Streamlined operations with gateway and authentication features
Azure API Management has helped streamline our operations by acting as a gateway for upstream and downstream applications. It provides authentication and authorization, ensuring that both verified and suspicious users are managed efficiently. The use of analytics within API Management is also valuable for tracking user behavior and ensuring security.

Provides robust security for financial transactions and protects the ERP database from direct exposure
My main feedback is about the account management. I feel they should connect with clients more frequently, beyond just selling the product. They should actively seek feedback and tailor the approach to client needs. It shouldn't always be about pushing additional products. My main suggestion is focused solely on the account management approach, specifically fostering closer and more proactive client relationships. So, the pricing could also be bit improvement.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The tool's most valuable feature is the integration of CI/CD with the API gateway."
"The UI management is very easy to use."
"The most valuable feature is its role as a linchpin in AI Hub architecture, enhancing data handling."
"It seems quite good so far. It handles our current workload well, and I'm optimistic it can scale effectively as our needs grow."
"Without a doubt, it has a very robust, strong marketplace where we can directly integrate with existing APIs and begin working on those."
"The ability to create a subscription model for APIs allows companies to monetize valuable data and share it securely."
"The most valuable feature of Microsoft Azure API Management is the developer portal because it's very quick and easy to get something published."
"The API management is great."
"The initial setup isn't overly difficult."
"It is very secure, easy to manage, and easy to configure. It is a web-based API. Moreover, we get direct support from Oracle guys."
"The security, the authentication, and the publishing qualities are great."
"The most valuable features for us are security and centralization."

Cons

"In the next release, Azure APIM should include deployment in various environments and CI/CD for deployment."
"There is a limitation of 32 kb of data in the APIs. Having the limitation increase would be a benefit."
"I would like to see more security features become available."
"Microsoft Azure API Management could improve the documentation. The documentation feels like marketing information and not sufficient technical information. Your easiest option is to purchase services from a Microsoft partner and this is their marketing."
"The licensing part of Microsoft is always higher than other platforms, like Amazon services and other cloud services."
"Latency is an area that needs improvement, especially for multi-tenant applications."
"The integration with other API gateways is where they might try to improve."
"The product's navigation feature needs enhancement."
"From an administration and developer point of view, the user interface and user experience are not great."
"We'd like it if they could reduce the cost without sacrificing on features."
"Before gaining experience with the product, I found that it was not simple to use and things took longer to do than I had anticipated."
"Oracle should actively seek feedback and tailor the approach to client needs. It shouldn't always be about pushing additional products."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is an expensive solution, but any API solution will be expensive."
"Azure is a pay-as-you-go model. You build out your virtual environment and pay a monthly price depending on CPU cores, storage, etc."
"It's an expensive solution"
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a five out of ten."
"Licensing fees are paid on an annual basis."
"The solution is highly expensive. Our customers worry about the costs. The price should be a lot less."
"Azure's pricing is very competitive compared to platforms like Apigee and MuleSoft."
"It's free for less than ten users. If you want to go beyond that, it's around $3.50 per user per month. If you want a DevOps integration, it's about $7.50 per user per month. Costs depend on the size, complexity, usage, and what facility you want to integrate. So, we use Microsoft Azure and have the entire DevOps and Visual Studio on the cloud. We get all three flavors for $7.50 per user per month."
"Oracle is not a cheap solution and it is not affordable for all of our clients in Portugal."
