Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature is the data wrangling, which is what I mainly use it for.""It's very convenient to write your own algorithms in KNIME. You can write it in Java script or Python transcript.""The most valuable is the ability to seamlessly connect operators without the need for extensive programming.""We have been able to appreciate the considerable reduction in prototyping time.""It is a stable solution...It is a scalable solution.""The visual workflow tools for custom and complex tasks always beat raw coding languages with the agility, speed to deliver, and ease of subsequent changes.""There are a lot of connectors available in KNIME.""It is very fast to develop solutions."

"The most valuable feature is the decision tree creation.""I like the way the product visually shows the data pipeline.""The most valuable feature is that you can use multiple algorithms for creating models and then you can compare the results between them.""Good data management and analytics.""The solution is able to handle quite large amounts of data beautifully.""The solution is very good for data mining or any mining issues.""I found the ease of use of the solution the most valuable. Additionally, other valuable features include: the user interface, power to extract data, compatibility with other technologies (specifically with PS400), and automation of several tasks.""The setup is straightforward. Cons
"One area that could be improved is increasing awareness and adoption of KNIME among organizations. Despite its capabilities, it is not as well-known as other tools. The advertising and marketing efforts to reach out to companies and universities have not been very successful.""The overall user experience feels unpolished. In particular: Data field type conversion is a real hassle, and date fields are a hassle; documentation is pretty poor; user community is average at best.""The documentation needs a proper rework. ""KNIME's documentation is not strong.""KNIME's licensing and data management aren't as straightforward relative to Alteryx. Alteryx's tools are more sophisticated, so you need fewer to use it compared to KNIME. I think tab implementation could be easier, too.""It's difficult to provide input on the improvement area because it's more of self-learning. However, there are times when I am not able to do certain things. I don't know if it's because the solution doesn't allow me or if it's because of the lack of knowledge.""It could input more data acquisitions from other sources and it is difficult to combine with Python.""They should look at other vendors like Alteryx that are more user friendly and modern."

More KNIME Cons →

"The ease of use can be improved. When you are new it seems a bit complex.""Virtualization could be much better.""The solution is much more complex than other options.""The user interface of the solution needs improvement. It needs to be more visual.""Technical support could be improved.""The solution needs an easier interface for the user. The user experience isn't so easy for our clients.""While I don't personally need tutorials, I can't say that it wouldn't be helpful for others to have some to help them navigate and operate the system.""The initial setup is challenging if doing it for the first time."
