Configuring complex customized quotes has improved flexibility but still needs smoother approvals
There are many out-of-the-box features available in Conga CPQ compared to other CPQ systems, and we can easily customize the entire CPQ itself using many customizations and APIs that are not available in other systems. Out-of-the-box APIs are the best features that Conga CPQ offers, as everything can be customizable. The product bulk loader is a feature that has helped my team significantly. For instance, in other CPQ systems, implementing similar features requires extensive customization. However, with Conga CPQ, using the Add Multi-Prod API, we only need a CSV file with product codes and quantities. We check for any active price list items and prepare a wrapper class to input data to that API, which simplifies creating a cart with products. Conga CPQ positively impacts my organization with many ongoing projects involving its features. People appreciate its extensive features and the support from the Conga team, who respond immediately to any cases we raise.

Has connected financial data across departments and improved future cash flow planning
I would like to improve the integration with other solutions, as I need everything integrated, like the HR module, purchase module, SCM, production, and engineering. Each and every module should be connected to the finance module, and I think Oracle provides the right solution. Also, SAP, IFS, or Microsoft Dynamics 365 offer some solutions, but I am not as happy with them as I am with Oracle. I believe that Oracle E-Business Suite could improve by transitioning from Java-based scripts in our system to a web-based environment. While Oracle already has JD Edwards available in web-based format, I think it needs to be smoother for optimization and presentation in the future. In comparison, IFS is fully web-based, and all applications are sufficiently good and user-friendly. We are developing and trying to improve to a web-based setup, but it is currently too costly.

Pros

"There are many out-of-the-box features available in Conga CPQ compared to other CPQ systems, and we can easily customize the entire CPQ itself using many customizations and APIs that are not available in other systems."
"Conga CPQ offers the best features, particularly pricing, allowing me to achieve complex pricing with ease, such as using the totaling callback and base price callback."
"For complex pricing and orders, if organizations want more efficiency and error tracking, Conga CPQ is a strong choice."
"Oracle E-Business Suite is very stable, and Oracle is continuously patching, upgrading, and reporting any changes or security issues, which contributes greatly to the stability of the solution."
"The system is reliable and the backbone of financial and other core systems in many organizations worldwide."
"Oracle EBS provides the customer with faster financial closing because of its accurate calculations."
"Oracle EBS adapts to our business rules, so we don't have to change them, whereas SAP is rigid."
"When I put these aside, EBS saves time and increases the efficiency for the customers."
"This is a world-class application that includes a lot of business processes from other ERPs that Oracle has acquired."
"EBS has lots of application families and lots of features. It is modular in deployment and flexible enough to let the customer increase the built-in capabilities and enable new applications when needed. These are very important things at hand in case there will be a need to expand the product capabilities and/or implement new projects."
"It essentially runs our business, from our financials to manufacturing to supply-chain to planning instances."

Cons

"After converting to Conga LP revenue life cycle platform, we identified several areas for improvement. We run into more sync issues and data synchronization problems."
"However, I am currently facing many difficulties with data synchronization, and it has several loopholes not working as expected in Turbo, such as validation callbacks working fine in Turbo but failing in RLP."
"There are a few manual steps we need to take, such as handling a complex approval process in Conga CPQ."
"Oracle tends to be slower when it comes to bringing flashy functionalities than other, smaller entities can deliver."
"The initial upgrade, as I’ve mentioned, took away some of our valuable reports that were in the original Oracle EBS. That was really annoying."
"Sometimes with Oracle support, depending on the analyst you get, you can hit walls in trying to find answers."
"The biggest frustration I have with Oracle is that they have taken an acquisition approach. Because of this, the modules don't talk to each other."
"Oracle licensing is very complex, and the pricing is too expensive."
"It's more expensive than other options due to licensing costs and core-based hardware."
"I would like an end-to-end in terms of processes. There are different modules, however, there's not that end-to-end that we are looking for in terms of process automation."
"The user interface can be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"This is a highly-priced application and would not be affordable for small or medium business domains."
"Both the current projects and future projects should be defined well. Licensing should be done according to current and near future plans."
"The license is very expensive and I think that it needs to be cheaper to get a wider range of users or customers."
"Oracle's licenses are not straightforward."
"Compared to other vendors like SAP or Microsoft, the prices for Oracle are reasonable, but they could always be lower."
"In my opinion, the prices for Oracle ERP are reasonable, especially considering the various discounts that are often available."
"In order to minimize the implementation and consultancy costs, business lines should have proper definitions. They need to have a proper way of retrieving their data, which should be structured well."
"It costs too much."
