Managed cloud services have helped accelerate experiments with flexible configuration options
Sometimes the costs associated with spinning up a service, especially managed services, have implications. For example, if I create a Glue job, that will create S3 buckets and other resources that have cost implications, but once I clean up a Glue job, it does not delete the other accessory resources. Sometimes, I have to go hunting for what resources Amazon AWS might have provisioned and how it is costing behind the scenes. It can be complex depending on your level of expertise. It is not as easy to get started, especially when it comes to secure practices. Amazon AWS is more hands-on than other platforms.

A scalable and stable solution that has good scalability and is easy to setup
It is a scalable solution. I have yet to have a scenario regarding automatic scale and if there's an increase in resource requirement or need. We have yet to have that scenario. We have yet to test that. The scalability was more than manually adjusting and increasing whatever I had to do. I rate it eight out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Cloud Trail API log storage."
"The installation and initial setup are easy."
"We are mostly using EC2 compute and other resources. Most of our managed services are in AWS, which some of our clients prefer."
"The ecosystem offered by the product has almost everything."
"Scalability is one of the biggest benefits we have."
"Newly introduced features advance capabilities."
"The most valuable feature is the availability, as we work in different availability zones."
"The tool is a hosting platform that we can leverage to open servers. We can use it to build databases. We use cost management and high-performance capabilities of the tool."
"The solution is scalable, and that is what we are looking at. There is no learning curve as we have not done much research."
"Technical support from Jelastic is very good."
"The control is valuable. It's really easy to use and you have good control of your solutions."
"The advanced level of production-ready Docker hosting, one-click application deployment, and the truly flexible pricing."
"The dynamic vertical scaling is a unique feature."

Cons

"It just needs to be improved from the security perspective."
"User personalization and robotic process automation services need to be mature enough. More APIs are required for robotic process automation services. Azure is more mature in terms of user personalization and robotic process automation services. The document processing can also be better. Whenever we want to do any kind of document management, I try to do OCR, ICR, etc. The functionality in AWS has to be more like that."
"In the next release, I would like to see better pricing."
"Monthly costs can be high if you don't maintain your usage"
"Many of our clients prefer in-house cloud rather than the application data sitting in the infrastructure owned and managed by Amazon."
"There should be seminars and online training sessions available from AWS because a lot of people who are not using it would benefit from having the basic knowledge or basic hands-on experience."
"There was some new learning in terms of IOPS on the EBS storage. The concept of burstable IOPS was new and we did have a few outages when we ran out of IOPS."
"The technical support should be better than what is on offer right now."
"The security layers also need to be improved because there is no clear layer or tier of security in the solution."
"The backup features need improvement, or rather it should be added, as I could not find it."
"Lacks better integration into enterprise storage products."
"For now, some customers are requesting support of Docker containers for Windows."
"The backup functionality needs to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"In comparison to Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure, the database offered by Amazon AWS is relatively expensive. However, the database also offers rich features."
"It is comparable if you add in the price structure to an on-prem solution."
"The price could be better."
"It's not very pricey, but it could be cheaper."
"In terms of price, there are less expensive options."
"I find Amazon AWS very expensive compare to Microsoft Azure."
"We pay for Amazon AWS annually."
"Looking at the primary market for AWS, I see that there's a lot of customers who have only mid-level performance requirements, because you will have all these normal applications such as online auction websites, gaming applications, voice applications, and so on. These are not, for example, large monitoring applications, financial independents, or brick and mortar companies. So AWS caters to about 40% of the market when it comes to general applications. As it happens, in many cases, you simply don't need the high-performance offerings from AWS, nor the innovative products from Google Cloud Platform, which can come with large price tags."
"I would rate the cost 3 out of 5. There are additional costs other than licensing fees."
"Pricing for providers is revenue-shared based. Providers should invest in hardware to set up the Jelastic cluster."
