Has provided secure remote access for years but inconsistent support delays resolution
Regarding logging and management, while some of the logging is really good, other times it's not so great, and we've had to reach out to Check Point a few times for assistance, and the support we've gained hasn't been up to par with what Check Point usually offers as part of their support. When it comes to improvements, not specifically the remote access VPN, but the support associated with Check Point products has fallen over the last two years, and the response time is much worse, with the first layer of support lacking sufficient knowledge on how to troubleshoot issues.

Efficient technical support with good synchronization features, but it needs better security
We would like to be to secure access to all of the servers for all of the internal workers and engineers. We would like to have tools that provide us with security for our servers. I would like to see an improved repository to better see the users. We have a new project that requires a lot of security we will not continue with SecureLink. The security features offered in SecureLink are not enough.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Organizations that already use the Check Point NGFW Solution do not require any additional hardware, which makes the implementation straightforward and reduces the time to go live."
"The solution has been solid for me for over five years."
"The VPN hides your IP address and encrypts your online traffic and it essentially ensures that your fingerprints cannot be traced on the Internet."
"The most valuable feature of Check Point Remote Access VPN is its ability to deploy. It follows the same process as their stateful inspection firewall or IPS. If you know how to enable one feature, you can enable and configure others. The learning curve isn't steep."
"This platform has developed a reliable communication infrastructure that employees can use to communicate with remote workers."
"Access is browser-based only and requires no additional client installation."
"Setting policies allow, block, and limit users' access."
"It allows everyone to work from home. If no one could work from home, then we wouldn't have a company, especially now during COVID-19. It's mission-critical, especially since it's currently being used. If there is a problem with it, we would really be screwed. We would be hard-pressed because we would have to figure out what solution we're going to go with, how to deploy it, how long it would take to deploy it, and how we'd even get it on people's computers if we couldn't VPN to them. It would be near impossible to just change to a new VPN solution right now."
"The most valuable feature is synchronizing the limited access for partners or sub-contractors."

Cons

"We'd like to integrate Check Point into the Remote Access VPN solution and have the ability to integrate multiple devices as access points through the solution."
"It's difficult to configure on Linux workstations as Check Point Remote VPN clients support only Windows and Mac devices."
"Sometimes we have some small problems with Check Point Remote Access VPN. For example, problems with authentication."
"Some configurations, like idle timeout (the requirement came from multiple users), are not possible to configure directly from the Check Point management server."
"The non-standard setup is quite complex as you have to do changes via GUI and CLI."
"The product needs to improve its support."
"Check Point Remote Access VPN could be improved in that the initial setup and configuration could be simplified for new users."
"The maximum it is giving us is only 5 licenses and if you need more, they must be purchased separately."
"The security features offered in SecureLink are not enough."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Check Point Remote Access VPN is not expensive and the cost is annual."
"I can say that the licensing costs are charged annually."
"My understanding is that the pricing and licensing are very competitive, and it's not one of their more expensive products. We buy licenses for the solution and have licenses for the endpoint servers."
"There is a license required for this solution."
"I give the price of the solution a five out of ten."
"Regarding pricing, as a global customer, we get a big discount. For us, it's a good return on investment. We need to pay for additional features we want to enable. It seems cheaper than other vendors, but I can't say what it would cost an average customer."
"Organizations that already have the Check Point NGFW need to purchase an additional license to have access to the VPN functionality."
"My company makes yearly payments only towards the licensing costs attached to Check Point Remote Access VPN, as there are no extra costs attached to the product."
"We are not happy with the recent increase in the price."
