What is TruView?

Visual TruView by Fluke Networks is a unified solution for Application Aware Network Performance Management (AANPM). TruView embeds the most important data sources such as packet, transaction, NetFlow/IPFIX, and SNMP to present analytics in a time-correlated single dashboard view. These correlated views help you quickly see how well the infrastructure is transporting applications and how well those applications are performing in the context of end-user experience. We use TruView primarily for network performance analysis and monitoring. It helps us track traffic, flows, packets, and bandwidth to understand our network's condition and detect any anomalies or attacks. However, the product's age limits its advanced features for performance analysis. The main advantage lies in its low cost and reliable functionality, as we have a permanent license and do not require support. Real-time monitoring in TruView is somewhat limited, as there is a delay of about five minutes in data updates, making it less effective for immediate insights.

One area that could be improved is the reporting features. In the version transformation from ten to eleven, the platform changed from a Windows-based platform to a Linux-based platform. As a result, the previous reporting feature using Crystal Reports was no longer available. Instead, we had to generate PDF dashboard reports, which were not as flexible. It would be great to have better reporting options in the future. When it comes to future releases, TruView is reaching its end-of-life, so they are not developing or selling it anymore. However, the replacement software from NetScout, called NetScout Engineers One Monitoring Software, is close but more focused on engineering and technical aspects. It would be great if the new software could provide similar views and data representation as TruView, as there are still a few things that our customers would like to see but are missing in the current solution. For example, improvements in data representation.

Customer Service: PlexNet Pty Ltd in Australia provides this aspect of NETSCOUT but I have found the local team to be very supportive. Whilst NETSCOUT don't have a large number of staff in Australia they are a very transparent organisation and provide good service to their partners. The global support team is also very responsive. Technical Support: As a partner managing local technical support and often involved in multiple cases I have found the NETSCOUT team to generally have a good level of support. Having support teams in both Europe and America makes things easier for us in Australia. Whilst some cases take longer than others the resolution time is pretty good.
