Effective for password rotation policies triggered by audit requirements, it helps maintain compliance standards and seamless integration with third-party tools
The "App to App" feature has been most impactful. It allows secure communication between applications without requiring direct user access, which is crucial for several applications. Additionally, working in the finance department, we are heavily focused on enhancing audit reporting and compliance. So, the GRC (Governance, Risk & Compliance) capabilities of Delinea Secret Server have also been crucial for us. We implemented a custom reporting system that can automatically send reports to auditors daily, weekly, or according to your organization's needs. We also upgraded the audit role within Secret Server, allowing auditors to access and analyze the reports directly. Additionally, Secret Server provides comprehensive logging capabilities. Auditors can see what data users access, their access levels, and their activities, including check-in and check-out times. Furthermore, Secret Server helped us manage privileged, elevated access, which we call "K2K." As the lead for this project, I could identify users with the highest access levels and implement specific policies to monitor their activity on servers.

Offers dynamic secrets and certificate management for proactive security measures
The best features in HashiCorp Vault are its dynamic certificate management and dynamic secret management, which are the key features that use data effectively. These are very targeted use cases that cut across multiple solutions. I have utilized Vault's encryption capabilities for securing data in transit and at rest, especially for dynamically consuming database encryption, which covers the requirements of various scenarios where databases do not have encryption capability. HashiCorp Vault provides security by rotating the keys and taking all the burden of securing the data from the database. These are key core features that many users employ in this solution. Vault's audit logs provide insights into access patterns and help ensure compliance. These facilities are configurable, and the logs are encrypted, ensuring that anything recorded in the logs is secure. We could use systems that comply with specific standards for audit logging and scanning, especially when working with them. The benefits from HashiCorp Vault include significant advantages in security lifecycle management itself. The value becomes apparent when security incidents occur. It has substantial value in proactively protecting from adverse situations, providing resilience and appreciation by customers in complete security lifecycle management solutions for core infrastructure applications.

Provides wide options for multifactor authentication with very simple implementation
We struggled with the end users because most don't have the required IT background. They needed password resets for emails and accounts in the active directory. This created an issue for the help desk, and the system and ManageEngine ADSelfService Plus gave us a QR solution for the end users. Once an account is set up, you scan the QR code through Google authentication, Microsoft authentication or any program that can authenticate with the QR. You'll automatically generate a code that gives the port to reset or unlock your account very easily.

"I have found the password management and the secret management features to be the most valuable. Our customers find its ease of integration and the use of power shells really attractive."
"The ease of granting access to a secret without having to share the actual password and the password rotation were the main features I found effective for password management."
"The ability to give some groups access to different kind of databases with the storage of a password is the most valuable feature."
"The solution is scalable."
"It is able to manage storage and use of personal passwords."
"It is a good product to consider for companies who are looking to build on-premise or hybrid infrastructure."
"It's stable. I would rate the stability a nine out of ten."
"The benefits from HashiCorp Vault include significant advantages in security lifecycle management itself."
"We use the solution for secret management."
"We were using it because we have compliance requirements around secret management. Having a secure vault and encrypting data was an additional requirement. When we looked at it first, we were just looking for a vault, like a lockbox. The greatest benefit of HashiCorp is its ability to manage encryption on the fly. It provides encryption of data at rest, in use, in transit, on the fly, and linked with applications, which was really attractive."
"The most valuable feature of HashiCorp Vault is version control."
"For me, the most valuable features include that it's easy to manage and maintain the password API for retrieving passwords and other things."
"The most valuable feature of HashiCorp Vault is that it's an open source solution. Second, it's cloud agnostic, so it's very easy to maintain and control, which is why we prefer HashiCorp."
"The most valuable feature is the ability for remote users to change their login credentials using their mobile devices."
"Having multifactor authentication in Windows machines."
"Monitoring is one of the most valuable features for us."
"It's very simple to manage and implement. Its functions are straightforward. You get all the basic features, such as you get the option to unlock the user account if it is locked. You can enforce password policies, and you also have the option to allow them to reset their passwords if they forget it. These were the basic requirements of my company that we could achieve through this product."
"The solution provides wide options for multifactor authentication."
"The solution enables agents to reset their passwords."
"Due to ransomware and novel threats, we can no longer allow people to gain domain admin access to our servers with only a username and password. With MFA, they must supply a one-time password sent to them via some authenticator, like Microsoft or Google Authenticator. It could be a text message."
"One of the most valuable features is the self-service capability. I"

