized access to both on-prem and cloud servers, which we did not have before. Previously, there were myriad ways to access our servers, so this centralizing feature is beneficial."
"We have limited the possibilities for malicious actions and have made it safer for our users when they are using privileged accounts."
"One of the most important aspects is that it is very easy to use and install. It is also agentless, so all of the operations happen more smoothly than any other product."
"It is generally easy-to-use and install."
"All sessions are audited and they are indexed/searchable through the GUI."
"One Identity Safeguard is stable and provides great performance."
"ObserveIT is small, easy to use, easy to deploy, and is not complicated, so it's more generally suited for only SMBs. It's a good value with a cheaper price."

Cons

"There is room for improvement in the launch module. They built in a launch button but they don't have effective instructions for configuring it to allow it to launch an RDP session. They're working on that, but the button is in the live product. If they were going to install something that wasn't useful, they should have just disabled it and not rolled it out with the product."
"One Identity Safeguard can improve by having more integration with multiple devices."
"Something for One Identity to look at is having integration guidelines for how to logically group accounts."
"Our experience with technical support has been disappointing. We require more prompt and faster response times. We require answers to our questions right away but we haven't received that level of support."
"Monitoring of the platform should be easier and more functional so that you can have a clear picture of the running service."
"From a management point of view, it would be beneficial if One Identity Safeguard Privilege Password and One Identity Safeguard Privilege Session had a more similar interface."
"The deployment affects our privileged users because it takes a long time for them to request privileges, which impacts the SLA."
"There is a lack of documentation and many problems with the plugins."
"ObserveIT is not scalable and it's not for the medium to large corporations. It's for the smaller environments. For the larger corporations, we have other scalable solutions."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The full license is expensive but if you plan to use it in a big organization then it is the best option because it is more flexible."
"Its subscription cost is too much, and sometimes, it is very difficult to pitch the solution to the management for cost approval. If the cost is reduced a little bit, it would be easier. If its cost was less, many other organizations that currently cannot afford it would be able to use this technology. I'm sure many organizations around the globe are having issues with identity management, and it is a very difficult task for IT to manage privileged accounts."
"The pricing is about $80,000 per 100 servers. There are few elective costs."
"It is more expensive than Secret Server but way less expensive than CyberArk. As a customer, I would like the pricing to be lower, but it has a good price point."
"They have comparable pricing. All identity products are essentially priced in a similar way. It's a per-user base."
"We bought their other products, so it was not that expensive. It is one of those where the more you buy, the cheaper it is."
"As compared to other products, it is reasonable, but the training sessions are too expensive."
"Our licensing costs are on a yearly basis."
