Good solution for small and medium-sized businesses and highly stable
I would advise instead of only going through other reviews; it would be great if you could schedule a talk with the IBM team that would be helping you implement this solution. They would deep dive into the process and protocols you are currently set up in, and then they will provide you an optimal solution and optimal price. So I believe talking with the support team was really amazing. They even helped us in some other parts as well. It is a good solution for small and medium-sized businesses. Overall, I would rate the solution an eight out of ten because of the support team. They were able to resolve issues, which helped us deploy higher-grade solutions correctly and quickly. We were able to ensure that our processes were working correctly, and we saved about 15-16% of a week's time by using this solution. In terms of return on investment, we saved about $7,000 a month.

Users appreciate the mix of in-memory architecture and ease of backend management
The most valuable SAP HANA features are that, compared to Oracle, there is less administrative work and less complex work to handle, making it very straightforward. The tool itself takes care of the backend work. The main benefits SAP HANA provides to users include its architecture, which combines both column store and row store capabilities. Some places find the row feature important, whereas others find column store important. It allows some tables to be stored in a column base, others in a row base, and the In-Memory functionalities are mostly the highlight of SAP HANA, especially compared to disk-based memory users. This was the main reason SAP HANA was introduced initially.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The best part was that we could make minor changes in the way we were bifurcating the data, even at a very small scale. The accuracy of conversion was also very high."
"It's sufficed all of our requirements. We primarily needed it to run SAP applications, like NetWeaver or S/4HANA, and it has been really good at that."
"Probably the main feature is its in-memory database."
"The product's initial setup phase was really easy."
"As I only worked part-time on SAP HANA, I did not have the opportunity to explore the advanced features of the solution. However, I did work with basic features, such as user administration and access controls for the accounting department. The feature that stood out to me the most was the Single Sign-On and user administration, backup, and server management. My experience with SAP HANA was mainly focused on basic server improvements."
"The most valuable features are the flexibility and the integration with other solutions in data quality."
"Technically it resembles Oracle, but as a somewhat lighter version."
"The solution offers advanced features that the company was struggling to implement."
"I like the integration process. Also, the data is trusted by our management, and we use the data from transactions for analysis."

Cons

"One area for improvement would be the initial setup stage, which took longer than expected."
"The initial setup was very, very complex, tedious, and costly and required someone with great expertise to complete it."
"The performance and integration with other products are areas in need of improvement."
"I would like to see improvements in the connectivity of the solution with other BI software. Not every software can connect to it natively."
"The solution needs to work on its performance and make it faster."
"You cannot apply mulit-join inside the calculation views, for example, when you are joining tables."
"SAP HANA is not strong like Oracle when it comes to finance. They are only strong with the logistic business project."
"HANA could be improved by adding analytics and development models in the institution."
"The surface side or Attack dashboard needs improvement because there are some gaps after sales services."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"There is a yearly subscription to use SAP HANA. There is a fee for maintenance."
"I would rate the pricing of the solution a ten on ten. The pricing for on-prem SAP HANA is on a yearly basis and expensive. I am not aware of the actual pricing but it is based on 64 Gigabytes. For instance, if you consider $10,000 for 64 Gigabytes, then you can calculate the cost for Terabytes in case you have one. You will have to buy expensive hardware as well which is quite a lot."
"The tool is expensive compared to other products, like Oracle R or Microsoft, but it offers a range of all the company's functions."
"SAP HANA is expensive, but unfortunately, we do not have any alternatives."
"Set up a consortium of consulting partners and hardware vendors to define your tech. Landscape TCO (total cost of ownership) and then approach the OEM for pricing (on-premise or on cloud or a hybrid model). Check if you can bring your own licenses for some of the existing application licenses on the new platform, to reduce TCO."
"The price is high and could be a bit cheaper."
"It comes with a significant cost."
"There is an annual payment needed to use the solution."
