We performed a comparison between DX Performance Management and SCOM based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Network Monitoring Software solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."We can manage the entire system across the network and troubleshoot the pain points."
"The integration to the other products that we use: NFA, we use ADA, we use Spectrum; and CAPM integrates all those into a single pane of glass."
"Great dashboards and good integration with other solutions."
"I can get it to run a report showing, for instance, what root drives are in the critical range in terms of being full, like 90 percent full, and disseminate that information to the other areas of the organization."
"There is another component of the tool called Network Flow Analysis. It gives us the ability to troubleshoot issues which do not appear right away."
"The solution's performance itself is very good because it is a vertical database that loads very fast in comparison to other products."
"What is most useful is visibility."
"The ability to quickly do drag and drop customized reports for dashboards."
"When we deployed it, right out of the box we were able to stand up Performance Management within two weeks, in our production environment, with full discovery and relevant information, actual information, that we could use in our command center, our 24/7 operations center."
"The most valuable features in SCOM are Azure monitoring and integration with Azure Monitor for monitoring Azure-hosted servers from SCOM on-premises."
"The advantages of SCOM are that it is definitely user friendly and a more appropriate solution for what we need."
"It works better than other products I’ve used – namely SolarWinds, which is cumbersome and error prone for web app monitoring. SCOM is not."
"The product’s auto-remediation feature helps with automation."
"This solution helps our application teams by allowing them to drill further into issues and perform a root cause analysis."
"The solution primarily drives system information, and I believe it works fine."
"I like the historical reporting of observer metrics."
"Being able to make and customize management packs and send out notifications is very valuable."
"The Wi-Fi side needs improvement."
"CA PM Business Hours Filtering: I understand that all monitoring systems have defects. The Business Hours Filtering does not always function properly. Sometimes, when applying business hours to CA PM reports that are 30 or more days in duration, the report generation times out and does not display results. We have other CA PM reports that, when we apply Business Hours Filtering, the report results displayed are the same as without the filter. We are not sure if this is a defect in CA PM or if it is a result of our complex configuration (folder structure) and application of business hours."
"This tool gathers so much data, which makes it hard to convert over. To upgrade it, you really need the solution backed up. That is the issue that we are facing right now."
"We experience disconnections between the solutions own components."
"This solution's implementation process could be quicker. They could also optimize the hardware requirements."
"Policies could be improved."
"CA PM can be complex to build and configure. Creating the folders / groups / sites required establishing many rule sets."
"The solution could improve the database model. It is also not very good because they have a lot of interconnections with other data sources, such as NFA and VNA."
"It could be a little easier to integrate new metrics."
"I would like to better be able to monitor Oracle processes."
"Then there is also an issue with capacity and limited space. That is something that needs to be improved."
"Third-party tools have had to be created to make SCOM management pack creation more efficient and effective. However, this weighs down the application as it just adds a resource requirement, which is ballooning the size of the necessary storage and all that for essentially substandard components."
"I would like to see more standard libraries for the market solutions, out of the box, that you don't need to do a lot of work on."
"I would like to see them improve their network monitoring."
"I would like to see better support for monitoring Unix-based systems."
"It lacks certain details that other products do better, like granular access and better application monitoring."
"The management of the servers could be better."
