Ease of use in data center boosts resilience and infrastructure efficiency
I find the HPE 3PAR StoreServ valuable for its ease of use and resilience, which is beneficial. The main benefits I have seen from having HPE 3PAR StoreServ include its use at a small branch I managed for about three years with around 60 users. It operates effectively because it is an HPE product we use there. I have not experienced any significant issues besides occasional IT-related ones, such as local database problems. Since handing over the administration of the system to someone else and moving to another department, there have not been any issues. There are many features that exist but I haven't needed to try. Before moving out of that role in my organization, I knew it was a product I enjoyed working with for infrastructure purposes. After completing my new role, I intend to return to infrastructure.

An entry-level, flash-based storage system designed for enterprise-class applications
It took significantly longer to set up the solution with Huawei compared to other options. But when creating servers for VMware virtualization in one data center, it was a relatively quick process. The Huawei's solution, even with the assistance of an engineer, took more than one month, possibly extending to two months. Chinese engineers were involved in the process, which contributed to the delays.

Pros

"We use it for our VND environment; it’s made it easy to make sure we have the highest throughput capable and has helped with our connectivity to our DL servers, making functionality a lot easier."
"Performance is much better with this solution and I still think it is the best solution out there."
"Performance is amazing, the downtime is almost none, and it is easy to manage, even for their new software updates, the integration with the server, and with all the HPE environment."
"I am impressed with the product's online upgrades."
"We have had it for about two years and had zero problems with it."
"I do not have to worry about cross systems talking to each other or multiple systems trying to interact with each other. Our entire vCenter infrastructure is one large stack, which is nice."
"Before using centralized storage, we needed to make sure that we have enough physical disks installed in a server, now we know exactly the capacity that we need for the upcoming year, and it's much easier for us to enlarge the capacity and expose these disk volumes to the relevant servers."
"It is a really stable product. We have not had any major issues at the moment."
"It has many options for scalability, and it is stable."
"The storage capacity is really one of the most valuable features. Also, the GUI is very friendly and the switches gives high performance. The technology used in storage is RAID which as helped us a lot to expand and store various items ."

Cons

"The tool has low storage and low performance. This can be solved by adding more disco to the solution. The product’s pricing is also suited for enterprise businesses rather than smaller ones.I would like to see better performance, UI, and compatibility with other products in future releases."
"In the next release, I think I would like to see lower-cost SSD features."
"Firmware stability could be improved."
"I would like to see more cloud-based integrations and more file storage capabilities."
"Support has gone down a little bit in the past few years."
"One big thing I would like to see is to be able to promote a virtual volume while it's still exporting."
"With 3PAR, there is remote copy software which isn't very good."
"The speed of the hard disk could be better. The performance is the main issue for us."
"The handling of data deletion and bulk servers setup could have been more straightforward and easier when dealing with data removal or setting up servers. I believe Huawei could enhance their solutions, especially managing storage, to provide a better experience for customers."
"The call charges and the management cost should be more friendly. They can also include monitoring and management."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is lower in price as compared to other vendors, such as Dell. As compared to Huawei, all storage solutions are expensive, including this one."
"HPE 3PAR StoreServ is an expensive solution."
"They have added features, such as the compression and duplication, which have further increased our ROI."
"The support for the solution is free for three years, then it is an additional cost. It is approximately $30,000 annually. The price includes a lot of equipment we have not only HPE 3PAR StoreServ."
"The licensing cost for HPE 3PAR StoreServ is expensive."
"The solution's price is reasonable."
"We do not have any licensing fees."
"There was a one-time cost when we procured this product and there are no monthly or yearly licensing fees."
"The installation is expensive as they often come as a comprehensive package. The design is more integrated, and everything is bundled together as part of the solution. This is what contributes to the higher cost of their solutions because when you purchase one element, it often comes with additional features and components, and you end up paying for the entire package."
"It is cheaper than other solutions."

Measuring Up: EMC XtremIO and HP 3PAR
Leading up to EMC World 2015, IT Central Station asked how I would compare EMC XtremIO and HP 3PAR. Until recently, the flash storage conversation in my organization and many others has centered on XtremIO and Pure Storage, the leaders of the all-flash array (AFA) space. To that end, I've written a…
