We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"appreciate the File Trajectory feature, as it's excellent for an analyst or mobile analyst. I can track everything that happens on our server from my PC or device. Integration with SecureX is a welcome feature because it connects Cisco's integrated security portfolio with our complete infrastructure. Sandboxing is helpful, and integration with the Cisco environment is excellent as we use many of their products, and that's very valuable for us.""The threat Grid with the ability to observe the sandboxing, analyze, and perform investigations of different malicious files has been great.""The biggest lesson that I have learned from using this product is that there is a lot more malware slipping through my email filters than I expected.""It is extensive in terms of providing visibility and insights into threats. It allows for research into a threat, and you can chart your progress on how you're resolving it.""The most valuable feature is its threat protection and data privacy, including its cyber attack and data protection, as we need to cover and protect data on user devices.""Another of my favorite features is called the Device Trajectory, where it shows everything that's going on, on a computer. It shows the point in time when a virus is downloaded, so you can see if the user was surfing the internet or had a program open. It shows every running process and file access on the computer and saves it like a snapshot when it detects something malicious. It also has a File Trajectory, so you can even see if that file has been found on any of your other computers that have AMP.""Among the most valuable features are the exclusions. And on the scalability side, we can integrate well with the SIEM orchestration engine and a number of applications that are proprietary or open source.""The integration with other Cisco products seemed to be really effective. We had Umbrella in place and we were using AnyConnect as well as Firepower. Once a threat was detected, being able to do the threat lookups and the live tracking was really useful."

"Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.""It is stable and scalable.""This is stable and scalable.""The stability is very good.""The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers.""The price is low and quite competitive with others."

More Fortinet FortiEDR Pros →

"XDR provided a much more deep view into what is actually happening.""Trend Micro XDR is stable, scalable, and reasonably priced.""What I like the most about Trend Micro XDR is that the detection and response domain extends to the network. It goes beyond the endpoint and includes data about the network which lets you pinpoint patient zero as well as the root cause of the attack.""We can scale the product as needed.""The telemetric report is the most valuable feature.""The solution is stable.""I like that it is a comprehensive security solution with a lot of features. You can say XDR is an end-to-end security solution with endpoint security. It includes all your servers, networks, and other devices. The endpoint security solution does not cover this. Plus, machine learning and features like that are the main things in XDR solutions.""We had a quick deployment. The solution is easy to set up."

Cons
"This product has issues with the number of false positives that it reports.""They could improve the main dashboard to more clearly show me the things that I want to see. When I open the dashboard right now, I see a million things and they are not always the things that I need.""An easier way to do deduplication of machines, or be alerted to the fact that there's more than one instance of a machine, would be useful... That way you could get a more accurate device count, so you're not having an inflated number.""The GUI needs improvement, it's not good.""It could be improved in connection with artificial intelligence and IoT.""We don't have issues. We think that Cisco covers all of the security aspects on the market. They continue to innovate in the right way.""In terms of the user experience, if the UX design could be much simpler [that would improve things]... if they could make it more intuitive for someone who is not an engineer so that they still can read what's going on in their webpage and understand, that would be something.""The thing I hate the most, which they have not fixed, is when it creates duplicate entries within a console. If you have a computer and you upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10, or you upgrade your agent from version 6 to 7, it creates a new instance in there instead of updating the information. Instead of paying a license for one computer, I have to license two computers until I manually go in, search for all the duplicate entries, and clean them out myself."

More Cisco Secure Endpoint Cons →

"The amount of usage, the number of details we get, or the number of options that can be tweaked is limited in comparison to that with other EDR solutions""We'd like to see more one-to-one product presentations for the distribution channels.""Everything with Fortinet having to do with their cloud services. They need to invest more in their internal infrastructure that they are running in the cloud. One of the things I find with their cloud environment compared to others' is that they go cheap on the equipment. So it causes some performance degradation.""The SIEM could be improved.""Cannot be used on mobile devices with a secure connection.""The dashboard isn't easy to access and manage."

More Fortinet FortiEDR Cons →

"The price could be lower.""The agent system is very slow, it needs to improve its performance.""Results were delayed.""It should integrate with more tools. There are a lot of tools that can do the PTP dump.""The product needs to have a lot more maturity, and they need to improve the overall technical support framework for getting the value out of XDR.""A room for improvement in Trend Micro XDR is more visibility into the alerts. We do get alerts from the solution, but when we are away, we need to have more visibility.""There isn't a lot I'd do to change it. The web interface could be improved to sort of make it a little easier to manage multiple clients out of one location. It could also be made a bit easier to sort of manage the licensing side of it.""We'd like to see a few more integrations."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Licensing fees are on a yearly basis and I am happy with the pricing."
  • "We have a license for 3,000 users and if we get up to 3,100 users, it doesn't stop working, but on the next renewal date you're supposed to go in there and add that extra 100 licenses. It's really good that they let you grow and expand and then pay for it. Sometimes, with other products, you overuse a license and they just don't work."
  • "Cisco Secure Endpoint is not too expensive and it's not cheap. It's quite fair."
  • "The price is very fair to the customer."
  • "...the licensing needs to be improved. All the product features we need are there. It's just a matter of the complexity and the different offerings and trying to figure things out."
  • "The pricing and licensing fees are okay."
  • "Because we do see the value of what it's bringing, I think they have priced it well."
  • "The solution is highly affordable; I believe we pay $2 or $3 per endpoint. It's significantly cheaper than the competitors on the market."

