Ease of backup and restore improves data management with reliable support
The interface of BDRSuite Backup & Replication is pretty intuitive. Regarding their marketing strategy, I'm very bad at marketing. I always get a little edgy when people try to shove their product in my face. There are two sides to the story. If you don't know something exists, you might not even start to look for it unless you really know that you need it. If you are explicitly looking for a solution, then you'll find it. People that don't know that they should do backup don't have a place in IT. I rate BDRSuite Backup & Replication 8.5 out of 10.

The solution provides the ability to backup all types of cloud drives, is inexpensive, and has decent support
MSP360 Backup provides the backup functionality, but we need to provide the storage component. We can use Azure, AWS, or another provider, but we need to choose the storage provider and create a bucket to store our data. The vendor is making changes to improve the functionality of the service and the separation of storage, but I would like to see more integration and a knowledge base of the tool. Currently trying to understand why the storage is separated and how to implement the storage properly is a challenge. Using the solution incurs additional charges for the device storage and backup which are not included in the service. Unlike other solutions such as Kohl which includes everything at one price. MSP360 Backup can be improved by adding inclusive pricing.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The main benefit is that it's inexpensive. We get a lot for a little bit of money. I'm very happy with the savings and with the features. It allows me to do everything I need."
"It is a good tool for backup, replication, and restoration."
"BDRSuite is better than competing solutions because it can protect, back up, and recover data. A feature called live migration allows you to recover the same data in different environments. For example, I can back up the data from a VMware machine and restore it to a Hyper-V."
"The support side of it, the usability, the ease of it: It is user friendly; we've tried other software before and it wasn't that great on the user front, but this software seems pretty straightforward."
"The compression, encryption and deduplication features are fabulous and great stuff."
"The restore feature is the most valuable; it's easy to restore."
"Vembu has been a great benefit to us and it's been very positive."
"The way in which the backup compression happens is really amazing, saving me almost 50 percent of my file storage space on SAN."
"The feature that I have found most valuable is its online backup capacity because you don't have to do an entire backup again and again, it just does whatever you type in, you type a, it goes a, you type b, it goes b."
"General ease of use and performance of the Windows version is the most valuable feature."
"Client-side encryption minimizes worries about data being captured on the back-end."
"MSP360 Backup's most valuable feature is its backup interface."
"The feature that I have found most valuable is its online backup capacity because you don't have to do an entire backup again and again, it just does whatever you type in, you type a, it goes a, you type b, it goes b. It doesn't take an entire site up again and again. So that incremental and bit by bit backup is important, it is a nice feature here."
"The UI is pretty good. It's very simple. That is one thing that we like about this. It's very user-friendly."
"MSP360 is vastly cheaper than its competitors and has almost all the same features."
"Block level transfers have significantly reduced the amount of time for transfers over some other solutions"

Cons

"Vembu BDR currently supports backups of O365, although it does not currently have an email archiving function to the O365 backups."
"They had a good product and tried to change things by going to a different product. They should have tried to stay with a product that is a proven solution and successful."
"The pricing could have been cheaper."
"We are still exploring its features, but we want to see more features that we desire over time."
"There have been times when the backup hangs and does not complete possibly due to a connection issue."
"There is a drawback in the whole approach about how the licenses are managed."
"Two or three years ago, they had an amazing support team, especially for the StoreGrid product, which is something that we're currently using. But around a year and a half ago, they brought out a new product called BDR, which from my understanding is horrible."
"It's not a ten because the accent of the customer support agents is very difficult to understand."
"The solution's pricing is very high."
"The other issue is that I don't like the implementation of the SQL backup."
"The product could be more user-friendly."
"The main improvement is that it should have GDPR compliance. That's the problematic point. They say they are GDPR compliant, but they are not."
"As for what can be improved, some reports could be simplified so that you know how much backup you have done and what your backup details are. That report is available but it is very tough to get. I would like to know "today I have just uploaded 35 MB, tomorrow I have loaded 10 MB so my trend of backup is increasing.""
"If I have an incident and I need to restore something very fast, I want to restore a particular virtual machine, maybe in an hour and that is not possible to do with MSP360."
"As for what can be improved, some reports could be simplified so that you know how much backup you have done and what your backup details are."
"Maybe implement an easier interface for basic users. For example, a set-up wizard with all the commonly used features as default."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"For our needs, the price of the backup system is not too much... We checked out Veeam and Acronis but both were very expensive compared to Vembu."
"I think it is a good value for the price."
"We were able to take advantage of a promotional pricing campaign."
"The high availability is too expensive for our customers."
"The price for BDRSuite is justified."
"The pricing is reasonable. I am okay with it."
"The pricing of Vembu could be better. They have a good product, and I know good products cost money, but they need to find a balance."
"The subscription model that we're signed up for is very good. The only thing that is something of a sticking point is the fact that you can't do PO-based licensing. It's all just credit card."
"Pricing is reasonable although can be quite a large upfront cost."
"It includes a standard licensing fee. Once a year, there is a rebranding fee. The licensing costs are available on the internet for MSP360 Backup. There is a discount structure where if you have over 50 devices, you get a 50% discount. So, my cost is $2 a license per month."
"The solution is expensive."
"Its pricing needs improvement."
"I rate the price of MSP360 Backup a seven out of ten."
"MSP360 is vastly cheaper than its competitors and has almost all the same features."
"We have a very good return on investment."
"The cost is pretty inexpensive. Around four to five dollars per device, per workstation on each server."
