We compared Nasuni and Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud across several parameters based on our users' reviews. After reading the collected data, you can find our conclusion below:
Comparison Results: When comparing Nasuni and Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud, Nasuni offers a varied initial setup experience, with some finding it easy while others faced challenges. It provides unlimited storage capacity, comprehensive file data view, scalability, security, and auditing capabilities. However, it needs better platform support and enhanced user-friendliness. Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud has a straightforward setup process and is praised for its ease of use and user-friendly management console. It offers incremental backups, integration with multiple modules, and strong security features. However, it needs better server performance and enhanced user-friendliness. Nasuni excels in storage capabilities and disaster recovery features, while Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud stands out in ease of use and user-friendly management.
"One of my favorite features of the Acronis backup product is the ability to replicate the backups. Backup data can be replicated to a second, third, or even fourth data source."
"The most valuable feature is disaster recovery."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is that it can cover both the cloud and the on-prem devices."
"The agent, which is installed on the system, can do Quality of Service."
"The management, backup, and recovery features are all very good."
"It has one console for many loads and one backup for many recovery options. Converting backups as a virtual machine offers an edge as a low-cost Disaster Recovery solution."
"Once you deploy, it's very easy to manage. It took us about an hour to deploy."
"The most valuable features are its ease of use, the speed, and its got a reasonable amount of granular control."
"The most important feature is that things are backed up automatically in AWS. We have a lot of remote sites where there is a tiny server onsite and, in a lot of cases, we really don't have to back them up because the data is automatically copied to AWS. The cloud replication is the most useful functionality for us."
"Nasuni Management Console (NMC) is super valuable, and both physical and virtual filers are also valuable. NMC is the one-stop place for all our filers, both virtual and physical filers. They are definitely doing a great job in housing all our documents and surveillance videos."
"The most valuable feature is the storage in that it only keeps the last-used data locally, while everything else is backed up to the cloud. That way, we never really have to worry about file space in each office or the replication to the other file servers for DR."
"Another helpful feature, in addition to restoring a file that was deleted within 24 to 48 hours, is that we have the ability to restore a file or a folder that was deleted, going all the way back to the inception of that file or folder. That means we actually have unlimited backups to the inception point of data with Nasuni."
"We have less downtime and fewer trouble tickets from users who cannot access their shared files. Nasuni has reduced the friction and noise associated with file management because the devices are more reliable."
"The feature I have found to be most valuable is the revision control of the files. If somebody deletes or accidentally makes a wrong change to files, we can go back to the revision history and restore the previous versions. That is a very good feature that we rely on."
"My clients are happy with Nasuni because the transmission is seamless, and it consolidates all the existing file servers into one location. Also, Nasuni has no boundaries. It's infinitely expandable. They don't have to rely on the service provider for backup and restoration. It's self-serve."
"Nasuni gives us a single platform with a 360-degree view of our file data, which is very important to us. We have everything that we need to look at in a single pane of glass."
"Technical support needs improvement. They are too slow to respond, and when it comes to backups, it's critical to deal with issues quickly."
"For you to actually see the full logs, you have to use additional tools or even contact support so they can pull them with own tools."
"It will be good if Acronis can provide more documentation and videos describing how to do different things. Their documentation is good, but it is without examples. They don't have lots of videos. They should put more videos on YouTube to show how to set up certain things, how to restore, and how to back up. They should provide step-by-step documentation and videos for specific scenarios. I would like them to improve the command line feature. The command line is not working smoothly, and there is some problem with it. If the command line is improved, it will take the product to the next level. It would be great if it can back up data from storage so that people are able to back up old data. Such a feature will make it an enterprise solution for a full backup."
"Acronis may claim it's due to security reasons, but I believe there should be an option to delete specific files from old backups stored on the Acronis Cloud. Currently, there is no such feature, and I strongly feel the need for a deletion option for erroneous backups."
"There could be some changes done to the action page to simplify it."
"The shortcomings in the solution can be overcome if the product improves in the area of completion time so that the restoration process does not take much time."
"I keep submitting a request for more flexible reporting. I'd like to create custom reports in my own way, rather than just combining the pre-defined modules."
"Reporting is not on par. It needs some more information as per customer or partner interest. I hope Acronis is working on it."
"As administrators, we are used to having control equal to managing an on-prem device. In terms of log analysis and other things we want to do, Nasuni has some limitations limitation on what you do on the Nasuni. Nasuni could add some features to the GUI that make administration a little easier. It's tough when I have to move from one filter to another because there is no way to search it. We have to scroll up and down to find the name of it."
"When we have to rebuild a filer or put a new one at a site, one of the things that I would like to be able to do is just repoint the data from Azure to it. As it is now, you need to copy it using a method like Robocopy."
"We forecasted that the data at my client's organization would grow by about ten percent annually, but we are migrating more data because we are bringing in some servers that had not previously been within the scope of our license. We expected it would take us two years to reach a specific amount of data, but we hit that mark in one year. The licensing cost skyrocketed, so we need to renegotiate. It puts us in a bind because we are reliant on Nasuni for our service strategy. We can't deny our customers, but we also struggle to pay for that."
"One area that we've recently spoken to Nasuni about is single sign-on. Another is integrating Nasuni with Azure Active Directory. In our particular case, that would allow for third-party consultants to access our Azure Active Directory environment as opposed to coming to our on-premises environment."
"Some of their cross-platform features are really good, but it could always use more."
"One thing to consider is that Nasuni will have the same limitations that a traditional file storage solution will have, although that is because they are taking the place of a traditional architectural model. For example, Office 365 supports collaboration on documents such as Excel files and Word documents, but because Nasuni is a traditional file server, in that sense, it can't make use of that functionality."
"When we first set up our bandwidth limiting, we had a few problems when it came to managing it. This is something that could be made easier; however, we were able to make the changes that we needed to for our environment."
"The Nasuni file storage platform doesn't work well when there are a high number of small files. This is the case when a directory structure contains more than 10,000 or 20,000 small files, e.g., 5 KB, 10 KB, or 15 KB. When the user is accessing these files from another geographical location, they might face a slow response or timeouts when connecting to the shares, and then to the files. This is because the file size is small. There is a scope of improvement with this solution when it comes to accessing a large number of small files."
