Advanced threat prevention has protected our perimeter and simplifies daily security operations
Check Point Quantum Force (NGFW) can be improved in several areas. First, the interface could be a little more intuitive for new users. The Smart Console is powerful, but it has a steep learning curve when you start using it. Some simple functions for common tasks would help. Second, the initial setup and configuration take quite a bit of time and expertise. It would be helpful if there were more guides, wizards, or templates to speed that up. Third, the price model could be more transparent and flexible. The license cost can add up quickly, specifically when you want to add more advanced features. Finally, I would appreciate seeing better integration with some third-party security tools we use. Right now, we have to do a lot of manual work to make everything talk to each other. Overall, these are minor things. The core product is really solid and does what it is supposed to do very well. The documentation could be more comprehensive in some areas. When we run into issues, the documentation does not have clear answers, so we end up contacting support. Speaking of support, the response time could be faster sometimes. We have had cases where we need help with a certain security issue, and it takes longer than we would prefer to get a response. As for features, it would be nice to have more general reporting options so we can customize reports for different teams and stakeholders without having to do manual work afterward. One more thing, better mobile access to the dashboard would be helpful. Sometimes we need to check on security alerts when we are away from the office, and the mobile experience is not as smooth as it could be. Again, these are improvements that would make it even better, not issues with the core product itself.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The product's ease of use is a significant advantage, and the interface is very intuitive."
"Check Point Quantum Force (NGFW) has positively impacted our organization by making our networks significantly safer, giving us much stronger control over our network, and reducing the number of security incidents we have to deal with."
"The biggest lesson I have learned from using Check Point's firewalls is that they are not complex."
"Check Point is able to satisfy almost any security tool for enterprise clients. This allows us to deploy complex changes from a single management interface, get better visibility, and significantly reduce operational complexity."
"The scalability is very good."
"I think that the most valuable feature is the prevention of known and zero-day threats because they are constantly trying to access your company and compromise its data."
"The firewall rule writing and object creation are the best and simplest I've seen on a firewall."
"The ability to add more firewalls and increase the capabilities, rather than remove the hardware, is an exceptional step forward."
"The stability of Palo Alto Networks CN-Series is excellent."
"The app inspection is very helpful for network security."

Cons

"Right now, with a larger user database and a high number of rules, it takes a bit of time for policy installation."
"The policy installation length is still too long. It was promised that the time would be severely reduced in newer versions, but it is still too long."
"Sometimes debugging is a hassle."
"Check Point could offer a cloud-managed approach similar to that of Cisco Meraki."
"CheckPoint would do good to add new features such as UEBA (User and Entity Behavior Analytics). They should also improve on the effectiveness of their antivirus."
"The initial levels of support are not that good."
"The speed of technical support is very slow and is something that should be improved."
"Of the areas of improvement that I want to see in this product, without a doubt, one is the technical support. In this time of globalization, with so many cyberattacks and risks, the Check Point support staff take a long time to attend to incidents due to the high demand."
"I'd like to see more IOPs features."
"Palo Alto Networks CN-Series could improve on its pricing as it is quite expensive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This product is not cheap and there are additional costs that depend on what model or package that you buy."
"Check Point NGFW is a little expensive."
"Check Point offers the same applications and features as Palo Alto for roughly a third of the price."
"The pricing and licensing are pretty steep. They know that they are good, so they are pricey."
"Check Point solutions are very expensive here. They're good, but they're expensive... Check Point is only useful for customers that have a big IT budget."
"It is not a cheap solution, which is why we are looking for another one."
"The solution is indeed costly."
"Its cost is a little higher than other products."
