Rapid attack detection and traffic visibility improve security management
The solution was intended for the big clients of Telefonica to clean their internet pipe. We deployed the service to clean the pipe. In some clients' data centers, we implemented a solution that detects and mitigates attacks using Arbor DDoS, our data center solution For me, the most valuable…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We can reduce the bandwidth to minimize the attack level. If we see more than 2.5 GBs we drop it directly."
"We use it not only for DDoS detection and protection, but we also use it for traffic analysis and capacity planning as well. We've also been able to extend the use of it to other security measures within our company, the front-line defense, not only for DDoS, but for any kind of scanning malware that may be picked up. It's also used for outbound attacks, which has helped us mitigate those and lower our bandwidth costs..."
"Analytics and its attack mitigation capabilities are valuable features of the solution."
"I like all the features together as a whole."
"The most valuable feature is mitigation, which can blackhole the IP."
"Arbor DDoS is easy to use, provides effective blocking of DDoS attacks, and can be used for DNS, web, and main servers. Additionally, this solution is far easier to operate than others solutions, such as Fortinet DDoS."
"It's just one dashboard with mitigation. You decide which mitigation you want and at what threshold to do this or that. Its operation is pretty simple. It's easy."
"It provides packet capture and we can block or whitelist whichever IPs we need to. Whatever traffic we want to block - and we get IPs from internal teams and from national teams - we block at the Arbor level only, because if it gets to the firewall then firewall bandwidth will be taken."
"We use Indusface AppTrana as a firewall."

Cons

"I have observed that the SNMP traps aspect that sends information to third-party solutions needs improvement."
"Sometimes it blocks legitimate traffic. If a legitimate user is trying to access the server continuously, the product suspects that this is a DoS traffic file. That is a case where it needs to improve. It needs machine-learning."
"Arbor DDoS could improve out-of-the-box reporting, it could be better."
"With Arbor DDoS, its integration issues with other technologies or other vendors' technologies is an area of concern that could be improved."
"Real-case scenarios that have taken too long to resolve or were escalated can be directly converted into articles."
"If we want to see live traffic, we can see do so. But once an attack that lasts for five minutes is done, the data is no longer there. It would be an improvement if we could see recent traffic in the dashboard. We can check and download live traffic, but a past attack, with all the details, such as why it happened and how to mitigate and prevent such future attacks, would be helpful to see."
"The solution needs to enhance its features to compete with other tools."
"An issue which needs to be addressed concerns information I received of attacks on the radar and Arbor, allegedly, not taking any action."
"The solution should add an enhanced dashboard to make it easy to navigate."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is a bit costly if you're a small organization, but I think it's worth the price that they are charging."
"You need to find a way to get a good offering from Arbor by negotiating a price. That is the challenge."
"The licensing of a complete Arbor solution, including fire-walling and unified site management, can get expensive."
"Because the solutions from competitors are very different, it's not easy to compare. However, the licensing from Arbor is clear and understandable and the pricing is reasonable when looking at the market, in general."
"Arbor DDoS is quite expensive, but all these solutions are expensive because they deal with confidential information."
"Our customers always complain about the price of the product."
"We do not use the Arbor Cloud DDoS solution because it is too costly."
"The price of Arbor DDoS depends on many parameters. It depends on the physical capacity of the environment, and it is not a straight-line price. It's fairly competitive in the market on the price."
"Indusface AppTrana is an affordable and cost-effective solution."
