We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Amazon QuickSight can provide insights from the available data. It supports various rule types. We get the options of machine learning and insights, which are not available in other intelligence tools. It is easier to use, more stable, and cheaper than other solutions.""The graph charts, pie charts, and box plots are valuable.""The integration is very seamless. We stored our result CSV files in S3 and connected directly from there.""The most valuable feature of this solution is the user interface.""A valuable feature of Amazon QuickSight is that it's a cloud-native service provided by AWS. As all platforms within my company run on AWS, that's the leverage of Amazon QuickSight. Amazon QuickSight is also easy to use, and I find the native connectors from AWS valuable as well.""The ease with which it integrates with different data sources is most valuable. Especially when everything is on AWS, it is easy to connect to the data source and organize different dashboards.""The most valuable feature of Amazon QuickSight is its connectivity with other Amazon services.""Amazon QuickSight has introduced a new functionality called Q bar, which allows the user to do natural language queries and get additional insights using some built-in generative capabilities."

"The technical support services are good.""The performance can issue queries to work in the Oracle database in Oracle's native language. There are a lot of visualizations which suit our business.""User-friendly look and feel.""I have found the most valuable features are business intelligence and reporting.""The most valuable feature is the ability to set up the automated delivery of reports.""Its robustness is most valuable. It can handle massive amounts of data quickly. If it's properly configured and tuned, it can handle massive amounts of data very quickly to produce results. That to me is the number one feature.""It mostly supports enterprise level data. We have millions of records on a daily basis.""The solution is easy to use and very flexible."

Cons
"You can't tell a data story as well in QuickSight as you can on others, especially in TIBCO Spotfire.""It should support integration with Python or R.""I just want a few more features to be added.""One area where Amazon QuickSight could improve is its formatting features for dashboards.""Compared to Power BI, I felt QuickSight lacks some features, like delayed drill-downs. Drill-downs were the main area where we found QuickSight lacking.""Right now, you can't use Amazon QuickSight on other cloud providers, so I'd like it to have availability on other cloud providers. This is an area for improvement in the product. What I'd like to see in Amazon QuickSight in the future is a distributed centralized system where I can manage all reports in one place, and for Amazon QuickSight to become reporting as a service.""It is a simple tool with limited features. Its visualization set is very limited, and it also has limited functionality. An intelligence tool should not be only for creating reports. Currently, we have to do all computational and mathematical operations outside. We should be able to do such operations in an intelligence tool like this. As an intelligence tool, it should support dynamic refresh. QuickSight currently supports the refresh at a minimum of one hour, and it is not suitable for dynamic dashboards that require frequent refreshes.""Amazon QuickSight has minimal features. The feature set can be improved to allow you to create good production-ready dashboards. This does not happen with QuickSite, it needs to mature to be used in production."

More Amazon QuickSight Cons →

"The performance could be better.""It's not so flexible to do BI reporting directly from the data source without models. It is not that agile.""Particularly on the Cloud, a lot of functionality has yet to be ported.""The solution needs to be easier to scale.""Its overall organization as an analytical tool, the layout of OBIEE, is not very good.""OBIEE doesn't have audit logs.""In the on-premises version, the feature for connecting and selecting the data between the databases looks a bit cumbersome, but I am not sure. The person who is using it takes a lot of time to design a data warehouse. When I ask him why is it taking this long, I get a response that this is something that he has to design, and there are different tools that are available. He has to write the ETL and design the warehouse according to the customer's requirement, which takes a lot of time. Its visualization should be enhanced, and there should be a feature where you can easily create your custom data warehouse.""For a beginner, this is a product that is difficult to learn. You cannot learn it quickly."

    Reviews from Real Users

Sandeep V., Process System Engineer at a comms service provider, tells us, “This solution is very easy for people who are building ad-hoc things. It's an enterprise solution so it can be deployed for a lot of users. There are some great new features that come with the 12c like data visualization, desktop BI Publisher, automation, and interactive dashboards. The product has good features. “

A user who is a CEO at a consultancy relates, “The most valuable feature is the visualization. The data warehousing, data storage, and data wrangling are all features that are in there, and it's one of the better products out there. A good thing is that for large datasets, it's very stable, especially when you have an Oracle database.”

A user who is a Principal Business Intelligence Architect at a computer software company suggests, "It is very biased towards Oracle infrastructure. One of the major red flags we have at the moment against Oracle is that it doesn't support deployment on other cloud providers. We're quite heavily vested in AWS as our infrastructure, and Oracle is yet to formally support deploying on those virtual infrastructure instances. That's quite disappointing, and it also cuts them out of over 70% of the market."
