We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The user interface, reporting, and management are good, and we are quite happy with the performance.""We find the deduplication and compression features to be most valuable, as well as that of the backup solution inside.""The most valuable features of HPE ConvergedSystem are scalability and resilience.""We use the solution for DDI.""The flexibility is the most advantageous aspect of the solution. Our system has a very big environment. Due to this, the replication and backup operation is not an easy task. We prefer HPE SimpliVity modules in our environment, even when we have some different cases in operations.""The solution's most valuable feature is its ability to restore lost machines. Essentially its high availability capabilities are extremely valuable to us.""The most valuable features of the solution are the flexibility and the availability of the machines.""This solution is very simple to use."

"Its simplicity is most valuable. The management is easy, and you don't have to have a lot of knowledge about storage, network, etc. It is simple to manage and simple to implement, and that's its key feature.""Scaling is a piece of cake. We have been able to scale up in our Asia-Pac region. We even are doing site-to-site replication of certain systems that we need to have high availability on.""I like HPE SimpliVity's hard disk compression capabilities. The data is compressed into very little space or volume. I think that the principal value of HP SimpliVity is its capacity to compress the data, and I'm saving a lot of disk space using SimpliVity.""The HCI concept by itself is the most valuable feature of the solution. It is a full-fledged HCI. It is the main component. I think this is what makes the project valuable.""The backup and restore features are the most valuable.""We can get backups faster. We have a smaller footprint for hardware, which takes up less space. So, we use less electricity and floor space.""The whole backup capability, where we are able to create backups and restore backups in typically 40 to 50 seconds, has been great.""The most valuable feature for us is its integration, as it provides an entire solution in a single box."

Cons
"I would like to see monitoring solutions included, as well as brand support.""This is an expensive solution.""The MTG inside HP could be improved.""The interface is not fully integrated with the ESXi, which is something that could be improved.""Pricing is an area of concern in the solution where improvements are required.""The tool has shortcomings in its performance monitoring part.""It could be enhanced by improving the built-in backup solution.""HPE ConvergedSystem needs to improve its price."

More HPE ConvergedSystem Cons →

"The compatibility with other products needs an improvement.""The product should be competitive with other brands.""While it has been a while since HPE acquired SimpliVity, there is a lack of understanding/awareness about the product. In short, it took me time to actually make them understand they had a product named SimpliVity, which as you can imagine does not instill a great deal of confidence.""The initial setup is not that easy.""We had some hardware compatibility issues with the earlier versions of HPE SimpliVity. We upgraded to the latest version a few months ago, and since then, there is no hardware failure, and it is better. They don't provide a portal to create a ticket directly for the HPE SimpliVity. We have a web portal to create a ticket when we have an issue, but for HPE SimpliVity, we need to call the local vendor for support. If they are not able to resolve the issue, they contact the global support, which takes more time. Technology is moving very fast, and everybody nowadays is focusing on the cloud base. In the future, they should integrate it with the cloud base for the backup.""They can bring more awareness about this product. In this part of the world or this region, people normally don't know about SimpliVity and its capabilities. The company we have it sold to hasn't been able to fully utilize all the features or understand the features. So, product awareness should be improved.""The product is expensive.""Simplify the backup and restore: With integrated backup and remote replication, it could reduce risk and eliminates the use of legacy data tools."

  • "This is an expensive system and not every customer has the kind of budget to support it."
  • "The pricing is sensitive."
  • "This is an expensive solution."
  • "My company has a five year contract for HPE ConvergedSystem. The contracts depend on companies and sometimes it can be three years. The solution is worth its price."

  • "The tool's licensing costs are yearly."
  • "The pricing is competitive. Not a major problem. We have a subscription model."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by HPE SimpliVity users.

Jeff S., Information Technology Manager at Troyer Foods, Inc. says the solution has “Phenomenal deduplication and compression, good support, and works on its own. SimpliVity is integrated with the hypervisor, and you have a single pane of glass. It is really hands-off. Once you set your backup schedules, you're done.

A Senior Datacenter Consultant at a computer software company mentions, “The most valuable feature is the ease of use and the storage virtualization layer, together with the built-in backups. That's what makes SimpliVity really useful, and how you can replicate data between different sites without paying an extra license for that feature. All the features are built into the product.”

PeerSpot user Doug C., IT Engineer at a government, comments, “Backups and restores occur very quickly. All SimpliVity management is done through vCenter, providing a single-pane of glass for all management and configuration functions. The advanced deduplication and compression greatly reduce the storage requirements, reducing the amount of expensive flash storage required. The 10G interfaces between the SimpliVity nodes greatly speeds up VM migrations between nodes. SimpliVity enables "stretched-cluster" operation with mirrored storage between the nodes, enabling automated failover. If a node or site goes down for any reason, the VMs on that node are automatically restarted on the other node.”

German I., Solutions Architect Data Center Servers and Storage at Tecnologia informatica, explains, “The integration possibilities regarding the administration console are one of the best configurations and one of the best features that differentiates this product from others in the market. Also, you can add extra coverage protection that includes everything inside of the hard drives — similar products don't do this. You can use it directly from the hypervisor, which is great.”
