Secure backups have simplified compliance and now provide immutable protection for cloud workloads
The best features that Clumio offers are the ability to know when a backup has completed, to know how to restore both files at the file level and also restore EBS backups, point-in-time restores, as well as snapshots. Clumio has positively impacted our organization by providing us with the peace of mind of knowing that all of our EC2 instances are securely backed up. This peace of mind has translated into measurable outcomes as we adhere to NIST 800 compliance, and with that, we need immutable backups and the ability to have backups that do not exist within our existing tenants. Clumio fixes that problem for us.

Active data protection has ensured high availability and supports seamless reporting workloads
In my opinion, Active Data Guard is the most valuable feature. We use the secondary side for reporting purposes, which reduces the load on the primary side. Oracle Data Guard includes functions such as automatic failover, but we use manual managed failover. After some months, we converted our primary to secondary and secondary to primary. Oracle Data Guard is effective in minimizing data loss and provides a good solution for that. The main benefits of Oracle Data Guard include minimizing data loss during a production failure. It is used for maximum availability when paired with Oracle RAC, so if any disruption occurs, we have an alternative Data Guard to convert our load to the disaster recovery site. Oracle Data Guard maintains a high level of data integrity by using archive logs. When a transaction happens, redo logs create archive logs, which are then applied on the disaster recovery side, ensuring that both databases are synchronized.

Pros

"Clumio proved to be the most cost-effective option."
"We have been able to safely and securely save our backups off of AWS."
"Working with the Clumio/Commvault team has been a very good experience."
"Clumio has a straightforward setup"
"It has improved our disaster recovery footprint; previously, backups were only stored on premises, and having an offsite backup improves our reliability and security."
"Clumio gave us a genuinely isolated vault that sits outside our AWS Organization's blast radius."
"Clumio has positively impacted our organization by providing us with the peace of mind of knowing that all of our EC2 instances are securely backed up."
"We now have the peace of mind knowing that our entire AWS infrastructure is fully backed up into an air-gapped environment."
"The stability is good; it's very reliable."
"Developers can test their code thoroughly before installing it into production and know precisely how it will perform."
"With Data Guard, Oracle guarantees zero data loss, providing peace of mind for organizations relying on their data for critical operations."
"The solution is quite stable, as we haven't experienced any bugs, glitches, or crashes, and we find it to be quite reliable."
"Active Data Guard has helped us a lot in achieving the real time reporting by offloading our heavy reports from Production to Standby database."
"I think for our company, the way we use it, we are very happy with it and the end customer is very happy with it."
"We use Data Guard for online replication from data center, to data center for high availability. This is the most important feature."
"The most valuable features are the backup and restore. With this in place along with the clustering, the database is safe from hacking, hardware failure, power failures, and system crashes."

Cons

"I was not a fan of the buy-up-front model due to the scaling of data size."
"We are still exploring the areas where improvements might be needed."
"The credit system can be confusing, but if you talk to your account manager, they can help alleviate those concerns."
"It would be beneficial to show when backups are available and to receive alerts if there are any issues with the backups."
"The account onboarding process deploys around 20 IAM roles per account, which is heavy."
"More alignment with Clumio and Commvault branding would have helped us understand the product better during the discovery phase."
"They need to improve their SQL backup services"
"Oracle could be improved by the ability to manage it on the cloud. This on-premises version is secure and reliable, but I'm sure that they will soon provide a cloud solution that will be even better. In one to two years, we will probably move to the cloud—we have already moved to the cloud with Microsoft Exchange, but our databases are still on-premises. I would prefer managing a cloud version of Oracle."
"The predominant issue lies in the communication link between the secondary and primary databases."
"The database administration needs improvement. With Oracle, we have a lot of features for administrating data, but it might be too many. It needs to be simplified. It should be automated. Looking at Enterprise Manager, there are too many KPIs in place."
"Oracle Data Guard is stable, but you need to keep monitoring the system all the time. You need to keep monitoring the archives."
"Sometimes, the technical support team takes time to respond."
"It is a very useful administrative IT tool. It saves on costs."
"For Italian medium-sized companies, the main challenge lies in the cost associated with licenses."
"They may need to include the monitoring and the alerting part in Data Guard."
