Has significantly improved document-driven workflows and reduced processing time across finance and HR functions
Automation Anywhere has evolved significantly and upgraded itself to provide agentic AI and AI-based automation solutions for document automation. The product has matured considerably over time. We can create workflows that can call an API. We can include prompts in particular workflows for ChatGPT-related functions, connecting to an LLM and RAG to perform tasks. For document automation, modern features are available to train documents, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability over time. The system is very easy to use. I recently completed a course in document automation, typically designed for people involved in coding and technical aspects. Though I understand coding comprehensively, I don't do actual coding. The course was very accessible. Currently, extensive coding isn't necessary due to the hybrid model incorporating GenAI aspects, low-code, no-code capabilities, APIs, and numerous pre-built objects in Automation Anywhere. The features include GenAI-driven prompting methods and workflow creation capabilities. In these workflows, we can create decision boxes and call APIs without coding. We simply pull objects, drop them, connect them, and add minimal coding when needed. The most crucial aspect isn't coding but rather sizing the automation and fleshing out the details. Automation Co-pilot takes notes and performs automated analysis. It can extract details from videos, summarize conversations, and provide detailed information. During calls, it identifies instructions and performs tasks such as preparing reports and reconciliation. Automation Anywhere can also connect with Microsoft Co-pilot. Through Co-pilot, real-time operations can be executed, allowing direct interaction between vendors and automation through this component.

Effective document automation with strong integration capabilities and very good support
Our primary use case for Nintex RPA involves getting documents from emails, reading those documents, and transferring them from the IRD to finance. We are also exploring the LP and Intech features for more advanced use cases Nintex RPA helps our government and public sector customers with…

Automation has reduced manual finance work and has increased accuracy for high volume tasks
I am not sure if there is any disadvantage to UiPath Automation Cloud; I cannot say anything definitive. Sometimes when we upgrade our Studio version, there would be some issues when we use a new version, but I would not say there is a significant negative aspect. The latest issues with the new version involve glitches or latency that happen when we upgrade, and we face some issues that take time to fix. We have to open a new ticket and proceed through that process. As I heard, UiPath Automation Cloud is a little more expensive than other tools. I just heard this from other developer friends, but I have never used any other tools myself.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It has definitely helped automating a lot of processes, but it is very difficult to build resilient bots. It is very difficult to find skilled developers in the market, who actually build resilient bots with appropriate error handling. Maintaining the bots is another challenge as the applications keep changing."
"Automation Anywhere is very simple to use; the features are very simple, the application is light, and overall I love it."
"We found that RPA with additional AI capabilities, such as machine learning and Computer Vision, can enable the organization to augment existing business operations by creating efficiencies and improving the accuracy of data to be processed, without changing too much of the existing system."
"They have a credential vault, which is 256-bit encrypted. That is the highest security that can be provided when it comes to credential maintenance. With a credential vault, other than the user who is entering the password, no one else knows what the password is."
"I love the Bot Store. I encourage a lot of my staff to use it, because it changes the game and the time that it takes to build automation. It has a lot of reusable things that you can use off the bat."
"We were working on a system called AS 400. Automation Anywhere performed well on that old system. It handled complicated processes. I had to review different menus and screens and give resources, storage, and databases. That's complicated."
"The immediate impact is administrative tasks which were traditionally done manually are now being done by robots. This reduces the workload for people."
"The features I most appreciate are the built-in version control system, historical log, audit trail features, and the breadth of RPA action commands included out of the box."
"We have absolutely seen return on investment; we felt that we had to get to between 40 and 80 hours of weekly savings to get our ROI and we're already almost there, and that's good news overall."
"Kryon will allow you to automate processes fast and easy and you do not need to be a developer to automate processes."
"We use PowerBuilder as our application building codex. Kryon adds flexibility when we have the functionality of SQL, where we can take sets of data out of the back-end and run complex computations or do a bunch of data validations inside the wizard. It can save us sometimes dozens of steps, then if we were to try and do those same reviews using the user interface completely. The balance that we get from using Kryon RPA, alongside being able to screen scrape and frequent screen, gives us an advantage that we haven't had previously with any of our other attempts at robotic process automation."
"Nintex RPA doesn't require much coding, and you can drag and drop the activities."
"Once I decide a process is suitable as a Kryon solution, the cycle of automation is quite quick. I learn about the manual process and I'm one of the two guys who program the Kryon environment. It's relatively simple. There are many details, but once you understand the concept it is quite easy."
"The advanced Excel functionalities are really convenient because we work a lot with spreadsheets. It’s also easy to use the HTML selectors. It’s just a click and it picks it up. There’s not a lot of no hard-coding with it."
"In the last month, we achieved 11,000 activities done by robot, before Kryon we did 500 each month."
"Attended automation has diverted 34 percent of training calls to our tech support centers."
"When you use human resources, there is some chance people can make mistakes, but UiPath Automation Cloud robots cannot, as they are very fast and do their job correctly and efficiently."
"In general, the cloud migration has helped greatly, and overall UiPath Automation Cloud is a really good tool for enterprise-level automation."
"Functionality wise, I do not have any complaint about UiPath Automation Cloud because for the last seven years, UiPath has been my bread and butter."

Cons

"The Automation Anywhere community is less active than the UiPath community, which is a downside. When I ask questions in the Automation Anywhere community, responses take a longer time."
"There's potential for Automation Anywhere to integrate conversational types of tools and AI into their tool set, which would be really valuable."
"The AI Sense functionality is what I believe can be improved since when I tried to use it for automating a use case involving a Citrix Virtual Machine, it was unable to capture objects consistently."
"I'd like to see the OCR feature be perfected. Today we get an accuracy ratio from OCR of around 40 percent to 50 percent only."
"We have faced some downtime and crashes with the system, but with the cooperation of the Automation Anywhere team, we have been able to contain that."
"For our legacy systems, we are finding it very difficult to use the automation."
"With our current version, we are experiencing issues with the access of the Control Room. Therefore, at the moment, we cannot really scale."
"The areas for room for improvement are always going to be around experience, making it even easier to get engaged, and get started. Because lowering that threshold to get started is what enables an additional set of problems to be solved."
"I would like to see a better OCR solution. That's the main thing: identifying unstructured data, like all paper documents and data from pictures."
"We have found some difficulties regarding the integration with legacy systems where the screen has elements in the Hebrew language. The connection to Hebrew, right-to-left systems, is more challenging."
"We would like to see having a little more specific documentation, or some of the examples be easier to find."
"Often, it's difficult to loop through a large data set unless the bot has access to the Excel file with specific settings and shortcodes."
"The process discovery tool of Kryon RPA could be improved because of its limitations."
"We would like to see having a little more specific documentation, or some of the examples be easier to find. One of the big things that we get directed to now is the Kryon Community page, but a lot of that wasn't in existence or publicized when we started doing our training and education. Now, we're stumbling through using it. For the majority of the time, we have either had to try and interpret what the instructions meant or do a service desk ticket."
"The only unstable part is Studio where you build this stuff. In our version, the 5.25. It has a memory leak. If you leave it open for too long, eventually it just freezes. Saving your work, closing, and opening it just once a day is all it takes. However, this is a bug that I have noticed about the stability of the actual tool."
"Nintex RPA is not suitable for PDF automation."
"UiPath Automation Cloud needs to reduce the license cost. That is the first thing they need to concentrate on because many RPA tools are coming up in the market and some are much cheaper than UiPath Automation Cloud."
"Sometimes when we upgrade our Studio version, there would be some issues when we use a new version, but I would not say there is a significant negative aspect."
"The main concerns are cost involvement and a new feature called ScreenPlay. ScreenPlay works based on the prompt that we are giving, but it consumes more artificial intelligence units."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Automation Anywhere is costlier than the general competition. That is aligned with the share of the market it has."
"It is somewhere in the middle. The price and value of Automation Anywhere are better than UiPath. The pricing is good globally. It could be a little bit cheaper, but it is good."
"Because it reduced the time duration of our processes, our costs went down."
"Our annual licensing costs are about $500,000."
"It is not too expensive, but there are many tools available in the market that can provide the same functionality at a cheaper price."
"If you look at the capital expenditure, Automation Anywhere is number two to UiPath. But if you take a long-term view, on a scalable model of a large number of bots coming out, it slowly goes on to become the costliest tool. There is something they can do about that. The capital expenditure goes out right at the point of buying the tool. For Automation Anywhere, I would need to spend $20,000. UiPath can give me something for $6,000, while Blue Prism will come in at $300,000."
"Automation Anywhere's pricing falls within the mid-range, but the long-term benefits outweigh the initial investment."
"It costs up to $1,200 per license."
"We have a yearly license. It's about $5,000 per year."
"We are probably saving $6000 to $8000 a month in labor costs. It's not a ton, but we're right around $60,000 to $80,000 a year with our current deployment."
"They license per robot and we have 25 robots. You get so many robot licenses and can allocate those licenses to either attended, unintended, or Process Discovery bots. If you have 25 licenses, for example, you could have 20 automation bots and five process discovery. This allocation is flexible. There are also maintenance costs."
"For an unattended robot it's $6000 a month."
"Can't beat the price... There are different pricing levels for every bot or unattended bot. You can buy however many you want. You'll need an additional virtual machine for it to work on."
"We're paying in the neighborhood of about $66,000 a year. The cost is fairly similar to its competitors' costs. It might have been a little bit more reasonable than the others, and that cost was with Process Discovery in addition."
"We've more than broken even over on the license. Year to date, we are at $120,000 in savings."
"Kryon is slightly more expensive compared to UiPath."