Cons

"The technical support needs improvement. For example, if you have any problems on the server configuring the IIS, they would provide you very limited details and they would tell you the problem is on your end."
"Delinea Secret Server can improve by extending the monitoring policies and making the performance better."
"The tool should integrate additional features like OCR."
"What needs improvement? The product can be improved by reducing the number of updates provided."
"Having more detailed reporting would improve this solution."
"I don't know what kind of a cryptographic it uses to encrypt the password but it should be one of the stronger ones. Some of the cryptos have been accessed by hackers."
"Whenever an update is applied to Secret Server, it requires downtime. Most of the time, the solution tends to fail, necessitating the need to pull data from backup servers."
"I would like to see improvement with the integration with Azure Active Directory. This would mean that we can have support on multiple platforms such as Windows, Linux, and Mac."
"I would rate the stability a six out of ten. There are some bugs and glitches. We are in touch with the vendor to resolve them."
"The documentation is very general; it should have more examples and more use cases."
"HashiCorp Vault can be improved from the security perspective, as it focuses on security lifecycle management. It requires other solutions for monitoring as users need to rely on tools that constantly monitor the system, especially database activity."
"The technical support was hard to get a hold of and lacking in service."
"We could use more documentation, primarily to do with integrations."
"A drawback for some clients who have to be PCI compliant is that they still need to use and subscribe to an HSM (Hardware Security Module) solution."
"I would like to see better integration of HashiCorp Vault with SAP products."
"An improvement needed is the ability for auto-initialization. There should be an inbuilt option for automatic initialization rather than running it manually."
"We need more reports for visualization."
"They could improve their security of the products to prevent vulnerabilities."
"The price must be reduced."
"There is a lack of specific information provided by the analytics portion of the software."
"Could be simplified, not user-friendly."
"The worst part is that the solution can only be installed or updated on a device if it is physically connected to the local network."
"The registration process could be improved. It should be easier for users to register for the service."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is an annual license fee per user and the price is fair."
"Its price is okay. We don't compete on pricing. We seldom use price to win over our competitors. We prefer it this way because if we can sustain the price, we make more margin as well. We don't want the price to go down to the bottom where despite the win, there's no margin at all."
"Compared to other solutions, Delinea Secret Server is competitively priced but on the higher side."
"When comparing the price of Thycotic Secret Server with other solutions it is reasonable."
"It isn't terribly expensive."
"It is very expensive, and its price should be lower."
"I would rate the pricing a six out of ten, with ten being a high price."
"I would give the price a four on a scale from one to ten, with one being the cheapest and ten being the most expensive. We pay for the license on a yearly basis, and we paid for three years. It costs around 5000 a year."
"It could do everything we wanted it to do and it is brilliant, but it is super pricey. To be fair to HashiCorp, we drove the price up with our requirements around resiliency. Because of the nature of our company, we don't really operate in the cloud."
"The product is expensive."
"The AWS version is much cheaper than HashiCorp Vault."
"In my case, the open-source version works well. It's advisable for small to medium-scale organizations, but for large-scale organizations, you should go with the enterprise version."
"The solution's cost is reasonable."
"I am using the open-source version of Vault and I would have to buy a license if I want to get support."
"You purchase the license for one time, and you can use it for a lifetime. The only thing is that in order to get support, you need to upgrade your product to the latest solution. You need to keep a support contract with them for which you have to pay some amount. It's a very small amount for renewing their support contract. Overall, it's very cost-effective."
"Using this solution costs us about $1,200 USD per year."
