Pros and Cons
- "They design their own chip, and this chip is the one that has their own special algorithm that does all the analysis of the packet. It's amazing."
What is our primary use case?
cPacket cClear is the application software that you use to monitor. It works with the cPacket hardware in the network. The hardware will work with the cTaps. These are the network TAPs that the network packets will be flowing into the cPacket hardware, and then through to where cPacket cClear, where it is able to monitor all the packet that is going in and out of them. I used cPacket cClear when I was in Vietnam but I have not had the changed to use it here in Cambodia where I am now.
What is most valuable?

For how long have I used the solution?
I have used cPacket cClear within the last 12 months.

The technical support is very responsive. The support did a technical demonstration to the customers that were very impressive.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The cPacket cClear hardware is not cheap. With the appliance and all the features, the solution can cost over $200,000. This was for a 10-gigabit network and with the new 100 gigabit networks, it will cost even more. It is very expensive.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I have evaluated other solutions, such as PRTG and SolarWinds.
What other advice do I have?
Based on what I've seen in a demo a while ago, I did not see any other network monitoring software like this one. The solution goes into every little corner of your network. You receive the full visibility of your entire network. Other solutions, such as SolarWinds and PRTG you can only see what we call a tunnel vision of the network. I rate cPacket cClear a nine out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises
