We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature is the performance parameters of the system.""The application performance monitoring feature is valuable.""It has made the life of the network operations staff more proactive in managing the resources of the infrastructure. It prevents disasters long before they can take place.""What I like about Nagios Core is that it helps me ensure everything is running smoothly by checking the status of hosts and services.""Nagios monitors our servers, so we know if anything goes wrong and can solve the problem before it happens.""Dashboard provides monitor of total assets.""Nagios Core is stable.""Key features include the GUI interface, its notification capabilities, and the real-time reporting."

"The most valuable features of OpsRamp include a single pane of glass, event correlation, personalized dashboards, and a single platform solution.""It greatly assists small and medium-sized businesses in using the ITSM, alerting, and monitoring features.""The most valuable feature of this solution in my experience, is that the available reporting is quite accurate.""The most valuable feature of OpsRamp is the creation of the dashboards of the infrastructure for the CPU memory and SQL servers. Additionally, URL monitoring through Selenium scripting and the availability dashboard is useful.""We find the products seamless integration with Zendesk to be extremely valuable to our business.""Most features work fine.""Predictive analysis is a valued feature.""The feature that we have found most useful are the dashboards, which can be built in minutes using this solution, allowing multiple products, thresholds, or any given required metric to be seen in a single area."

Cons
"It is a bit slow due to latency.""Nagios Core could improve by adding a user interface. If you want the user interface you have to use Nagios XI.""The core version is no match for the XI version.""Nagios Core can improve the graphical interface, it would make things a little easier.""Cloud monitoring is an area for improvement because there aren't too many plugins available.""Nagios Core is limited in terms of distributed setups, and there is no central view for remote data centers.""It would be nice if the company offered a sales or contract manager that was dedicated to our company so that we would have some sort of link to Nagios, and if we had issues or questions, we'd be able to contact them directly.""The tool needs to improve the integrations."

More Nagios Core Cons →

"OpsRamp could improve the critical alerts. We have been receiving some false alerts when monitoring. For example, the alert shows the site is down, but when we try to do manual access to the URL, it's accessible.""What's lacking in OpsRamp is process automation, and if there is, I wish there could be more of it, other than just spikes, or it would be better if the alerts can be generated based on different matrices. That option is absent in OpsRamp at the moment, and it would be valuable if that could be provided in the solution, especially if there's any kind of security issue in the VM.""An area of improvement would be application monitoring.""We would like this solution to be developed into a full CMP tool, so that we are able to use a single product for all of our cloud management needs.""The function to search any particular device within this solution needs to be improved. Currently, the solution develops a lag when a search, or a comparison, is being carried out.""We have 55 AVDs, and patches might roll out to 32-35 initially, with the rest taking a month or so. OpsRamp can't detect them all directly. Since clients want patches applied as soon as possible, we manually patch those remaining devices.""I would like to see two things. The first is a self-service portal for the cloud, any cloud deployments, and the second is maturity validation towards ITSM, internalizing OpsRamp TSM. As a result, instead of integrating with more mature tools similar to ServiceNow, people will use OpsRamp.""Automation is currently quite complex and needs to be improved."