  • "There are no issues with the pricing."
  • More Fortinet FortiEDR Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "It is costly. It is not that affordable for a small organization. Only big organizations can afford it. It is a new feature that has been added, so its price is fair. Its licensing is probably subscription-based. It is for one or two years."
  • "It would be nice if it was a little bit cheaper, but I think it has a fair price. It is comparable to others in the market."
  • "The price is reasonable. It's not exorbitant. CrowdStrike and other players are on the higher side."
  • "We have an annual subscription and I believe there is no option for monthly billing at the moment."
  • "Trend Micro XDR is expensive, and you have to pay for it yearly."
  • "Trend Micro XDR has a good price, and on a scale of one to five, I would rate it a four out of five in terms of price."

    Overview

Cisco Secure Endpoint is a cloud-managed endpoint security solution that provides advanced protection against viruses, malware, and other cyber threats by detecting, preventing, and responding to threats. Cisco Secure Endpoint is managed online via a web-based management console and can be deployed on a variety of platforms. It protects endpoints, networks, emails, and web traffic.

In a world of evolving threats, it’s necessary to put security above everything. Cisco Secure Endpoint provides you with the scope, scale, and capabilities to attain effective security with its integrated portfolio and industry-leading threat intelligence. Cisco Secure Endpoint continuously tracks and analyzes files and file activities across your systems - both remote and on premises - and compares these events to other events that occurred before or during past attacks. If a file exhibits malicious behavior, the tool sends an alert which enables you to stop a potential threat from succeeding.

Key Capabilities of Cisco Secure Endpoint

    • Multi-layered protection: Cisco Secure Endpoint combines behavioral analytics, machine learning, and signature-based techniques to prevent threats from compromising your endpoints.

    • Powerful EDR capabilities: Reduce attack surface using advanced endpoint and extended detection and response, threat hunting, and endpoint isolation.

    • Dynamic malware analysis: Identify and block attacks in real time.

    • Simplified investigations: Advanced search capabilities help you get the information you need about your endpoints fast.

    Reviews from Real Users

Cisco Secure Endpoint stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its ability to enable developers to easily secure their endpoints with one single operation using its management console and its advanced alerting techniques.

Tim C., an IT manager at Van Der Meer Consulting, writes, "The solution makes it possible to see a threat once and block it everywhere across all endpoints and the entire security platform. It has the ability to block right down to the file and application level across all devices based on policies, such as, blacklisting and whitelisting of software and applications. This is good. Its strength is the ability to identify threats very quickly, then lock them and the network down and block the threats across the organization and all devices, which is what you want. You don't want to be spending time working out how to block something. You want to block something very quickly, letting that flow through to all the devices and avoiding the same scenario on different operating systems."

Wouter H., a technical team lead network & security at Missing Piece BV, notes, "Any alert that we get is an actionable alert. Immediately, there is information that we can just click through, see the point in time, what happened, what caused it, and what automatic actions were taken. We can then choose to take any manual actions, if we want, or start our investigation. We're no longer looking at digging into information or wading through hundreds of incidents. There's a list which says where the status is assigned, e.g., under investigation or investigation finished. That is all in the console. It has taken away a lot of the administration, which we would normally be doing, and integrated it into the console for us."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by Fortinet FortiEDR users.

An Owner at a security firm says, "The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers. The customer has literally about 800 cash registers. That was the use case for Fortinet FortiEDR - to get that down into a tiny space. The only way to do that was to use this product because it had that ability to unbundle services that were a surplus.”

Chandan M., Chief Technical Officer at Provision Technologies LLP, mentions, “The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration.” He also adds, “The security is also very good and the firewall response is good.”

Harpreet S., Information Technology Support Specialist at Chemtrade Logistics, explains, "It notifies us if there's any suspicious file on any PC. If any execution or similar kind of thing is happening, it just alerts us. It doesn't only alert. It also blocks the execution until we allow it. We check whether the execution is legitimate or not, and then approve it or keep it blocked. This gives us a little bit of control over this mechanism. Fortinet FortiEDR is also very straightforward and easy to maintain."

DeAndre V., Senior Network Administrator at a financial services firm, states, “The dashboard is easy to follow and use. The deployment and uninstalling were easy. I like the detailed information about the path of a file that might be suspicious. Being able to check that out was easy to follow. Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.

    Trend Micro XDR Benefits

    • Full Transparency: A fascinating GUI provides a single pane of visibility to indicate the threat’s point of entry and how it entered and migrated, all endpoints affected, and more.

    • Improved Efficiency: Trend Micro XDR integrates seamlessly with SIEM and SOAR solutions and gives IT personnel greater visibility throughout the entire network. The solution facilitates improved response by minimizing manual activities and streamlining workflows to ensure responses can be more immediate.

    • Next-Gen AI Security: Supplies faster, better detection. Turns gathered data into actionable response steps to ensure the network is continually protected. Integrates seamlessly with many third-party security stacks.

    • Numerous Security Layers: Appropriate XDR protection requires multiple layers of protection. Trend Micro XDR covers cloud workloads, endpoints, networks, servers, email, and more. The solution has aggressive response capabilities and excellent integration with many of today’s popular tools.

    Reviews from Real Users

“I like that it is a comprehensive security solution with a lot of features. You can say XDR is an end-to-end security solution with endpoint security. It includes all your servers, networks, and other devices. The endpoint security solution does not cover this. Plus, machine learning and features like that are the main things in XDR solutions.” - Nadeem S., CEO at Haniya Technologies.

“Its detection rate is valuable. It is really an easy product to install and manage. It is quite effective at what it does, and if needed, it can also be co-managed, which means 24 hours and seven days a week monitoring through a SOC.” - Charles D., Technical Services Manager at Psitech.
